Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2007 Tough list this year. They are a few guys from that list that should be no-brainers, in my opinion: Volk Han Konnan Rey Mysterio Rock & Roll Express Midnight Express Don Owen Villano III

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2007 Anyone know if the class has been announced and who was on the ballot? Particularly curious if Chris Jericho was up for voting this year? Chris Jericho received 13% of the vote, so he was very close to being dropped from the ballot entirely. There aren't any interesting candidates coming up next year, so he should be able to gain a little steam, especially if his comeback yields any positive results. His run as Smackdown's top babyface helped the crossover appeal of American wrestling to the Hispanic audience. He wasn't a major draw, but what he did do will be looked upon fondly in the future. The Buzz 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2007 There is quite a few names on their that I would have thought would be in the HOF already. I mean Sting, Murdoch, The Anderson, Rude, Moolah, hell basically the entire list.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2007 There is quite a few names on their that I would have thought would be in the HOF already. I mean Sting, Murdoch, The Anderson, Rude, Moolah, hell basically the entire list. Sting hardly receives any support from the voters. I think it has to do with the fact that he spent his entire career in one territory and was never really the focal point of the promotion. Although I think you can point to periods where he drew money, the concensus is that he was more of a supporting part. Rude doesn't have much of a case and Murdoch seems the be the gatekeeper to the Hall. Everybody better than him is in and everyone worse isn't. Moolah is a historical figure, but most find her career to be a detriment to women's wrestling in America, not a positive. I suspect she'll eventually get in. Guest RyechnaiaSobaka Report post Posted November 8, 2007 So does Owen Hart get into these things because he died (and the circumstances of it), or do people actually consider his wrestling career to be worthy of a Hall of Fame?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 I don't think Owen is a HoFer to be honest.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 So does Owen Hart get into these things because he died (and the circumstances of it), or do people actually consider his wrestling career to be worthy of a Hall of Fame? Owen will never make the WON HOF. I'm not really sure the WWE will either, considering the circumstances of his death.

Guest Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Oh. I also wanted to point out how favorable the list is to those that were around in the days of the territories, and to those that ran their own territories.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Guys I'd vote for on the ballot. There's a limit of ten. Carlos Colon Bill Miller Fabulous Moolah Rey Mysterio Jr. The Rock Rock 'n' Roll Express Hans Schmidt Sgt. Slaughter Jimmy Snuka Sting Konnan belongs in the mexican category but I'm not otherwise qualified to make a judgment. I'd say none of the remaining wrestlers on the ballot make it without a shift in the voting process.
Boxer 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Does Meltzer have live a show or some sort of induction ceremony? Or is it just simply their name typed onto a list?
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2007 Does Meltzer have live a show or some sort of induction ceremony? Or is it just simply their name typed onto a list? He does a HOF issue of his newsletter, but that's the extent of it.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 Yeah, it's not like the WWE Hall of Fame where they make a huge deal about it...it's just a newsletter thing. As far as Owen Hart...I loved him and he was my favorite wrestler, but he was never the focal point of a promotion, and never held a belt higher than the IC Title. I think if he had lived, he probably would have had more achievements that would make him HoF worthy (I really believe he would have gotten at least a token run with the WWF Championship), but as it is, I don't think his career is quite that noteworthy. Oh, and who the heck is Tom Packs? I'm looking that one up right now.

Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 Why do they put active wrestlers on the list of candidates? That seems counter-productive to the whole concept of a "Hall of Fame"?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2007 Why do they put active wrestlers on the list of candidates? That seems counter-productive to the whole concept of a "Hall of Fame"? How many wrestlers really retire? I think the age is too low though. 25 years after a wrestler's debut, like the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame does, would be an ideal criteria. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2007 Yeah, but what's the point of having an active team like the Dudleys on there?
