benn Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I want to think that I'll still be able to appreciate his matches from a technical standpoint and to admire his perseverance in striving to live his dream and become a pro wrestler. I'm not sure that I'll be able to, only time will tell.
2GOLD Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 So yeah the major thing we should really look at is the near certainty that Vince McMahon knew before the show went live that the police thought Benoit killed his family, and the strong probability that at least some of the people paying heartfelt tribute to Benoit knew as well. Chavo, Dean, and Regal were just awkward to watch. Many of the tributes were more about the performer and not testimonials to the person. Or in the case of Hunter and Steph, completely sidestepping everything. I figured everyone was still in shock over the news. Was Edge crying for Benoit, or was he crying for Nancy and Daniel? Probably all three of them. And he did say he loved Chris Benoit so yeah.
Foshi Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Aside from Torrie Wilson, who doesn't take steroids nowadays? I don't doubt that he's been having mental issues since(or even before) Guerrero's death. If his marriage was as bad as everyone states, that only escalated the issues. Now, I have no doubt that he finally snapped and after realizing what he had done, opted to take his own life than face the music. Also, I am just guessing on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was suffering or starting to suffer from dementia. In any event, his career will always be overshadowed ala O.J. Simpson. No matter what the Benoit-fanatics will state. I don't know, Torrie's been looking kind of big lately. And I'm not casting judgment on anyone, but I feel horrible for all three of them regardless of what happened. Obviously, worst for his son, but I felt that way before any of the details came out. I personally don't feel it's my place to pass judgment on a situation like this. I just feel horrible for what happened, I feel horrible that three people are now dead, and that one man, for whatever reason, took the lives of two of the most important people in his life(if not his wife, then certainly his son). It's just a horrible situation throughout and I thought I'd throw my two cents in.

LJSexay Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I feel like the reason Chavo, Dean and Regal's tributes were so numb is because maybe... maybe this is just one too many tragedies in such a short period of time. Whatever the circumstances, wrestling has just been royally fucked by SO many deaths in these past few years. It is amazing.

While he gave very good compliments toward Benoit, he wasn't overly emotional yet I think him and benoit were pretty close if i'm not mistaken. I was expecting him to lose it but he didn't.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Man I've been hearing so many stories, I don't know what to believe. This story has everyone running around like a bunch of chicken with their heads cut off. I, myself will wait until I hear more on the story within the next 2 weeks, to pass judgement.

JimmyHendricks Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 From Meltz: Benoit sent the text messages to Chavo Guerrero, one of his close friends. The story said WWE officials learned of Benoit's death at 4 p.m. from the local authorities. They gathered the wrestlers to the ring area where they were told only of the deaths of Benoit, wife Nancy and son Daniel. They were told the live show was being canceled. WWE will go on with regular programming tomorrow in San Antonio, with Raw & ECW tapings not based on either a tribute to Chris Benoit or continuing the Vince McMahon angle.

Wow, I can't believe they are actually going to tape a "regular" smackdown/ecw. That is the last thing i expected them to do. I would have thought they would have at least given the talent a week to mourn.
benn Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 At least they won't be doing offensive Vince shit.

Dandy Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Oh. I thought I was seeing a different picture than what you had.
Enigma Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 If those details are true, this is sick. What was going through his head during the time she was dead and Daniel was still alive? How was Benoit hiding the fact he killed Nancy away from Daniel for 24 hours? Did he actively know he was going to kill Daniel before he did it? I really hope he left a note or told Chavo or Dean or anybody something detailing his thought process during this whole thing. I really want to know what was going on in his head when he did this. This is all so very sad.
EdwardKnoxII Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I found out about this about an half an hour ago on CNN while getting ready for bed cause I work nights and this was the first I heard. At which point I ran to the computer to find out what happened and all I can say is that I hope Chris, Nancy and his son are in a better place. It all I can really say about it. Now as for RAW what matches did they show, who did they have interviews with, was Vince there, etc and what about the other shows for this week?

Perhaps it's the basis for his new t-shirt "Innocent..Until Proven Guilty"? Unlike Eddie Guerrero, WWE will have to act fast in order to cash in.
Enigma Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 "Well, I wouldn't be crying, I'll tell you that. This has been a terrible day, and sadly it's probably going to get worse from here. There is a lot coming out and a lot that has yet to come out, and unfortunately I don't think anyone should be waiting on a potential best-case scenario." -- Bryan Alvarez
Enigma Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 LATEST FROM DAVE MELTZER The WWE web site reported that Chris Benoit sent some curious text messages early Sunday morning, which concerned friends to alert Richard Hering, WWE's VP of Government Relations to call Fayette County sheriffs on Monday to check the residence. Benoit sent the text messages to Chavo Guerrero, one of his close friends. The story said WWE officials learned of Benoit's death at 4 p.m. from the local authorities. LMAO... That's the same picture and background they've been using all day, even before they found out about what the investigators thought. Get a life.
Guest Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 The fact that he took time out of whatever he was doing to message somebody and let them know a part of his thought process is very disturbing. His name is tarnished enough, if in fact he did murder both of them, I don't need to drag his name through the mud more than it has been. It says a lot that WWE is going to move on so quickly. That's a red flag.
fairtoflair7 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 It's really sad and horrible now watching the tribute on Raw....just eerie and creepy

luke-o Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I got a text from my friend this morning saying "I cried when i found out about Benoit", and because I was half asleep I assumed he'd only just discovered he'd been drafted to ECW. Then I came on here as I had a bad feeling about the message and I find 27 pages of this thread. I was upset at first and nearly cried on a few occasions, its a truly sad day. And now it turns out he MAY have killed his family? I just feel sick. I'll pay my respects now, but I'm not passing judgement on anyone untill I know all the details. RIP.
Enigma Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 WWE is going to catch a SHITSTORM of bad publicity of the story about the "a lot of steroids found" is true.

He didn't look any more "sinister" or weird in either photo.

If they wanted to do a sinister looked, they would have him smile for crying out loud. His smile was sinister enough. Bottom line, the poster is just trying to make something out of nothing.
LJSexay Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 this is bigger than anyone could have ever imagined.
