Brad Renfro died

Recommended Posts

Kids was atrociously bad with nothing but hateable characters.

Bully, oddly enough, what with all the rape and drug abuse, almost every single character was, if not likeable, then sympathetic.

And Nick Stahl, Michael Pitt, and Leo Fitzpatrick all ruled equally.

Kids was the most realistic movie Larry Clarks ever made.

It doesn't matter if you didn't like the characters... That wasn't the point of the movie. All the characters in Bully were even bigger scumfucks. I'm pretty sure everyone who wasn't a nerd and thought they were bad asses during their adolescence years could relate to the movie.

Kids was realistic, I'll grant you, but Bully was, ya know, an actual true story. Light years better then Kids.

Bully was BASED off a true story, Larry Clark fabricated the truth in the movie. Nick Stahl's character isn't even a whiteboy.

I guess Kids is one of those movies, you really have to relate to. I acted like most of those guys in the movie(aside from skateboarding) during my teenage years.

well they had to pretty up the characters a bit...the only ones who look even close to reality were Brad Renfro (frighteningly close) and the guy that played the fat scared cousin.

Nick Stahl was black?

Any did anyone see that one movie by Clark that was supposed to be his worst one? Not bad, but just very graphic and what not.

Ken Park? Yeah, I've got a bootleg of it. It's... okayish. Not as graphic as you might think.

And actually Nick Stahl's character was in real life an Iranian. And also buff as hell. I believe they made him white so as not to imply any racial motivations in the event because there really weren't any. Nick Stahl was able to convey menace in his acting even though he wasn't very imposing physically. Part of why he's a good actor.

Maybe I'm the crazy one for not relating to teenage date rapists.

yeah I watched that awhile back at like 4am and had no idea what the hell was going on.

I watched it at a reasonable hour and was not much better off.
