CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 Every time I hear Don Orsillo to open a broadcast, I keep thinking it's Sean McDonough. Their voices sound nearly identical.

Guest Gym Class Fallout Report post Posted October 1, 2007 In the aesthetic battle, I can't pick a winner. Urine-soaked yellow vs. black vests on black shirts. Hm. And that's some manly facial hair on Todd Helton, huh. By cracky.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 The place looks packed. I know people that live there that had real trouble getting tickets.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 1, 2007 Cool, I was curious how well they'd sell tickets considering they had 1 days notice and it's on a Monday.
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2007 This just made it's way to my inbox. Dear Mets Fan: All of us at the Mets are bitterly disappointed in failing to achieve our collective goal of building upon last year's success. We did not meet our organization's expectations -- or yours. Everyone at Shea feels the same range of emotions as you -- our loyal fans -- and we know we have let you down. We wanted to thank you for your record-breaking support of our team this year. Equally important, Ownership will continue its commitment in providing the resources necessary to field a championship team. Omar will be meeting with Ownership shortly to present his plan on addressing our shortcomings so that we can achieve our goal of winning championships in 2008 and beyond. You deserve better results. Many thanks again for your record-breaking support.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Question: I've noticed that gameday is still listing all of the players regular season stats. Does what happens today count for everyone's season totals?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Question: I've noticed that gameday is still listing all of the players regular season stats. Does what happens today count for everyone's season totals? Yes, stats today count for the regular season. That means Matt Holliday has a shot at the RBI crown (one behind Ryan Howard) and can lose the batting crown yet with a bad day. Edit: To clarify that last point, Holliday would need an 0 for 5 day to lose the batting crown.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Neat. So Jake Peavy could pick up win #20 too.
Richard 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Neat. So Jake Peavy could pick up win #20 too. And Jesse Jackson could be president.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Well, then. I was expecting a double play the way the night looked to be going, not a grand slam.

mike546 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 WTF is up with these start times? I don't think I've ever seen a Yankee playoff game start at 5 or 6 before.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 It goes under the radar, but it's worth mentioning that the Padres two days ago were one out from the playoffs.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 San Diego's in much better shape going to extra innings, having only used two pitchers. I'd be surprised if they lose this game at this point. Is this the first one-game playoff to go to extra innings? EDIT: Never mind, it is. Also only the second non-WS/LCS/LDS playoff game ever to go extras (the Dodgers and Braves went 12 innings in a 1959 three-game playoff game).

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 If you're San Diego, when do you bring in Hoffman? You can't just leave your best reliever on the bench while the game remains tied, can you?
Mik 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 San Diego having used only 2 pitchers is a non-factor, I think. As it's still technically the regular season, they are working with expanded rosters. Great game.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Well, they both have lots of pitchers left, but the Padres have a lot more good pitchers still available.
Richard 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2007 Hoffman's the reason we're in this mess though.
