ECW 9.25.07

Recommended Posts

As subscribers to WWE Mobile on AT&T saw in exclusive footage earlier this week, at the conclusion of the Fatal Four Way Match last Tuesday night, General Manager Armando Estrada announced a Triple Threat Match for the next ECW on Sci Fi. After the Fatal Four Way kicked off the Elimination Chase to No Mercy, Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorn and Tommy Dreamer will meet in a three-man melee.

Last week, the fighting ECW Original survived elimination, but both Burke (who won the match) and Thorn were fairly dominant in the Fatal Four Way contest. Will Tommy Dreamer’s revitalized quest to be ECW Champion be snuffed out tonight? Could Thorn’s documented animosity for Burke yield an unprecedented war between the former New Breed members? Which man will ultimately meet CM Punk in just two weeks at No Mercy?

Also on ECW on Sci Fi, Big Daddy V established himself as the bigger man in his rivalry with Boogeyman. Is there anything the worm enthusiast – or anyone for that matter – can do to stop this massive machine?

Balls Mahoney did what he’s wanted to do for weeks – ask out Kelly Kelly. She smiled, but was rushed out of sight before she could respond. Balls took that as a yes. Will we learn more next Tuesday?

Find out the answers to these questions and much more on the next ECW on Sci Fi on Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

Another edition of WWE's most passable show.

I think Punk should defend against Stevie tonight. Might as well as have Punk defend every week against whoever gets eliminated. He already beat all of them (except for Dreamer) multiple times, so what harm can it do? It's not like we'll ever get Punk vs. Stevie, Punk vs. Thorne, or Punk vs. Dreamer on PPV for the title, anyway.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

But if Punk defends the title against the loser of the Chase every week doesn't that render the Chase meaningless? I guess you could play up the "big payday" for the challenger because he'll be fighting the champ at the pay-per-view but I don't think creative would be smart enough to even play up that aspect of it.

I guess it would be better to have Punk not do anything until the PPV? Was he even on the show last week besides the 10 second segment with Burke after Burke won?

You can just make the match a non-title match. Present it as Punk wanted to give the guy a chance to redeem himself and he likes the competition and all that good stuff. Punk could also do commentary for the triple threat match.

I like that idea. So if I read correctly the winner of the three way gets the title shot?

The loser is eliminated from the "chase". The two survivors meet in a match next week, the winner of that faces Punk at No Mercy.

When Morrison comes back, does Knox lose the spot? Also, is ECW the land of the beards?

Maybe some sort of alliance with another heel? I could see him being the Miz's personal hitman. Sort of like Diesel.

Well, Miz has already used to dominate Balls. It would be a sensible pairing.

I thought Dreamer/Bruke/Thorn was sloppy but kept me interested through the storytelling. I feel bad for Tommy for lossing his hair.

They're streaching out the Balls-Kelly thing a little too long IMHO. There's the flirting, the relationship and the beatryle, I think we can move to the 2nd act by now.

The "Big Daddy V is the most dominant thing ever" thing kinda falls flat if you remember that he was in ECW as Mabel just long enough to be fed to Spike Dudley.

He wasn't bare-chested, though. There lies the power of Big Daddy V.

Another strong ECW show tonight. That 3 way was a nice antidote to Raw from last night. Dreamer is busting his ass these days, the guy is a much stronger actual wrestler than he was during his original ECW peak years (which was mostly him brawling and such).

Is it too much to ask for Tommy to get the win next week and face Punk on PPV? What is the point in Burke getting another title shot and jobbing on PPV? Why be so constantly lame and repetitive?

I'm expecting a double pin/draw finish to set up a 3 way at No Mercy. That, or Big V squashes them both and challenges Punk for the title.

Either that, or Dreamer wins, and V runs in the match at No Mercy. Dreamer gets taken out on the following ECW show

I'll admit I laughed at one thing in the striker/punk match. Striker was working over punks hand and was bending his fingers apart and he looked up at the crowd and yelled "see hes a big daddy V fan!" then he turned around to Vis and said it again. I thought that was pretty funny.

I hope they redo thorns character....I think he has potential..the gimmick just sucks

I just noticed those two old ladies in the first row and it's creeping me the fuck out.

You talkin bout the big one w/ yellow/white hair that Kevin Thorne almost smashed into?

She sat in front of me and over one and all I heard her say all night was something about Dusty Rhodes.
