Guest Report post Posted September 15, 2007 I'm not that surprised that the home jersey of the team playing in Texas looks like that of a high school football team.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted September 15, 2007 Boy, that's an old-school hockey sweater for a team that's been in Dallas, Texas since 1993. F-triple-minus. Bring back the North Stars. Anyone else think these Edge Jerseys are going to go the way of Cooperalls? I sure do. At least Cooperalls just made the Flyers look stupid (and crash into the boards more often); these have made about a third of the league look ridiculous. So many of these new logos are just bad design, too, from the revival of the old Capitals script that looked low-rent the first time around, to the Tampa Bay Lightning logo that actually made it worse than it was before, whatever that Vancouver clusterfuck is, and worst of all, the new NHL shield with the freshman-design-student amount of beveling and the sledgehammer-of-intent "Now the letters go up and to the right to show we are in fact moving forward and upward with our NBC deal that doesn't pay a dime." treble 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2007 The uniform technology is here to stay, but hopefully most teams realize that the design templates are awful and get rid of that fucking apron. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that's actually an improvement is Columbus. And I don't mind the new Washington ones, really. I wish most teams did what Anaheim, Detroit, and the Rangers did and basically just transfer your existing sweater onto the new one with just minor tweaks in order to make it fit. EDIT: Oh, and Boston's are pretty good, too. But that was mostly just some fine tuning.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted September 15, 2007 Anaheim is another bad design. Totally uninspired. The shoulder logo for the Caps is well-designed. It's an eagle shaped like a W with the Capitol dome in the negative space. Clever, relatively simple, and iconic. You could doodle it in a notebook when you're bored in class. That's the mark of a good logo. Why not use that for the new Ovechkin era, instead of recalling the awful years in Landover?
treble 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2007 The Ducks' sweater isn't nescessarily good, I just like that they didn't add a bunch of stripes and elbow things just for the sake of it.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted September 16, 2007 Not bad, but I still resent their mere existence. C+ haaaaaaaaawwks They tweaked the tomahawk logo a little bit so that the C has a serif on it, so it's almost like the typeface that the Bulls and Blackhawks use. That's an improvement that I never would've thought to make. Everything else is the same, so it's perfect. A+. I'm getting really excited for the future of The Organization, because Wirtz might finally cash out before he kicks it.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2007 Speaking of the BlackHawks, they want you back. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=218137&hubname=nhl They could start by making sure all their games are on TV in Chicago.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted September 16, 2007 Well, Bill Wirtz is considering selling. Anyone that buys the team will be savvy enough to televise a full schedule. I'm sure the owner of the Chicago Wolves, whose name is eluding me, would be interested in buying if he can't purchase the Cubs. NHL hockey isn't dead in Chicago, not by a long shot, rather, it's just being held in suspended animation. The Black Hawks were the hot ticket in town for a long time, and for good reason: I wasn't there myself, as it was before my time, but my grandparents held the radio broadcasting rights for a few years in the 1970s, and my family still talks about hanging out at the Chicago Stadium when it was packed to the rafters and louder than hell. The United Center can replicate the ol' madhouse to an extent, but this is going to take a concerted effort from team and fan alike. Television is as dangerous to the gate as it is to the movie theater: that is to say, not at all, and the key is to use one to help the other. Expose the product, make it a good one, and you'll get people to talk Hawk pretty fast. Is Bill Wirtz a fuckhead? Absolutely, but this is supposed to be a team on the rise, they need our support, and claims of bad ownership can only take you so far in a city where you're patronizing a son of a bitch like Jerry Reinsdorf in basketball AND baseball. All The Organization needs to do is make a sincere and substantial outreach to the fans, and the Hawks can be brought back to respectability. It's gotta happen, and I can't wait, because this is my second-favorite team, after all. Even the Red Wings had a dormant period, and look where they are now. That can be us, and hopefully it'll be us sooner than later, because those old Steve Larmer sweaters have to be getting pretty worn out.

treble 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 What happens if the Bills make the playoffs? Yeah, I know, but you'd think the Bills wouldn't want to have a possible schedule conflict or have the field fucked up.

Yeah, I know, but you'd think the Bills wouldn't want to have a possible schedule conflict or have the field fucked up. The playoffs wouldn't start until the 5th. I'm sure they'd have the field ready for football in four days.

Guest Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Dan Cloutier is fucking garbage. Yeah, he won the shootout. So what. If this team doesn't keep Bernier up from Lewiston as the starter, I'll puke.

Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted September 21, 2007 Will the Panthers approach Marlins levels of bad attendance? How do people even remember that this team exists? There's no other team in the big four that's as completely unremarkable.
Guest Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I think the Coyotes or Panthers will take him. I sure hope they take his 3.1 million dollar for the next two seasons contract. The Panthers will be pretty good, their attendance is below-average, but who can blame them. They've sucked. The Yotes are the ones with the attendance problems.
