Lord of The Curry

John From Cinncinati

Recommended Posts

Only 3 episodes in, but I'm loving it. Where else are you going to get

"I'm gonna take a dump a man can be proud of."

and

"Me and Kai are gonna bone, but I may need to break her jaw first, Butchie."

And I love Ed taking over the Deadwood self monolouges.

And yeah, Luke Perry is very good in it. He seems to kickass on premium stations. He was good on HBO's Oz and good on Showtime's Jeremiah.

And yeah, the kid is bad, but I doubt you're going to find a kickass surfing acting child.

I've spent the last few days watching all of the episodes, and I can't decide if John is an angel or an agent of Satan.

But I'm digging it.

The scene where he kept repeating in my father's eyes and Cass's camera lens about different scenarios confused the shit out of me.

I still need to watch last week's episode.

I'm highly amused that Butchie started getting so fucked up when Cissy jerked him off.

Finally caught up.

The last episode was the best of the series, in my opinion.

The Butchie/Shaunie reunion was really well done, as was the crazy stuff with John. Great ending and I'm legit wondering what the fuck is going to happen to Shaunie next week.

Ditto. Is John talking about Shaunie going down the route of Butchie and becoming a sponsor-whore or is the kid legit dead this time? And once again, Ed O'Neil is far and away the MVP of this show with Dr. Smith and Kai being runner-ups.

I'm caught up. But I don't know how I'm feeling about the show right this moment...seems like nothing's really happened the past two weeks.

Can't stand grandma, that bitch's overacting is beyond getting on my nerves

Yeah, it's looking more and more like Shaunie being gone has to do with him signing his deal with Linc.

I don't know - it really does seem like nothing's happening lately, but I can't help but enjoy the show. It's entertaining and some of the performances are mind-blowingly awesome...Ed O'Neill is just fantastic. His scene w/ John where John stabbed himself was just top notch from front to back.

I also hope something bad happens to Cissy... like getting squarely hit in the face by a meteor or something.

Can't believe Sunday is the season finale already...

Any predictions? The preview said that many questions will be answered.

Still no idea what the fuck is going on.

9/11/14 everyone will be eliminated by John's father.

They operate through Stinkweed?

Jesus, I'm lost.

Bring on CURB!

Well, it turns out that rumors of the show’s cancellation (related story here) were indeed correct. HBO has officially canceled the David Milch series John From Cincinnati.

The decision was handed down on Monday, just a day after the show concluded its first (and now only) season.

HBO though is still interested in staying in business with the show’s co-creator, as he is in the process of extending his existing development deal with the network (which currently runs through August 2008).

As is well known, the show had the pleasure of leading out of the series finale of The Sopranos, but failed to capitalize on the exposure, posting poor numbers in terms of retention. The series continued to fade to an average just a little over the 1 million viewer mark, well below where it started (3.42 million viewers).

Oh well, so much for that.

Worth watching, but not much more then that.

It was nice to get SOME kind of wrap up for the season, even though there is way too many things left unanswered.

The best thing about the series ending is that I am done with the grandmother's awful awful overacting

I enjoy the show, however it kind of lost me after John brought them all to that one place and started prancing around talking as if he was reading poetry. I love John's character though. The show is a good combination of actors, mixed with a really good stage crew. They definately know what they were doing when they made this show. I need to catch up a bit on it, however it is hard when the plot has all the twists that never seem to explain themselves.
