Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer opens so it'll more than likely snap up the top spot. Darkhorse teen/kids movie Nancy Drew also opens but I just don't see it doing so hot after seeing the previews for it.

Fantastic Four 2 will be #1 next weekend.

Knocked Up fell a bit more then I was expecting, but I didn't think Surf's Up would have such a disappointing opening

Well, I noted last week that Hostel is out at the wrong time of year. It would do much better around Halloween in October, such as the Saw movies being released at that time. And truth be told, Hostel wasn't a movie that exactly demanded a sequel, since there isn't that ONE killer to market the franchise around (it's just various people paying money to torture and kill). A marketable horror series has to have a recurring character: Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kreuger, Jigsaw, etc.

Hostel was a film that was a shocking, disturbing horror flick but do I necessarily want to see more people get tortured and killed in eastern Europe?

"Fuck off with the goddamn penguin shit" - Moviegoers of the world, to Hollywood

During one of the trailers online a critic said "one of the most original movies in a long time" or something like that.

Just because it's about penguins, doesn't mean it wasn't original. Never heard of a cartoon being done as a mockumentary

The previews sure didn't look original... the young go-getter protagonist, his goofy best friend/sidekick, the strong-willed female lead and the big bully antagonist

The fact it features penguins didn't even register to me

The premise of Surf's Up made me groan when I saw the preview the first time, but after I found it was a mockumentary I wanted to see it. The good reviews also steered me in that direction.

I'll probably blindly buy the DVD when it comes out.
