Downhome 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 I recently got the past month of OVW shows so I'm about to start watching again. I'm sure that some of you watch the episodes, but I don't see a thread here talking about it. So consider this something of an OVW discussion thread. If you watch, which guys and gals do you really see something special in right now?
Nate 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 no i dont because i live in Illinois, i wish someone would upload OVW to Daily Motion or somewhere
Alro 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 I've not watched since CM Punk left. I'm sure Paul Burchill has had a good and entertaining run, but I can't bring myself to watch something where Shawn Spears is a top guy.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 The OVW now is a far cry from the glory days of '02-early '06. The Heyman era was especially fun because he was booking without the chains on him, and in true Heyman fashion found a way to accentuate everyone's positives. It wasn't until the office told him to get everyone into the roles they decided upon (Spirit Squad guys, Deuce and Domino, etc.) that things started looking sloppy. I haven't been impressed with OVW as a whole in quite some time. Sure, guys like Burchill, Cody Rhodes (and his angle with Spears is one of the lone highlights these days), and the James Boys work for me, but it's a night and day scenario with the OVW of yesteryear. I highly recommend seeking out some of that past footage (and '05-April of '06, which includes the Heyman booking term is all on DVD, not VHS).
Downhome 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2007 Oh yeah, the quality isn't even close to what it used to be, but it's not horrible in my opinion. Just a few random thoughts: -Cody shows way more passion and intensity in OVW than what we've seen from him in WWE so far. Even so, however, he looks small even in OVW. -Johnny Nitro was on the July 14th episode, and again, he seemed way better on the mic, way more relaxed, and more like "himself". -In that same episode they had a diva "yo mama jokes" contest. WTF? Well, at least it had AAE so, that was a huge plus. -I can't believe what they've done to Roadkill. I already knew that he he had a new look, but I totally forgot about it. I saw him in an episode or two here, and it wasn't until the third one that it hit me, and I had to look it up to make sure it was him. He's like an Earthquake Jr. now or something -The Next Generation Hart Foundation: Coming out to the old music is awesome, Nattie is so cute, Harry Smith seems to not have found his niche in OVW yet (I've seen his work before OVW and he was great) but he's getting there, and Teddy Hart is Teddy Hart. I've always liked his work, but we all know the deal with him. -I really like the group that Colt Cabana is part of, with Atlas DaBone and Aaron Stevens. -Festus seems horrible, just as I expected, but I guess we'll see what they do with him on WWE TV. -I love the new look for Paul Burchall, so hopefully we'll see him in WWE once again. That guy could be huge if they'd actually give him the right push. -Vladimir Kozlov seems, well, not that great all, but I do like the character. -What in the world is up with the angle where Kenny Bolin sent off his DNA to make a clone of himself, and something screwed up and he ended up with a midget version of himself named Mini-B instead? I liked The James Boys, but good God, do they really need to be involved with such a stupid angle? By the way, when I see Teddy Hart I can't help but be reminded of Kwee-Wee from WCW:
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2007 I try to make an effort to watch this but it's not appointment tv by any means. I've probably seen 2-3 episodes in full length this summer. I really enjoyed the OVW Rumble. I think OVW has a small handfull of guys that I honestly believe are WWE ready. The booking and storylines in OVW aren't great as they were during Heyman's period, which I wish I would have been able to see on a regular weekly basis instead of DVD's every other month but OVW wasn't added back to the rotation until just this past fall. luke-o 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2007 I actually thought the whole Mini B thing was hillarious. I thought he was an awful commentator up untill that point. I wasn't sure that Roadkill was the fat dude untill about 2 minutes, then turned to my friend and said, "is that Armish Roadkill?" to which he replied, "Who?".
