I can honestly say it will. Having seen one on display for hours at a time, it's unreal the difference it makes as far as eye strain. In fact, one of the TV's I was looking at in my price range was a Philips at my Wal*mart, but no ambilight de-sold me on it.

I don't recall how much more the price jump was between the different models, but my best recollection was a hundred or so. If cost isn't an issue, it's really a sweet, sweet feature. This year's Phlips models also included a sweet out-of-the-box feature, in which they show eight screens, each with 2 images, on one each half of the screen. Pick the ones you like better, and it'll auto adjust the colour settings, etc., to your liking.

I know a guy who has a Philips with Ambilight and he swears by it. He told me he was watching a movie with some friends, turned off the amiblight feature, and after a while everyone was telling him to turn it back on. I would just make sure to buy one from a store with good customer service, as Philips' customer support sucks big time (I used to work for a chain that stopped carrying them for that very reason).
