Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I thought a consistent turd was worse than an inconsistent meathead? An actively horrible QB will make a coach's decision simple and obvious. Bench then trade Charlie Frye, for example. Grossman has been in limbo, wrecking the Chicago organization for multiple seasons.
Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted December 3, 2007 That's Keith Olbermann?! Jesus, you'd think they would have learned from the Rush Limbaugh debacle. Just because someone doesn't know about politics, doesn't mean that they will necessarily know a thing or two about sports. Olbermann went from doing Sportscenter with Dan Patrick to sort of floating around in broadcasting mediocrity till reinventing himself as The Edward Murrow Of Our Generation Just Ask Him, and then NBC decided to make him do sports again to cross-promote his horrible MSNBC show that can't even beat the shitty O'Reilly Factor in the ratings. Unless you were talking about Bob Costas, but I like Bob Costas.

Guest RyechnaiaSobaka Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Heh, Olbermann is bad at sports, but the real problem is that he began his career in sports and then decided one day that he is the defender of democracy and, as someone else said, the Edward R. Murrow of his generation. He's an obnoxious turd in both fields, and I look forward to when he is no longer alive. Furthermore, as a Panthers fan, dear God I'll explode if they acquire Rex Grossman. I don't see why they would. Delhomme will be fine next year, and they could get a young guy in the draft or something to groom as the long term starter. There is no reason to acquire a piece of garbage like Rex Grossman. How many games did Kyle Orton win a couple years ago when he was the starter (due to injury)? When Orton's in, they would run and play really good defense - which is what that team was built to do. But all season long they kept saying "When Rexy gets back, we're going to be awesome on offense! Rexy can make all the throws!" The problem, of course, is that Rexy would throw a bomb and it would get intercepted. Because he sucks. And so the Bears lost in the playoffs when they probably would have won if they had just kept Orton in, run the ball, and played good defense. But no, this is Dan fucking Marino time - we're gonna go deep! Rexy's got the arm!! And such is the problem, really, with Rex. He always plays his way out of the starting job, and so they put somebody else in there and inevitably as soon as the other guy has one bad game, people start saying that it's time to bring Rex back in because he has, as they said when they brought him back this last time, "quick strike ability." Maybe. He'll throw for 1 TD and 2 INT, but I guess that 1 TD might be a quick strike. It's unclear. So if they bench him again, the next time Orton or Griese has a bad game, they'll say the same things. Man, Rex could have made that throw. Rex wouldn't have thrown that bad pass. We should put Rex back in. He's got quick strike ability.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 The offense was built around Rex Grossman. So if the good Rex shows up, yes the Bears would be "awesome" on offense. As it is, since Rex isn't that good, they aren't awesome on offense.

USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 When Rex gets in, it seems like they like to pass the ball more often, because they have the receivers that can just run deep routes for Grossman to throw it out there. The offensive playcalling is designed to use the speed of the WRs and the arm of Grossman. Only except Grossman isn't very accurate and makes bad decisions. Do you remember who threw the big bomb TD pass to Hester this season? Some weak-armed slug named Brian Griese.

Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted December 3, 2007 I also remember Griese getting intercepted in the endzone like seven times in one game. The Bears have zero good quarterbacks, unless Kyle Orton had a much higher ceiling than we thought and decided to get serious about his career. A sign that at heart, I'm nothing but a true meatball: as I watched the Giants torch the Bears on big plays, in spite of Lovie's "bend but don't break" defensive philosophy, I thought to myself, "you know, would it really be the worst thing in the world if Mike Ditka still coached this team?" I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it. At least he wouldn't waste anybody's time in press conferences with dull statements and third-rate subterfuge like Lovie. mike546 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2007 What is it with the Giants year after year with ridiculous amounts of injuries? Ward is out for the year with a broken Fibula. Burress is playing on one leg, our number one RB is out, our rookie number two CB is out, one of our starting LBers is out for the year, our number 3 reciever hasn't played since week two, and we also played today without both of our starting safties. The RB situation, the offensive line, the defense is starting to show serious signs of decline (doesn't help that the same few guys get injured every year- Mike Brown I am looking at you), the only bright spot is Devin Hester and you gotta figure teams will eventually just stop kicking to him completely. Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Did you name yourself after the notable Chicago "resident" also known as Emaciated Street Yanni? Everything you said is true. In one year, this team fell into utter disrepair. Simply stunning. Benson is a goner, I have to believe. Fred Miller and Adam Archuleta are gone. What's the story on their salary cap? Man, I fuckin' hate the salary cap.

Guest Pizza Hut's Game Face Report post Posted December 3, 2007 Archuleta is on the Bears? Technically, but he's limited to a brisk trot, at best. You must have missed it when I said that we should sever his femoral artery as a sacrifice to the gods so that we can get the same emotional benefit that the Redskins got, but then that didn't work out, so we might as well keep him around.
