CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I can't honestly imagine any GM in the league saying "What, you want us to have Ray Emery? Sure, send em over."
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I've probably flip-flopped about this over the last six weeks or so; I'd rather have Price over Huet in net in the playoffs.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Tuomo Ruutu to the Canes for Andrew Ladd.
Guest Michael Myers Resplendent Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 A lot of Hawks fans will be happy about that. They didn't feel he was going to fit with Savard. Few European players seem to. I'm a little frustrated, because I remember him being drafted a few years ago and hearing that he was gonna be one of the big parts of our inevitable turnaround. Then again, Eric Daze. So tell me about Andrew Ladd.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Won a Cup in 06 with the Canes; That's about all I can offer.
CanadianChris Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I can't honestly imagine any GM in the league saying "What, you want us to have Ray Emery? Sure, send em over." He's 25 and went to the Cup finals last year. He'll get another couple of chances. Sens picked up Marty Lapointe for a sixth-rounder, less than what Florida paid to get Wade Belak. I know which of those two I'd rather have.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 The Avs traded for Ruslan Salei about an hour ago; they've also got a deal worked out, with no specifics, for Adam Foote. From what I understand, only two teams were privy to the Rob Blake sweepstakes: Colorado and Anaheim. We'll see - Burke hasn't done anything so far. As I was typing that, Darren Dreger reported Sergei Federov is headed to Washington.
treble Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 It's awkward having John Ferguson on there, with them pretty much just ripping him for giving out so many no-trade clauses.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 It's now time for The Battle of GM's You Dislike More Opening round shots: Brian Burke's response to James Duthie's question "I could answer that a lot more effectively if I could hear you." Or, Mike Milbury while discussing NTC's with union head Paul Kelley (Kelly?) "Oh, they wanna play in the same city, stay with their families? That's great - be a damn plumber."
CanadianChris Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Canucks trade Matt Cooke to Washington for Matt Pettinger. Enough of these piddly little deals, I want another blockbuster.
CanadianChris Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Damn, TSN's website appears to be down. That's no good.
treble Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Sportsnet has a rumour of Hossa going to Pittsburgh.
Smartly Pretty Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 If the Rangers don't make a move for a defensemen today - especially with Mara out for a couple weeks now - we're just ASKING to miss the playoffs.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 teehee...Kaleta broke his face... Anyway...
Guest Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I think the Kings are going to be the first last-place team in FOREVER to not do anything on deadline day. This sucks.
BifEverchad Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 5 minutes to go and no Hossa trade? What in the frig?
BifEverchad Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 5 minutes to go and no Hossa trade? What in the frig? GONE TO PITTSBURGH!?!? Shhhhhit..
CanadianChris Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Leafs send the Hal "The Human Pylon" Gill to Pittsburgh for two picks.
treble Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Atlanta got a good haul for him, too.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 For Armstrong, Christensen, Esposito, and a first-round pick. Meaning the Capitals might as well have stolen armfuls of memorabilia from the Bell Centre as long as they were getting Huet.
BifEverchad Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 There goes my hopes for Montreal's playoff run. (also, add Pascal Dupuis with Hossa in that trade)
Guest Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Ha, Chris Simon got traded to the Wild. Sure would like to see the Ducks play them again in the playoffs...
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Pittsburgh getting Hossa trivialises, even further, the Huet trade.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Brad Stuart to the Wings for second and fourth rounders.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Bruins, Sens, Canucks, Ducks are all done for the day, reports TSN.
Guest Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Terrible. We don't need more picks. I'm so close to quitting on this team and liking the Panthers or something. I'm getting tired of this shit.
nl5xsk1 Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Pittsburgh overpaid for Hossa, IMHO. Even adding him to that stable of talent won't put them over the edge and win them a Cup. At least they kept him from the competion (MTL, OTT, BOS) and losing the players that they traded away won't leave them bereft of young talent. If Boston had to trade away the equivalent, without any guarantee of re-upping him beyond this year, I'd have been an unhappy nl5. Brad Stuart to the Wings for second and fourth rounders. Is Stuart purely a rental, or is he signed beyond this year? If it's the former, I'd have been Ok with Boston reacquiring him for just those two picks ... but after watching him suck when he was here last year, I'd prefer not to see him in Black & Gold next season.
nl5xsk1 Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 So unless he goes to Boston, Calgary, LA or Detroit as a FA, he'll be on his 5th team in less than two calendar years. Impressive.
