Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 The theme was Beatles songs, which opened up the possibility of doing Harrison and (conceivably) Ringo Starr songs. More disappointment this week, although I can't say that I'm upset to see Amanda go. I think the group as a whole would benefit from being able to do more recent songs in the next few weeks, as in many cases they've not yet been able to perform anything that was written during their lifetimes. And I still refuse to concede an Archuleta win.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 I won't concede it at all. If he truly blows it again and flops then I think he will be gone. As far as Kristy Lee's hotness, she might not be the hottest girl on earth but she's still hotter than Amanda.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 Kristy Lee's in the middle of a mini-Sanjaya run right now. Surely she won't make it through another week. Oh, and fucking Idol Gives Back returns on April 9. Booo, African children, booo!

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 and Kristy survives again. Can't belive Carly was in the bottom 3 with a stronger perfomance this week. So if anyone goes to the tour you'll see Robotic Country Singer Kristy. and they got rid of perhaps their one unique singer in Amanda.(even if she was getting boring a bit) I still wish they would have kept Asia'h instead of Kristy or Syesha. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 Amanda wasn't going to stick around longer anyways and once they can get Kristy to her own niche (which she wasn't going to get with Beatles) she'll have that chance to prove herself. Kristy isn't comparable to Sanjaya. Archie is more comparable to Sanjaya and the sad reality is that he'll go even further. I wouldn't make a big issue out of Carly being in the bottom three, I believe all winners or late contenders spent a week in the bottom three. It usually lets the viewers realize that they aren't as safe as they think. Paula was spot on about David Cook being smug and arrogant all the sudden. Cook knows he is on the Daughtry path right now and will run with it. I think Brooke might have surprassed Carly as the best female vocalist. What is the theme next week? Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2008 He's bad and botches songs but people like him anyways. What's wrong with that comparison? A more accurate comparison actually is Kevin Corvais from season 5 and he lasted longer then he should have as well.
4hartthreat 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 He's not bad and he botched A song. Simon likes him and Simon is hard on anyone who isn't just about flawless. I don't like having to defend this kid, because I'm not sure that I think he's the best of the bunch. But the amount of front-runner hate he is getting is absurd. If you don't like him the best that's fine, but comparing him to Sanjaya or Kevin is just stupid.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 The Kristy-Sanjaya comparison is based on her clearly being the worst contestant for several weeks, but inexplicably surviving at the expense of more talented people. Remember, it wasn't until this time last year that Sanjaya really started to pick up steam and go nuts with his hairstyles. We'll see what Kristy has in store for us. Maybe she'll threaten to fellate Simon again.
4hartthreat 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 I don't have a problem with a Kristy-Sanjaya comparison. I have a problem with Hawk comparing Archuleta to Sanjaya.

godthedog 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2008 i think of kristy as being more like pickler from season 5--good voice, cute and charming, but growing steadily more out of her element as the weeks go on and barely scraping by on a consistent basis. my feeling is that she, like pickler, will make it to the top 6. she's having really basic problems, like keeping up with the beat and listening to herself--it's like she couldn't decide what the melody of the chorus was supposed to be. i hate to admit that archie (or "fievel" as my friend calls him) did one of the 3 or 4 best performances this week. he does deserve some credit for coming back strong after last week, especially when so many of the people around him fell flat on their faces. i was wrong about him, and it will take weeks before america figures out that he can only do one kind of song right--and by that time, they may not even care. david did a good "day tripper," but i'm finding it hard to care. he's giving good performances consistently and doing things different from the other contestants, but he's not really taking risks or challenging himself anymore. how about he tries something with a different tempo, or makes his voice do things we haven't heard? he's still my favorite right now, but his cockiness may lead to an early departure (around 7 or 8). shit like michael johns is exactly why the recent opening of the beatles' catalog scares me. michael, despite all his smoldering earnestness and likability, should be shot for even attempting "a day in the life." way to take the best song by the best band ever and take away all the things that make it great. the fact that he's 29 and hasn't grown out of that drooling fanboy desire to play that song just because it's so awesome or because of his dead friend, without bothering to think about whether or not it works, disturbs me. messing up the words was bad, but the way he sang "tuuurnn yoooou oooon" was worse--he couldn't oscillate on it the way lennon could, and it just sounded really off-key. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2008 Chikezie is my sleeper pick...dude is good when he has the right material...unfortunately he will not beat out Archuletta or David Cook. Yknow I agree. I Like Chikezie for some reason. He's got some talent and he just seems like a cool dude and he is so excited to be there you can feel it in his performances. Plus he has no ego and takes everything the judges say and listens (well maybe not from simon). He hasn't had too many bad moments, and screw Simon I dug the harmonica solo. I'm waiting for him to blow us all away one week. and speaking of Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais, did I see him in the audience on the results show or was I seeing things? if so, whos next? John Stevens? this weeks theme is "songs from the year you were born" hopefully they make osme good choices. I think if they get to pick from songs they actually know (I'm talking to the young-uns here) they may have a better week.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2008 Amanda probably could've sung Free Bird... OK, so she's not 33, but girl looked older than me at times, and I'm 34...

starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 OK, to start, fuck the Archuleta fans. Cook or Brooke should be the one winning this competition, but we know that's not gonna happen. Archuleta butchered a song that was shitty to begin with and I'm pretty sure barely registers with the average viewer. Frankly, I wouldn't have been able to tell you it was John Farnham without the magic of Google (I would've said John something). Anyway, the point was that it was crap, but Paula's right - Archuleta could sing anything and he'll get votes. On the other hand, Ramiele was brutal, she had some sort of ugly skort and she still has cement shoes. Chikeze bores the shit out of me, and I'm tired of Jason Castro's schtick. So that means that Kristy probably goes home. So let's take a look at Kristy's highlights: Kristy Dancing Yep.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 you think Kristy Lee Cook should be winning this thing? WHAT??? Oh hell, no. But she at least had a decent week + played the patriotic card. And of course, dances like she knows she's gonna be working at Treasures with Pickler.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 haha working at Treasures, I like that. Pickler really needs to be on film with a cock in all of her holes. This thing is Archuletta's to lose, let's just face it, gang. Sadly, I didn't get a chance to watch last night, had a ton of errands I had to take care of I wish they'd just let a professional pick these songs for the contestants. It's not like they'll be singing their own songs anyway once they make an album. These kids have no idea how to pick a good song that fits their style. Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 That shit Archuleta sang last night was terrible. I hate this guy more and more with each passing week. Bottom three is Ramiele, Syesha, and Kristie Lee with Ramiele going home.
Drury37 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 I do not even know where to get started. I thought Dave Cook was excellent, Kristy Lee Cook saved herself, but I was shaking my head at David Archuleta. You were born in 1990, you should sing a song that basically everyone would know. I think "Wind of Change" by The Scorpions would have been a great pick for him. I think the biggest mistake of the night was by Ramiele sing "Alone" by Heart. Consistent American Idol viewers remember Carrie Underwood bring the joint down when she sang that in Season 4. Somewhere Underwood was rolling in Tony Romo's grave when Ramiele was singing last night. She was just way in over her head, it is like if Wilson Betemit tried to wear number 7 for the New York Yankees.
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 Neither Underwood nor Tony Romo are dead. Furthermore, Romo is now linked to Jessica Simpson. And it seems like everyone does that goddamn Heart song on the show. It's the new "Ain't Too Proud to Beg."
yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted March 26, 2008 Top ten spoilers as compiled by me using the information on the Dial Idol website. I missed it last night so I can't comment on the performances. That said your top 3 vote getters are David Cook, David Archuletta, and Carley Smithson. Those are the only 3 guaranteed to be safe. The rest were too close to call for sure but the likely bottom 3 is going to be Ramielle (sad face - she's adorable), Jason Castro (indifferent), and Chickeze is your likely going home tonight which I think is a bummer because I think he is fantastic. Again this is based on I didn't see it last night and based on an unscientific survey of busy signals. As far as a state by state break down like I did last year: Chikeze was the top vote getter in no states and actually bottomed out in Ohio, Indiana, and Florida. You know places that don't know music. ( I can say that I have loved ones in 2 of those 3 states) Ramielle was the top vote getter in California and South Carolina which to me if she's getting the most votes out of one of the biggest states means she's at least safe this week. She bottomed out in Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Alabama, and Georgia. Sad face. Jason Castro was the top vote getter in Jamiaca....wait... North Dakota..what the...? Well ok then. There's a hemp fan base in North Dakota apparently. What are there like 5 people there? seriously. He bottomed out in Maryland, Virgina, and New York. There's hope for them Yankees just yet. The middle of the pack: Kristy Lee Cook - My girlfriend (I wish) was the top vote getter in Oregon. Ok then. She bottomed out in North Carolina which surprises me considering she's got the whole 'country' fan base thing going on. Brooke White - I'm starting to think she's pretty cool. She was the top vote getter in Arizona and West Virginia which is a pretty interesting stat. She bottomed out in no states. Michael Johns - He's my dark horse candidate. I actually think when he or David Cook is voted off, it'll be because the other one split the vote. Once gone the other one will pick up the other's votes. Anyway, he was the top vote getter in...Maine. Right. He bottomed out in Texas. I'm not surprised in the least. Paranoid Texans fear the accent. Syesha Mercado - I think she's going to surprise some people. She's got some talent. She was the top vote getter in Vermont and Louisiana. Good choice by my home state I think though we had been pretty consistently voting for Kristy so I might have to get more vote happy next week. Syesha bottomed out in Missouri and California. Now for your predicted top 3: Carly Smithson - probably the lowest vote getter of the top 3. Seems her fan base responded in droves to cover for her bottom 3 visit - plus fans of rocker chicks that were voting for Corella de Ville probably switched over to her. She was the top vote getter in New York, Missouri, and Nebraska. She bottomed out in no states. David Cook - Nothing really witty I can say about this guy. He's pure class and talent. Maybe a little cocky, but he's a musician ;-) He was the top vote getter in a good bit of states: Washington, New Hampshire, Maryland, Conneticut, New Jersey, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Virginia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Arkansas, North Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Screw you for making me type all that out. He bottomed out in no states. Rain man---boy---ah David Archuletta. Ok this kid is talented. Still doesn't mean I like him. But no seriously, best of luck to the guy. From what I can tell, if he wins, he'll deserve it. And good for him too. I just don't like them predicting winners this early. It causes backlashes. Either way, he was the top vote getter in the following states: Idaho, Wyoming, Utah (they allow music!?), Colorado, New Mexico, Iowa, Mississippi, and Kentucky. I really think he's lost votes. Usually the map is a blanket contingent of David Archuetta. This leads me to believe the voters for Amanda and David Hernandez switched to David Cook exclusively with minimal exception. Archuletta bottomed out in no states. The following states were too close to call or results were not available for a clear cut top vote getter: Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, South Dakota, and Nevada. Alaska and Hawaii probably the former. Montana, probably the militia up there was too busy gearing up for war to vote. Nevada was too busy sinning and SD was probably frozen. The following states were too close to call or results for not available for a clear cut bottom dweller: (no score from) Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Montana, and South Dakota. My previous musings stand. The results were too close to call in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, South Carolina, Main, New Hampshire, Vermont, Mass., Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Delaware. So there ya go. These results are not guaranteed neither accurate nor inaccurate or your money back!
