Guest Anubis Report post Posted December 27, 2007 The following is from 24Wrestling.com: John Cena is said to be making great progress in his rehabilitation. Both Stephanie McMahon and Brian Gewirtz are hoping he can return to action at WrestleMania. Upon his return, Cena will likely resume his feud with Randy Orton. If he does end up appearing at Mania, it will likely be a surprise run-in or advertised guest appearance. Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2007 I'm all for Cena making a run in, or something to that effect at Mania. The guy is the top dog in the company but you don't want to rush him along too fast so that he only hurts himself again.

They way he is going now, Kennedy won't be anywhere near WrestleMania to cause an injury.

He's Not Hogan It was Austin, who counted both Undertaker and Kane's shoulders down in a title match. That was Judgment Day 1998, he just attacked Kane and Taker and "Declared" himself the Champ.. Therefore, he was fired, and The Rock won it an the Survivor Series anyways... But I see where you are going.... but i doubt itll happen aGAIN
garfieldsnose 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2007 To nitpick, he counted both Kane and Undertaker down but didn't declare himself as champ. The whole deal was that Austin had to hand the title to the winner so he would be humbled. He decided he didn't want to be humbled so counted both men down. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2008 I'd be surprised if they did NOT work Cena into the card somehow. He won't wrestle, but he'll make an appearance.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Guest enforcer for Orton-Batista is the most probable. They'll tease dissension between each men with Cena, Cena prevents each from cheating during the match while the referee is rendered unconscious. Orton wins with a hesitat Cena making the count. Cena teases a FU on Orton but lets him free and walks away. If Cena gets involved with Orton, I can't see HHH willing to be overshadowed. Otherwise, Cena would have to be used merely for a comedy skit or involved with a lesser program and that's a waste.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I'd think anything at Mania would be a waste, outside of him maybe showing up and cutting a promo to break the show up a bit (like Batista did during one of his lay-offs). Cena's return is a natural money spinner for the company if booked right. WrestleMania is probably the one show all year where they don't need to rely on that boost. His first physical involvement in a match (as a referee/enforcer, as Hawk said, or something along those lines) could easily boost the buyrate for one of the B-shows. And his first match back, even more so.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 The argument against that is WM is the flagship show for WWE and they would want Cena involved in some capacity but on a meaningful and hyped level. Also, Cena's return match will have to be on PPV and that'll be a big attraction, so you're going to get another big PPV regardless as long as WWE doesn't pull a WCW and do it on free tv. King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I can see where you're coming from. I guess it depends on the RAW side of the main-event. If it's Orton vs. Batista, they might also feel the need to have Cena involved as an 'insurance policy', since it'd be the first Mania main-event for both without a big star opposite. Maybe it's just the idea of Cena over-shadowing other people that I'm not keen on. If it is, for example, Orton/Batista with Cena as guest enforcer, the guy on the outside is going to as focused on as the guys inside, which I don't like the idea of for a Mania main-event (assuming in that scenario that Edge and Undertaker don't go on last). My preference would be Cena as guest commentator. Cena gets announced in advance, he can definately add something to the match from the announce position, plus you've got the tease of a run-in in the background without it being a big distraction. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 It's hard to promote "Cena will announce!", having him come out as a surprise is ineffective. Edge/Taker appears locked to be the show closing main event, so having that match which would have Orton going over wouldn't close the show. WM has a good history of having name attractions (in house or outside names) as a enforcers/referees in big matches, so it would give Batista-Orton some sense of value. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Did I miss something here? Why is it the assumption that it would be Orton vs Batista not Orton vs HHH or Batista vs HHH?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 You think HHH would let himself play second fiddle to Cena? The idea of thinking was that Cena would be an added boost to a match with the likes of Batista/Orton.
