Copper Feel Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 What is up with this recent trend of making American versions of quality British tv shows? First The Office, now The I.T Crowd, why not leave wonderful things untampered?
At Home Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 What's up with us already having hundreds of better television shows?
Slayer Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks for giving us American Idol, btw Assholes
Copper Feel Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 What's up with us already having hundreds of better television shows? Your opinion of Steve Coogan and Chris Morris?
Copper Feel Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks for giving us American Idol, btw Assholes I don't think the fact that America stole Britain's worst show exactly works in its favour!
Nighthawk Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 You know, I actually do quite like British television, but I've got to say the American version of The Office is better. That's about the only instance where it was improved.
Copper Feel Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 Ah, I far prefer the British version but the American one isn't too bad. I think I'm just a repressed nationalist deep down inside. This fact saddens me greatly.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I liked the UK Office well enough, but I'm just a big dumb American, so "yeah, I drove into a fucking lake" is more my thing.
luke-o Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 The American version of The Office is better due to the fact it doesn't have Ricky Gervais in it.
Slayer Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Thanks for giving us American Idol, btw Assholes I don't think the fact that America stole Britain's worst show exactly works in its favour! One funny (in a cringing sort of way) thing AI started is that it's apparently now a prerequisite that every single American "talent competition" show's judging panel include a smarmy Englishman
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 One funny (in a cringing sort of way) thing AI started is that it's apparently now a prerequisite that every single American "talent competition" show's judging panel include a smarmy Englishman "THAT AIN'T TRUE!" No, Mike Gundy, it is true! Even that stupid Try Out For Grease show had some foppish dandy goin' "if Sandy and Danny are not perfect, the show will fail." I don't get it.
Nighthawk Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 I would have just went ahead and said "dandy fop" instead of "foppish dandy".
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 I had an Onion calendar that had an article about a "foppish dandy" before I saw the Mr. Show episode "The Velveteen Touch of a Dandy Fop," so that's what always comes to mind first. Weird explanation, but it's an explanation. I was gonna make a Mike Gundy gimmick poster that just went around pointing out falsehoods on the board, but it wouldn't have been approved, and I'd have just run it into the ground after two days, anyway.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Let the gimmick live inside your current poster persona, Czech. It's much the same as I do with The Picture That Defines The Internet, although I mainly use that as a thread stopper.
Dandy Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 This series should continue with the next installment: Carlito Brigante.
DrVenkman PhD Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 This was just kind of a joke, no real intention of doing a follow-up. I was thinking of doing a new (1 part) series questioning the whereabouts of EL DANDY~! though.
B@RTOK Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 Thanks for giving us American Idol, btw Assholes Haha.
