Anakin Flair Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 I was shocked they asked him to do it, considering the delays on Astonishing X-Men. I think th only reason Buffy Season 8 comes out on time is because he has other writers on it.
Steviekick Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 It's a shrewd business decision for Marvel. By having Whedon's name on the cover, they've just upped it's value in the bookstore market 400%.
Anakin Flair Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 So wait- the guy who can't get a ook out to save his life is allowed to 'kill off' Shadowcat in Giant Astonishing X-Men? What bullshit is that?!
SamoaRowe Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 I think it was more of "writing out" than "killing off." There will be a return, when they are good and ready.
Steviekick Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 It's pretty shitty. I really haven't liked Whedon on Astonishing X-Men or even Runaways.
Anakin Flair Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 I know she's not dead. It's just that she's been a favorite character of mine since I got into Comics, even when I didn't read books with her. She's the only character I wen't out of my way for to get her first mini-series (actually bought it off of ebay). I think it's more of the principle of the thing. Astonishing is like two years behind all of the other books. Whedon, despite being a brilliant writer, can't make a deadline with Marvel to save his life, and I don't think they should have allowed him to write her out if he couldn't be a more reliable author. Still, I can see Marvel using her return either as a tie-in to the Invasion, or possibly as a continuation of the whole Emperor Vulcan deal.
Anakin Flair Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Finally read Runaways 30, and despite that I was completely lost in the story (why were they fighting? Who was the new little kid? What's with Willow?) I thought it was a solid book. One thing I was aprehensive about was the preview of the cover of the new Runaways 1- dear god, I hope the art in the book isn't as bad as the cover, because the cover looks like shit. And speaking of subpar art and Runaways, the Runaways/Young Avengers Secret Invasion book is out. Good story, sub-par art, but hey- it's Young Avengers.
starvenger Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Chris Yost is writing that, so you better pray that noone dies...
