brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2007 I know you can use DVD Recorders to record other DVD movies, but can they act similar to a VCR and record from TV as well?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2007 Buy a cheap one from Wal*Mart for less than $99.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2007 You're both right. Yes, DVD recorders function almost identically to any VCR, and just because I can, I agree with Raza: Under 100 bones from Wal*mart, easily. With my whoring out of the way, see what you can find in PVR's, which for my money, are infinitely more efficient than DVD recorders.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2007 Capture cards and the like can be expensive and more trouble than its worth if you only want to record the weekly WWE programming. But if you have an extra 300 Gig hard drive just sitting around collecting dust then by all means go to http://www.videohelp.com and get technical about the subject. As someone mentioned though, DVRs are more efficient and they pretty much took over as far as replacing VCRs. You just hook the cable line into the input of the DVD recorder. Connect the recorder to the TV via the RCA inputs. You then select the correct input on the TV, and use the built-in tuner on the recorder to tune to the channel you want to record. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2007 Exactly. I don't mean to be a dick about this, but I don't know what Raza's capture card/external hard drive had to do with anything. If you don't buy a PVR or Tivo outright, it's not out of the question to rent them through your current cable/satellite.
