Kawalimus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I am watching baseball playoffs and I keep seeing these terrible ads for the new show FRANK TV starring some impersonation comedian Frank Caliendo. What is this show anyway? What the hell is it supposed to be just a guy doing impersonations for 30 minutes? I looked for it on wikipedia or IMDB found nothing. But TBS really wants me to watch it. Personally to me it looks not funny at all. And the guy isn't even that good at his impersonations. Only a couple even sound right. The rest of em just seem like that other annoying joker something ANdy Milonakis would done. Can someone explain to me how this crap got on the air?
Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 http://www.frankcaliendo.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Caliendo http://www.tbs.com/video/0,,109600|346709|,00.html http://www.tbs.com/stories/story/0,,106645|346709|,00.html Tune in this Fall as TBS presents a new comedy starring the modern master of impersonation, Frank Caliendo. Whether he's lampooning the President or sending up the hottest celebs, you never know who Frank will show up as next. Frank's new show will be shot in front of a live audience, but will also include segments filmed at a variety of locations. Everything from current events to icons of the past will be fair game for this comic chameleon.
Kawalimus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I saw that stuff. But I still don't know what it's gonna be. Is it Just him doing impersonations the whole time? I mean come on that can't even last you one show let alone a whole season. TBS always talks about what's funny. Well I don't see a damn thing funny on TBS cause I never watch that except for these playoffs.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Some of the schills on TBS said it was a sketch comedy show.
Kawalimus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Ack good lord that is such horrible idea. So it's a sketch show. With one guy acting like a bunch of other guys who don't even do it very well. He does madden ok and his George W Bush is pretty good. But other than that it's just garbage. So it'll be like another SNL or Mad TV like we need another one of those. WHY do these people make these shows?

Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I like his work in small doses on assorted radio shows. Hell, I even saw his act live and it was pretty good... but I can't see this concept working as a long term series
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 If any show deserves to make it, that would be poolside chats with Neil Hamburger. Then again the network censors would rip the heart out of the show.
Kawalimus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 His John Madden voice sounds like Madden. But honestly the impersonation goes south cause he is too energetic as Madden. Madden don't act like that Madden is more oafy and slowish. He dance around and goes hysterical but Madden don't do that.
justsoyouknow 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 It's a show on TBS, so obviously it's not good.
treble 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I'd agree, but My Boys is actually half decent.
Richard 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 TBS has sucked ever since they canceled that show with the chimps.
Karnage 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I'm still wondering why TBS is all of a sudden called Peachtree TV.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 They seperated TBS that was in Atlanta from the TBS thats national and renamed the local atlanta side Peachtree TV. Frank Caliendo is pretty much only known for his John Madden impersonation which, when he first did it, was awesome, but he got carried away with it.

Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 Frank's Jim Rome is pretty good. I remember watching public access TV and they aired some show of his. It was pretty bad so I don't see this going far. Of course this is the same network that gave Bill Engvall a show.
Guest Tsukuyomi Report post Posted October 8, 2007 Kawalimus: I'm actually surprised you don't think his impressions are good. You're probably the first person I've ever hear say that. Personally, I think that he's dead on with a lot of his stuff. In particular, his Robin Williams is fantastic. Timmy8271: I just found his Jim Rome impression on YouTube from the Fox Football Pregame. That one just great. "Re. Markable. In. Credible. Count. Chocula." Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 his impressions are good, but I'm not sure they warrant an entire television show for an entire season.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 his impressions are good, but I'm not sure they warrant an entire television show for an entire season. Agreed, I've always thought of impressions as being more impressive than funny.
Guest Tsukuyomi Report post Posted October 8, 2007 I'll agree on an entire show of them: You can only do so many different combinations of the same people and stay fresh. He should really stick to comedy specials.
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 This is on tonight at 11 if anyone is still interested. After seeing Frank on NBA on TNT and his Charles Barkley impression... I'm setting it to record because there is a Charles skit on tonight's show. His Barkley is UNREAL.
