Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Tyrus Thomas. I'm free to chat on Tuesday or Wednesday all day, or any day of the week after 11:00 pm PST (I know, I know). But if not, I'll be happy to submit a list to Alf.
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I cant really chat, I'm out of the house most of the day, but I'd be happy to submit a list. I think in these later rounds the time limit should be knocked down to between 6 and 8 hours. Missing out on Ira Newble is a lot easier to deal with than missing out on Tim Duncan. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Is there any reason anyone can't be in here within a 12-hour period (besides Adam, obv.)? State whether you can or can't, and if not, state why.
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 No reason here. Got access just about all day everyday.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'm thinking if Adam's turn comes around again and he still hasn't shown up, then I'll just place the two highest guys on the list on his team, ala the live drafts.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 12 hours is iffy for me with work/commute etc., especially if the guy before me makes a pick in the AM. 24 seems fair for the next week or so, but I've also made all my picks in timely fashion and don't think be punished for other people slacking and I don't like the idea of sending a list of the players I'm targeting to a fellow league member. Nothing personal Alf.
Krankor 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'm more than fine with 12 hour time limits. I'm like IK, at this stage of the game i'm not concerned about possibly missing out on Rasho Nesterovic and having to settle for someone else that very well might not remain on my team longer than a month and a half. For me the last 4 rounds are always either hit or miss with my pick selections. There are still some quality players left that are difference makers for this round, but I think the last 3 rounds should be 12 hours at max.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'm pretty good with a 12 hour window but whatever works best.
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'm down for the 12 hour limit as well.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I can do around 12. With work (where I don't have net access) and all, 16-18 is more doable for me.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 Another idea I had was to switch to a live draft, and just go by the honors system with all the rounds we've done already. I think we can all trust each other enough to not steal other people's players. If I set the time for say, 11 PM ET on a certain night, could everyone make it in? alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) I guess for now we'll just wait and see where we're at next week. If nothing else, I can just set the league to where the scoring doesn't begin until the second week of the season, to give us time to get it done. I'd rather do that than people not get all the players they want. Edited October 18, 2007 by alfdogg
Krankor 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 I'm normally fine with Live Drafts but the only problem I see with a live draft is stuff will get fucked up if not everyone shows up and pre-ranks the players in order correctly. I've also known some people in some very few cases to have issues with the yahoo live draft java applet where they have a difficult time with applet not selecting the players the click on. I know I've commished a lot of yahoo leagues and unfortunately you can't force pre-rank players for teams so that creates an issue especialy if Adam is going to be gone for an extended period of time. A lot of these times aren't going to work out to well for the people from the West Coast, Hawaii, and Australia. Just another idea. We could always try and get people in the chat room at the top of the page a couple days in a row at the same time and try and get some of this shit done. The chat will serve as a way to get some rapid fire picks done because we need to get at least 8 or 9 picks a day at this rate to finish this. If you can't make the chat that night and it looks like you are going to have a draft selection pm a list to alf or someone else. I think that should work. I'm fine with the players I currently have, really, and I only have one player I'm actually targetting with my last couple picks anyways. I'm not sure anyone would really care about these last bottom feeders, anyways.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2007 How about just entering the draft results into Yahoo the way they are after the current round and let people use the waiver system to pick up the remaining players to fill the teams out? Probably a bad idea for alot of reasons i'm not thinking of but I figure I would throw it out anyways

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 How about just entering the draft results into Yahoo the way they are after the current round and let people use the waiver system to pick up the remaining players to fill the teams out? You can't do it like that, I don't think. You have to enter the entire draft at once.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Reduce the # of roster spots, enter draft results, then add back extra spots for us to fill?
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 How would the waiver order be determined though? Date teams signed up for the league? Last year's league standings?
Cartman 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 I assume he would be able to set up the draft order and enter players that way. Then waivers would be reverse of draft order? Like I said I dont know details of the commish stuff so I am just asking.
Krankor 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 Yes, that's how it always works with waivers. Who ever originally picked first in the draft gets the 20th waiver position and who ever picked last in the draft gets the first waiver position. Also if Alf feels the need, the commish can modify waiver order priority for each team. Reduce the # of roster spots, enter draft results, then add back extra spots for us to fill? This should be possible. I know we did something similar the other year when yahoo randomly decided to strip Fantasy Basketball of the DL position. We added an extra position after the draft was over to compensate. What could claim players one roster spot at a time and it'd still be like rounds kind of, but with waivers it'll still take about 2 to 3 days per round and that’s only slightly better than our current rate. We didn't finish the baseball keeper league draft on time this year and what we did with the last round was the commish took a list of prospective players from each team and went through and figure the draft picks out that way. If a team didn't submit a list than they automatically received the top free agent left according to the yahoo rankings. I think we should be ok on time if we can get everyone checking this shit frequently. I'd like to get most of the draft done before we have to try and get everyone to claim players off waivers to fill out rosters, mainly because I don't think everyone will do it and we'll have some teams for a short time without full rosters. Hell, I've got accounts on every instant messaging program, we could always try and get some group shit going on one of those things if no one wants to try the chat applet on the board.
