#10 James Madison beat up on #5 New Hampshire 41-20. Ricky Santos threw for 353 yards with 2 TD and 2 INT. Rodney Landers ran for 128 yards and 2 TD for James Madison.

Western Kentucky beat up West Virginia Tech 87-0... thrashing indeed. 16,165 attended too!

Not to take anything away from La-Tech's stout defense, but UH has shot themselves in the foot continuously today with easy fumbles. It has set up Tech with good field position on a few scoring drives. Tech has surprised me today, nonetheless.

35-31 Hawai'i.

Iowa State seems to want to give Duke a run for it's money for the title of Worst BCS Conference Team as after losing to Kent State last week they follow it up by losing to Northern Iowa this week.

Memphis/Arkansas State was rained out. No, really. Guess there was some lightning too but jeez don't see that happen too often.

And yeah Virginia Tech is not National Title material. The ACC looks like it's going to suck again this year.

Texas just blew it open against TCU with a fumble return for a touchdown, 27-10. A shame because TCU really looked like they had a shot after the first half but Texas woke up.

Wow, a huge 49-yarder from Kelly ties up the game at 38 with 1:35 remaining.

I'm just hoping that Hawai'i makes it to Vegas 2-0 for next week's game. I don't want to sit in a crowd of morose UH fans.

EDIT: And now the pressure of the situation is getting to the Tech receivers. Two big incompletions that could've led to a game-ending FG.

I just jumped out of my seat - 45-44 Hawai'i wins. La-Tech went for 2 in the first OT, which was a good decision in hindsight with the way they were running the ball, but the UH corner (I think Elimimian) knocks it away to win the game.

Man, UK squashed Kent St. tonight 56-20, which I have to admit scares the shit out of me on some levels. Given how U of L played on defense the other night it looks like an actual high octane offense like UK could have a field day. That game will be possibly the most wild, wide open game of the year. One team is averaging about 65 a game, the other 53.

Auburn is just handing USF scoring opportunities but their kicker seems like he should have gone to Florida State.

UNLV leads Wisconsin 10-9 in the 3rd.

Watching Auburn/USF, I have to say that Dan Fouts is suprisingly solid as a play by play guy. His delivery is awkward and he makes the usually mistakes but he does fine for himself for someone with as little experience. I'd take him over Mike Patrick for sure

Delaware running back Omar Cuff is off to a fine start to the 2007 season. 244 yards with six touchdowns in the first game and a modest 93 yards with 4 rushing touchdowns this week in a half of play. Must be nice to be two games into a season and have 10 rushing touchdowns. With the touchdowns, he moves into second place all time at the school.

Now granted, this week it was against a Division 2 foe but it's a nice start for the guy. Hopefully he keeps it going cause the Hens are going to need every ounce of offense to make the playoffs and survive their defense.

You got to be kidding me. Five Auburn turnovers, this time getting the ball on their 3 yard line, and USF again fails to score.

Wisconsin still losing to UNLV now heading to the 4th.

It's funny but USF vs. Auburn tonight was such a trendy upset pick that I balked at it. The amusing aspect of the postgame was the announcers acting like it was some sort of program making win. Hell, they beat U of L by 31 in 2005 and for a big road win they beat WVU in Morgantown last year (I'm still trying to figure that one out). To me this was a mild upset tonight, but not some earth shaking, program changing win. USF has already gotten past that point.

As a Big East Fan, I am celebrating tonight. Not only did the Bearcats beat a Pac-10 team, but USF completes the 2-0 big game week by beating Auburn, despite the kicker fucking up.

Yay USF!! Yay Big East!!!

I guess it means they don't completely buy the Big East powerhouses as TRUE powerhouses, compared to what is now a second tier SEC team.

LSU finishes the night with 597 yards of offense against the highly-regarded V-Tech defense.

A good amount of those yards (about 200) came on drives late in the game when the 2nd stringers, like QB Ryan Perriloux and WR Terrance Tolliver, were in against the 1st string V-Tech defense.

If nothing else, this should siphon off some 1st place votes from USC and the one vote that West Virginia's been getting (They gave up 23 to Marshall in the first 3 quarters and were down at the half 13-6, so it wasn't like they were scoring on the 2nd stringers at the end of the game).

Really? Aren't voters usually hesitant to take votes away from an idle team? I mean with Michigan last season, they had basically lost their conference title game while Florida won theirs, so that's justified in voters putting Florida over Michigan after an idle week, but they are still in love with USC. Then again LSU did just beat the ridiculously high ranked VT.

Early in the season, rankings are supposed to be fluid because you're not sure how good teams are yet.

Changing rankings dramatically at the end of the season when a team is idle is generally frowned upon.

PS- Per the local radio guys, Brent Musberger was high on LSU during the game but his broadcast partner, Kirk Herbstriet, absolutely refuses to put them over USC despite dismantling a respected V-Tech program.

Well Kirk did mention that he wanted to see the USC/Nebraska game, then compare the two teams.

By the way, whoever mentioned in last week's thread that Colorado is happy with Cody Hawkins, as opposed to Colt Brennan. Still feel that way now?

I can't wait for Monday to roll around so I can witness the fallout from tonight's loss to South Florida on campus. Then again, AU fans grasp at any straw they can get (For instance, the large number of "Auburn - Some Number I Forget, National Champions - A Number Lower Than Auburn's Score" bumper stickers that cropped up after Florida won the title. Or "Auburn - 10, LSU - 9 stickers. Oh, shit, a whole point? Hot damn! Might as well bump you fellas up to the NFL.), so I'm sure there'll be some hardcore spinnage going on. At least the season is ruined and I shouldn't have to deal with too many obnoxious assholes. Oh, wait, I attend a major university, what am I talking about?

Also - damn UTEP losing to Texas Tech.

Additionally, when is Colt Brennan going to throw for an actual mile in one game?

OK, have a new Top 25 for this week. Feel a lot better than I did about last week's, although it's still pretty fluid and I'm not 100% sure about everything:

I think most people need to realize that nobody gives a shit about the Big East. Beating a Big East team means nothing.

Beating Auburn, OTOH, means a hell of a lot more. It's a big win, against a team with a lot of history in a big conference, on the road, and it was on national TV. Big non-conference wins make a program, not in-conference ones. Nobody that Boise State could have beaten in the WAC would have "made" their program. South Florida is on the national radar now.

I don't mind if people rank LSU ahead of USC now. I think they should wait another week before doing that, though. It really doesn't matter anyway, once this team beats Nebraska in Lincoln, USC will be the recognized #1 and few will object.

Considering that Nebraska almost threw the game away against Wake today, I'm not sure that whipping them at their home stadium would be more impressive than dismantling V-Tech on a national stage.

Not to turn this into a LSU vs USC dick measurement contest, but VT did look horrible last week too against a weak team (ECU was it?)

V-Tech's OFFENSE looked like crap.

Their defense only gave up 7 points.

Considering that Virginia Tech almost threw the game away against East Carolina last week, I'm pretty sure that blowing them out in a night game at Death Valley would be less impressive than winning at Nebraska.

FYP. Look, I'm totally on the LSU bandwagon as evidenced by my Top 25, but Virginia Tech's really not that good. Sean Glennon should be backing someone up in the Sun Belt and the Hokies' running game's really isn't that good either. As a Georgia Tech fan, I'm much more worried about BC and Clemson than Virginia Tech in the ACC.
