Ripper 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2007 http://www.aurea.philips.com/ I am curious. Would this type of feature make a difference in your purchase of a HDTV? Like, lets say you had HDTV's all at the same price and size, would this feature or the Ambilight feature before it sway your decision to purchase this television over the others? MrRant 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2007 Same price and size? Maybe. It could be nice.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2007 I can honestly say it will. Having seen one on display for hours at a time, it's unreal the difference it makes as far as eye strain. In fact, one of the TV's I was looking at in my price range was a Philips at my Wal*mart, but no ambilight de-sold me on it. I don't recall how much more the price jump was between the different models, but my best recollection was a hundred or so. If cost isn't an issue, it's really a sweet, sweet feature. This year's Phlips models also included a sweet out-of-the-box feature, in which they show eight screens, each with 2 images, on one each half of the screen. Pick the ones you like better, and it'll auto adjust the colour settings, etc., to your liking.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2007 I know a guy who has a Philips with Ambilight and he swears by it. He told me he was watching a movie with some friends, turned off the amiblight feature, and after a while everyone was telling him to turn it back on. I would just make sure to buy one from a store with good customer service, as Philips' customer support sucks big time (I used to work for a chain that stopped carrying them for that very reason).
