Prime Time Wrestling – 02/04/85

@ Brantford, Ontario

The show kicks off with a voiceover (Vince McMahon) highlighting the big happenings at Wrestlemania.

We see still pictures of the following –

*Hogan retaining the title against Piper and the aftermath of the majority of faces lifing Hogan up to the adoring fans.

*A picture of the returning Bruno Sammartino is shown – embracing his son David.

*Andre The Giant giving Bobby Heenan’s money away to the crowd at Madison Square Garden.

*Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka wearing a crimson mask and being strechered out, after his victory over Don Muraco.

*Pictures of Celebrities – Cyndi Lauper, Muhammed Ali and Mr T also shown.

Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson put over what a great show it was –

First Match of the night sees –

Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated SD Jones with a powerslam (4.22). Patterson takes shots at Jones throughout the match for his extra quick loss to newcomer King Kong Bundy at Wrestlemania. Jones fares a bit better here actually taking The Anvil to a close match. Jones also has his ribs tapped up to sell the avalanche he received on Sunday night. Jimmy Hart joins the commentary team and says he has been in contact with Bret Hart after his defeat to Greg Valentine, but he has still yet to be given an answer as to whether or not his services are required. Jimmy makes a point of saying he doesn’t like to be kept waiting.

Interview with Brutus Beefcake (w/Johnny Valliant), conducted by Mene Gene. He moans that he should have been main eventing Wrestlemania as he is the true WWF World Champion. He says that he has signed a rematch with Hulk Hogan that will take place on 16/4/85.

Up next is tag action as WWF Tag Team Champions The US Express (Barry Windham & Mike Rotundo) (w/ Capt. Lou Albano) pinned Matt Borne & Frank Marconi. Marconi is finished off with Rotundo’s airplane spin. Total Squash for the champs. (3.44) This was non-title.

Next is an update of “Cowboy” Bob Orton’s injury at the hands of Bruno Sammartino. Orton is furious as he has broken his arm and will now have to wear the arm in a cast.

We see a full match clip of King Kong Bundy destroying SD Jones in under 10 seconds at Wrestlemania – This leads us to –

King Kong Bundy (w/Jimmy Hart) pinned Swede Hanson after the Avalanche at (2.21) Another impressive victory for the newcomer – who will be capable of stopping this giant of a man? Bundy gets the five count and not the standard three. The Swede only just fairs better than Special Delivery. During the match close ups are shown of children’s faces, who appear in awe of the dominance of Bundy.

Music video of The Junkyard Dog is aired.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat pinned Terry Gibbs at (3:36) with a crossbody off the top. McMahon is amazed at the athleticism of Steamboat. Patterson has to agree and can see this guy going far in the federation.

Interview with Ricky Steamboat after the match, conducted by Vince McMahon. Steamboat puts over what a honour it is to be competing in the best wrestling federation in the world today and he is here to not only excite the fans, but also win some gold to wear across his waist. Steamboat has only been in the federation a month or so and already he is one of the most over babyfaces on the roster.

We learn that a huge six man tag team match will take place on Wrestling Challenge as Big John Studd, Ken Patera and Don Muraco will meet Andre The Giant, Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka and The Jukyard Dog. Also “Cowboy” Bob Orton, with broken arm and “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff will meet Tony Atlas and George Welles.

The show finished with a tag match as Davey Boy Smith & The Dynamite Kid defeated Rene Goulet & Buddy Rose (6.55) Hard fought match between these two teams with the newcomers coming out on top, after Smith pins Rose after a running powerslam. We learn during the match that Goulet actually requested this match as he was not happy to lose to the newcomers a couple of weeks back. This time he has a more experienced parter in Rose. The british duo certainly look the real deal, as the show fades with the new team soaking up the cheers from the crowd.

Wrestling Challenge – 06/04/85

@ San Diego, CA

Gorilla Monsoon and Jess “The Body” Ventura are the commentators as we kick off with a title match.

Intercontinental Champion Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine submission victory over Mr Wrestling II with the figure four leg lock. (7.21)

Valentine got on the mic after and said that nobody in the federation will be able to beat him and that one day he will be the Undisputed Champion as he will be the holder of both the Intercontinental and World Titles. Tito Santana takes exception to this and tells Valentine to shut his mouth and anytime he is ready to go one on one again with Santana he will be more than happy to oblige.

The commentators put over what a great rivalry there is between Valentine and Santana, and that it was Santana that originally dropped the belt to Valentine back in September last year. Ventura puts Valentine over as the greatest Intercontinental Champion ever and puts over his amazing competive spirit and he is whata fighting champion is all about.

Preview for the Hulk Hogan / Brutus Beefcake rematch for the WWF Title, which will take place on the 16/04 edition of Prime Time.

The Foreign Leigon (Nikolai Volkoff & the Iron Sheik) (w/ “Classie” Freddie Blassie) defeated Brian Mackney & Paul Roma. When Volkoff pinned Mackney after a back breaker at (3.24). Ventura discusses how unlucky The Foreign Legion are to not be tag team champions, after coming up just short againstThe US Express at Wrestlemania.

A feature is put together that highlights some of the top tag teams in the federation – we see clips of The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff, Tony Atlas and George Welles and the champs The US Express all being victorious in numerous matches. Watch the WWF for the best tag teams in the World.

Ivan Putski pinned Goldie Rogers with the Polish Hammer at (3:08).

We then get an interview in the back with Mene Gene and "Cowboy" Bob Orton (w/cast) and "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff. Orndorff says it is disgraceful what Bruno Sammartino did to his good friend Orton. Mene Gene courageously brings up that maybe it was karma due to what they did to him in the first place – the heels take offence to this and go to “rough” Mene Gene up……but here comes George Wells and Tony Atlas for the save.

Up next after the break will be "Cowboy" Bob Orton (w/cast) and "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff V George Wells and Tony Atlas.

"Cowboy" Bob Orton (w/cast) and "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff pinned George Welles and Tony Atlas as Orndorff pinned Atlas after he was whacked with Orton’s cast. (8.44)

Orton and Orndorff use’s the injury to their advantage.

Up next before the main event is an interview with Bobby Heenan, Big John Studd, Ken Patera, Mr Fuji and Don Muraco. They say that in the next match they will avenge their losses from Wrestlemania.

Andre the Giant, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, & The Junkyard Dog defeated Big John Studd, Don Muraco, & Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan and Mr Fuji) at (14.55)

The heel managers tried to interfere at every opportunity. This lead to the referee sending the managers to the back. The match finished when Junkyard Dog pinned Ken Patera with a running shoulder tackle. Snuka was wearing plasters on his forehead, to sell the beating he took from Muraco at Wrestlemania. The heat for this match was huge, as poor Patera is the fall guy once again.

Show goes off air with the faces being victorious as we are told by the commentators to tune into PrimeTime as Rowdy Roddy Piper will face Tito Santana one on one. Also in action will be monstourous newcomer King Kong Bundy and David Sammartino.

Prime Time Wrestling – 09/04/85

Poughkeepsie, NY - Mid-Hudson Civic Center

Show kicks off with Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson. They put over that in this ring next week we will see the World Wrestling Federation Title on the line as Hulk Hogan will meet Brutus Beefcake in a rematch from last month. Patterson says that Beefcake has every right to feel aggrieved at not having the championship around his waiste.

First match of the night is tag action as Davey Boy Smith & The Dynamite Kid defeated AJ Petruzzi & Steve Lombardi at (3:39) Davey Boy finishes off Petruzzi with the running powerslam. Another impressive victory for the new tag team from England. A great addition to the tag team ranks.

Interview by Lord Alfred Hayes with Bret Hart. They discuss his big match at Wrestlemania against Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, and just how close he came to calling himself an Intercontinental Champion. Bret says tonight he faces a man he has already beaten twice....Ken Patera, and that another victory over the former champion, will get him a rematch against Valentine.

King Kong Bundy (with Jimmy Hart) pinned Jose Luis Rivera and Rick McGraw in a handicapped match. Bundy delivered an Avalanche in each opposite corner on McGraw and Rivera, and then did the double pin on them both at (2.30) Again Bundy made the official count to 5 and not the standard 3. During the match Jimmy Hart joined the commentators and put Bundy over as a monster. Also he talked about scouting Bret Hart again in his match later tonight. Jimmy says Bret will see that the best business decision will be to sign him up as his manager.

Promo for next weeks title defence between Hogan and Beefcake.

David Sammartino (with Bruno Sammartino) pinned Matt Borne after a DDT at (4.11). The Sammartino’s get on the stick after the match and demand a match with “Cowboy” Bob Orton and “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff next week. Bruno vows to break Orton’s other arm.

Show then cuts to the commentators who again talk about next weeks addition of Prime Time as we have two blockbuster matches as it looks as if The Sammartino’s will meet “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton and Brutus Beefcake meets Hulk Hogan with the World title on the line.

Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan) pinned Bret Hart with a fallaway slam at (10.21). Great match between these two. Bret was unable to defeat Patera (who himself has been on a bit of a losing streak lately). After the match was over Jimmy Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart stood in the aisle and baited Bret about his loss. Jimmy is heard saying “join me”, as Bret looks on thoughtful yet disappointed in himself. It would appar that Jimmy Hart’s business decision is really weighing on Bret’s mind.

In the Main Event Tito Santana won by D/Q over Rowdy Roddy Piper at (14.43) when the Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine run down the aisle for the interference. The match is then thrown out as the show fades….. It didn’t look like there was ever going to be a clean finsh in this match. Piper very rarely does the job and Santana looks primed to reignite his feud with Valentine over the secondary title.

Wrestling Challenge – 13/04/85

@ Landover, MD - Capital Centre

The regular team of Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura welcome us to proceedings as they take us to the closing moments of Tuesday night’s Prime Time wrestling that saw the match between Tito Santana and Rowdy Roddy Piper end in disqualification due to the interference of Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. Tonight we are told will be an addition of Piper’s Pit and his guest will be the champion himself Mr Valentine.

We head to the ring for tag team action -

The Foreign Leigon (Nikolai Volkoff & the Iron Sheik)[/b] (w/ “Classie” Freddie Blassie) pinned Tony Atlas and George Welles at (6.34) when Sheik pinned Welles with an elbow drop after a kick to the face. Ventura praises Blassie’s managerial skills, as a lesser team would have slid down the ranks after a big defeat at Wrestlemania to the tag champs. Blassie has refocused his team and this is the second week on WC that The Foreign Legon are victorious (This week against a lot sterner competition). Monsoon also puts over the experience of The Leigon….but at the same time not condonig their actions The US Express should certainly not take this team for granted if a rematch is to be signed. As for Atlas and Welles – this is a second straight defeat, as they lost to Orndorff and Orton.

Interview with Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart and Jimmy Hart in the back. They are questioned by Mene Gene about the contract status of Bret Hart. Jimmy says that he has been trying to phone Bret all week and that he hasn’t been returning his calls – Jimmy says that he finds that as an insult and says bad things happen to those that insult him – this brings King Kong Bundy into the interview. The promo fades with a close up of Bundy’s face looking threatening.

Big John Studd (w/ Bobby Heenan) pinned Ivan Putski at (5.12) Putski actually knocked Studd off his feet with a shoulder tackle, which got a nice pop from the crowd. However he was unable to beat Studd who finished him off with sidewalk slam.

Promo hyping Prime Times main event between Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake.

Squash city as Don Muraco (w/Mr Fuji) submission over Rick McGraw with a full nelson. (2.34) Muraco gets on the mic after the match and demands sterner competion other then “punks” like McGraw.

Pipers Pit was the next segment as he interviewed the Intercontinental Champion Greg Valentine. Piper said he was upset that he interfered in his match with Tito Santana, but understood why he did what he did as Santana is a low life and deserves what is coming to him. Valentine said that this rivalry with Santana will end once and for all, soon enough. He also adds that Santana is a gluton for punishments as he already took his title last year and since has yet to take it back.

Next was George “The Animal” Steele submission over Tony Garea with the flying hammerlock at (3.55). Quite unbelievable that Garea used to be a multiple tag team champion, these days he is only used to get other wrestlers over. Steele has not been on TV much this year, mostly sticking to the house shows, but even then taking a lighter schedule than he did in the past.

Interview with The Sammartino’s (Bruno and David). They vow to break Orton’s other arm in their match on Prime Time. We then are take to a graphic that hypes the tag team match between The Sammartinos (father and son Bruno and David) against “Cowboy” Bob Orton and “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff.

Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka pinned Adrian Adonis at (10.43) Snuka pinned Adonis after a Superfly Splash. This weeks main event. Throughout the match Ventura puts Adonis over a togh son of a bitch and how he used to tag team with him back in the day. Monsoon puts fuel to the rumours that apparently Adonis is to fly solo, as his partner and co holder of the tag team championship for 9 months could well have left the federation.

The show closed with a promo from Brutus Beefcake (w/Johnny Valliant). Will he end Hulk Hogan’s title reign on Prime Time.

WWF Announcement

The WWF would like to announce that the following wrestlers contracts have not been resigned. We wish the following all the best.

• The Brisco Brothers – Jack has decided to retire although Jerry Brisco has been offered a position with the office staff with the WWF Headquaters.

The WWF since the turn of the year has not pursued in pushing the team, and with tag team division to get a face lift in the near future (which in a way has started with the emergance of the team of Brits Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid) it was just felt from both parties that a parting of ways was best for all. Although the WWF is loosing a talented team, it wants to put a strong push for the tag division this year - now they have more exposure on TV. It is strongly rumoured that Bret Hart could well be teaming with Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart real soon. Two wrestlers that have benefited greatly from the extra publicity the WWF have bought them.

• Dick Murdoch – Has also decided not to resign and leaves the company with immediate affect. It should be noted that this does not affect the contract status of his former tag partner Adrian Adonis. Murdoch's departure is a hard pill to swallow as unlike The Briscoes who were being depushed, there were still big plans for the Adonis / Murdoch team. It is now expected that Murdoch will sign with the NWA.

It goes without saying we are sad to be losing three top athletes, but we should also stress that the WWF is looking forward to several newcomers – and returning old faces over the coming months. It is an exciting time to be a WWF fan.

Prime Time Wrestling - 16/4/85

@ Toronto, Ontario - Maple Leaf Gardens

The commentary team of Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson welcome us to procedings and begin shilling the big main event tht is to take place tonight, between World Heaveyweight Champion Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake. Patterson thinks that Beefcake has a real chance of causing the upset tonight and being crowned the new World Champion.

We head to ringside as Howard Finkel introduces our first match.

This one is a grudge match. The Sammartinos (Bruno and David) V "Mr Wonderful" Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy Bob Orton” . The heels to go over with the cast of doom to David’s head when the ref is trying to keep Bruno from entering the ring. Orton covers for the pin. After the match Orndorff gets on the mic and challenge the tag team champions to a match – right here next week on Prime Time. (12.39)

The Junkyard Dog music video promo plays.

King Kong Bundy (accompanied by Jimmy Hart) defeated Tony Garea in under a minute.Pinning him for 5 after the Avalanche. This man looks unstoppable. (0.43)

After the match Bret Hart comes out and procedes to put over what an agonising few months it’s been for him as he has been toiling with Jimmy Hart’s offer. He feels that he is still in the early stages of what he believes will be a long illustrious carrear and still has a lot to learn as his defeats to Valentine and Patera proved. Therefore he will give Jimmy Hart a chance as his manager. Hart shakes hands with his new allies of Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart and King Kong Bundy. Jimmy says he is over the moon and will get a match booked for Wrestling Challenge for his new team. Jimmy was so confident that Bret would accept that he already has a name for them. He then introduces the crowd to The Hart Foundation. McMahon says what a shame it is that Bret Hart has decided to take the annoying Jimmy Hart on as his new manager. Patterson though thinks that Hart and Neidhart could well turn out to be a devastating combination in the tag ranks. Vince has to agree with this, but also adds that the tag team ranks just got themselves some tough competition.

Another squash is next as Blackjack Mulligan pinned Frank Marconi after a stiff Lariat. (3.21)

Interview with Brutus Beefcake and Johnny Valliant – Beefcake says that the wrong that happened last month will finally become a right as he will reign supreme over Hulk Hogan and become the new WWF Heavyweight Champion.

Tito Santana and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat pinned The Moondogs (Rex and Spot) Intercontinental Champion Greg Valentine came down to the ring at about the 2 minute mark and started to brawl with Tito Santana. This brawl continued to the back – leaving newcomer Steamboat to get beat on by The Moondogs for sometime. The Moondogs looked to have had the match won with a double spinebuster however Steamboat countered the move into a double DDT – Steamboat hooks Rex’s leg for the three count. Steamboat pretty much beat two men. (4.32) Steamboat continues his fast rise in the WWF, teaming with Santana doesn’t do him any harm either.

Tag Team Champions The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) along with Captain Lou Albano are standing by with Lord Alfred Hayes. They accept “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff’s and “Cowboy” Bob Orton’s challenge for next week.

In the main event WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan defeated Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant). Hogan pins Brutus cleanly this time after the big boot to the face and a Leg Drop. (14.33) Standard Hogan match here, as Beefcake copes less well then he did in the first meeting between the two men. Hogan celebrates with the fans. McMahon and Patterson reminds us that on Wrestling Challenge we will see the debut of The Hart Foundation. Also in the main event Ivan Putski will take on Ken Patera.

Wrestling Challenge – 20/04/85

@ Montevale, NJ – Fieldhouse

Commentators – Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

Before the commentary team can go over tonights matches we are interrupted by Jimmy Hart who is in the ring.

Jimmy Hart does his own introduction to a team that is going to change the face of tag team wrestling – they have the combined technical excellance of Bret Hart and the raw power of Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart – they are - The Hart Foundation. Gorilla Monsoon again questions Bret’s judgement of signing a deal with the devil. Jimmy Hart then hands the microphone to Mel Phillips (the ring announcer) who then introduces their opponents – already in the ring.

The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (w/ Jimmy Hart) defeated SD Jones & Mario Mancini when Bret pinned Mancini following the Hart Attack. (2.37) The commentators are impressed with the team’s cohesiveness after just one match. A great debut by this tag team.

We see a clip from the finish of the Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake match from Prime Time last week.

Next match Hillbilly Jim pinned The Spoiler with a Leg Drop at (4.12) Jim’s first match back on TV since his defeat at Wrestlemania to Brutus Beefcake.

Up next is another new tag team in the WWF who have been impressive since their arrival Davey Boy Smith & The Dynamite Kid defeated Rene Goulet & Johnny Rodz when Dynamite pinned Goulet with a diving headbutt (4.32) This is the third time that Goulet has teamed up with a different partner to take on the new team from Britain – and still he fails to beat them – in fact he has taken the pinfall each time. Goulet throws a temper tantrum in the ring after the latest defeat as the face team celebrates up the aisle with the fans.

Promo music video of WWF Champion Hulk Hogan is shown next.

George “The Animal” Steele submission over Swede Hanson via the flying hammerlock. A you would expect this was a bit harsh on the eyes, unfortunately it was given way too much match time. (4.43)

Interview with Mene Gene Okerlund and The Tag Tam Champions The US Express (with Captain Lou Albano). Barry Windham says that Bob Orton should be suspended for his continuous use of his cast. Mike Rotundo vows not to loose the titles against Orndorff and Orton on Prime Time Wrestling.

Adrian Adonis pinned Chief Jay Strongbow after a vicious looking DDT (6.32) We haven’t seen Strongbow in the ring for what seems to be an age. In fact it was way back in January that we saw the former multiple tag team champion. Adonis goes over here as Ventura really puts him over on commentary as one of the toughest bastards in the WWF today.

Quick promo from Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. He quickly runs down Tito Santana and informs him that he will NEVER be a two time Champion.

The third tag match of the show was next as Tony Atlas and George Welles pinned Terry Gibbs and Gino Carabello when Welles pinned Gibbs following a shoulder tackle (4.32) Monsoon puts over all the victorious teams we have seen in action tonight – however Ventura says they don’t hold a torch to The Hart Foundation, who Ventura says are his new favourite tag team.

A promo is shown before the shows main event pimping this weeks Prime Time as Tag Team Champions The US Express will meet the team of ‘Mr Wonderful’ Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton also in action will be The Junkyard Dog and Don Muraco. Be sure to tune in.

This weeks main event saw Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan) pin Ivan Putski after a belly to back suplex. The show ends with Bobby Heenan holding Ken Patera’s hand in the air. (7.34) It would appear that after a dreadful start to 1985 that Patera is gaining some momentum again – this being his second victory on the trot, against decent opposition to boot.

Prime Time Wrestling – 23/04/85

@ Philadelphia, PA – Spectrum

Your weekly commentators are Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson.

The commentators welcome us to the show as we go straight to ringside for our opening match of the night.

Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant) submission over Mr Wrestling II with The Sleeper Hold (6.12) Beefcake puts behind him the agony of being defeated by Hogan last weeek. He does an insert promo during the match as he admits the best man won last week…..however no matter what any one does to try and stop it Brutus Beefcake will be wearing gold soon.

Promo in the back with the challengers to the tag team titles – Paul ‘Mr Wonderful’ Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton are with Lord Alfred Hayes as they say they have fought for the right to be the number won contenders for the tag team titles and they have achieved all this with one of their team being seriously injured.

Don Muraco (with Mr Fuji) pinned Steve Lombardi following the Tombstone Piledriver (2.21) Lombardi never stood a chance as Muraco mowed through him. Muraco gets on the mic afterwards and says he is tired of fighting talentless nobodies. Muraco wants some real competiion.

The Junkyard Dog promo video is aired.

This leads us to Junkyard action….The Junkyard Dog pinned Adrian Adonis after the headbutt (12.11) Junkyard Dog is possibly the third most over face at this time – behind Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant. This was a slobberknocker between two mid card talent. Adonis really has been left in limbo since Dick Murdoch’s decision to leave the federation – there are murmers back stage that once Jesse Ventura recovers from his injuries, that Ventura and Adonis could well form a version of the East West Connection.

Interview with Jimmy Hart and his group of clients – King Kong Bundy and The Hart Foundation. Jimmy says be sure to tune into Wrestling Challenge next week as these three men will all be in action

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat pinned Moondog Spot (with Moondog Rex) after a crossbody from the top rope. (4.19) We see a clip from last week which showed the ending of the Santana/Steamboat….Moondogs match, where Steamboat pretty much defeated both Dogs on his own, as Santana was taken out by Intercontinental Champion Greg "The Hammer Valentine. Before the match Rex is sent to the back from the referee for not having a manager’s license. Streamboat remains undeafeated in the federation.

The Main Event saw Paul ‘Mr Wonderful’ Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton pin Tag Team Champions The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) (with Captain Lou Albano) when Rotundo was nailed by Orton’s cast when the referees back was turned. Orndorff scores the pinfall victory and the tag team titles (18.04) NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!!! This was a wonderful match that was given plenty of screen time. The show goes off the air as the commentators are shocked that we have new tag team champions.

Wrestling Challenge – 27/4/85

@ Landover, MD - Capital Center

Commentators Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

This weeks show kicked off with The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (with Jimmy Hart) pinned Barry O and Nick DeCarlo after the Hart Attack. Neidhart scored the pinfall on DeCarlo after The Hart Attack. (3.23) Week 2 of Hart Foundation teaming and it is week 2 where they have amazed at how quickly they have gelled so well together.

Clips are shown of “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton winning the tag team titles from The US Express. We then go to a pre recorded message from the champs, who outline their intentions of being the longest reigning champions in the WWF history.

Next was a closely fought brawl. Blackjack Mulligan pinned Alexis Smirnoff after a lariat. (5.21) This certainly wasn’t pretty.

As the commentators were telling us about our main event for the night – which will see Intercontinental Champion Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine and Don Muraco going up against Tito Santana and Junkyard Dog, green smoke started to pore from the wrestlers entrance’s way. After a while Bobby Hennan walked out with a 6’2 man next to him. The man had a mohawk and his face was painted green. The commentators wonder who this man is. Bobby Heenan introduces us to “The Missing Link”.

The Missing Link (with Bobby Heenan) pinned SD Jones after a headbutt from the top of the rope. (1.55)

Interview in the back with Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. He says that Tito Santana is not even in his league.

Gene Okerlund tries to get an interview with Bobby Heenan and his new protégé The Missing Link. However Heenan brushes him off as he says he has another match up coming next he has to get ready for. The Missing Link growls at Okerlund , who in turn scurries off.

Big John Studd and Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan) pinned Paul Roma and Brian Mackney when Patera pinned Mackney after a belly to back suplex. (3.27)

King Kong Bundy (with Jimmy Hart) pinned Swede Hanson after an avalanche (1.31). Bundy makes the referee count to 5 instead of the standard 3.

Next week on Wrestling Challenge will see Junkyard Dog take on Ken Patera in one on one action.

In the main event Tito Santana & The Junkyard Dog defeated WWF Intercontinental Champion Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine & Don Muraco (with Mr Fuji) when Santana pinned Valentine after a sunset flip and a pinning combo (19.41) A great tag team match which show case four of the top superstars in the federation. Santana gets the big pinfall over the Intercontinental Champion. Santana will surely be in a position to challenger the champion now for a title match.

Prime Time Wrestling – 30/04/85

@ Pittsburgh, PA - Civic Arena

Commentators Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson welcome us to this weeks show. Vince promises us that we will see clips from a recent handicapped encounter between Big John Studd and Bobby Heenan against Andre The Giant. .This match is taking place in Japan as many WWF stars have been sent over there to increase awareness of the federation and a mini tour.

We head to ringside where George Welles is already in the ring.

Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant) submission over George Welles following the sleeperhold. (5.21) Beefcake is getting victories back under his belt after his failure to dispatch the WWF title from Hulk Hogan. Valliant joined the commentary team and emphasised that by the end of the year he promised his client Beefcake would be wearing gold around his waiste. He also laid claim to wanting to get involved managing within the tag team division.

Interview in the back (conducted by Lord Alfred Hayes) with The US Express – (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) with their manager Captain Lou Albano. Rotundo says that what happened last week was a catastrophe and can’t believe that the result from last weeks match with “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton has been allowed to stand. Windham adds that it doesn’t matter as they are going to work back up the tag team ladder and regain their tag team titles for a second time. Albano finishes that he feels sorry for The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff tonight as they will feel his team’s frustrations.

Throw away match next as the masked The Spoiler pinned Rick McGraw following an under hook suplex. Very close match between these two. The commentators say that both men could do with a victory as they both have not won a match this year. It’s The Spoiler that gets the duke in the battle of the jobbers to the stars. (4.31)

The return of The Roundup with Mean Gene Okerlund as he talks about the WWF’s current Japan tour. Superstars such as WWF Champion Hulk Hogan, Hillbilly Jim, George “The Animal” Steele, Blackjack Mulligan, Buddy Rose, Chief Jay Strongbow and Rowdy Roddy Piper have been competing in matches with each other and some of the top Japanese wrestlers.

Pat Patterssn pimps next weeks show as Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat meets Brutus Beefcake one on one in which Vince sells as a battle of two future champions. And The Sammartino’s will meet the team we have just seen The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff.

The last match of the night saw Ivan Putski submission over Matt Borne with a bearhug. (4.32) Before the match, Jesse “The Body” Ventura makes a surprise appearance as a guest commentator, Ventura informs us that he is all healed up from his injury and will be making a return to the squared circle sonner, rather than later. During the match Jesse Ventura takes shots at Putski saying he used to be a potato herder back in Poland, and what a crap hole Poland is.

The show finishes in a change from the norm, not with a feature match but with The Piper’s Pit. This weeks guest was The Junkyard Dog.

Things turned ugly between the two during this segment as Piper went out of his way to demean and insult the Junkyard Dog, calling him a savage and that it is a disgrace that “his kind” is a role model to children all over the world. Dog takes offence to this remark and a brawl begins between the two as officials run out to pull the two men apart.

WWF News

Pedro Morales is expected to return to the Federation in an active capacity within the next month or so. Morales is to be newley dubbed as “Triple Crown” Pedro Morales, in relation to his amazing achievement of holding not only the World Title, but also the Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships.

Andre The Giant has been complaining of a slight injury in his right knee and it has been decided after he finishes working the Japan tour he will be given some time off of the road. Andre will be expected back in the summer and still remains a huge part of the WWF.

Expect more new superstars over the coming months. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Davey Boy Smith, The Dynamite Kid and The Missing Link are only the tip of the iceburg and more world class wrestlers will be expected to sign up with the federation real soon. Expect tough competition for all three titles.(The World, Intercontinental and Tag Team)

Speaking of Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat an idea has been mooted for him to start tag teaming with “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. This will add yet even more depth to what is fast becoming an extraordinary division.

Wrestling Challenge – 04/05/85

@ Salisbury, MD

Commentators are Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

The show starts off with Rene Goulet of all people in the middle of the ring. The commentators are also surprised at this unscheduled appearance from the Canadian superstar. Goulet gets on the mic and said that he has faced Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid on several occasions since their entrance to the WWF and have yet to beat them. He says that will finish tonight as he and his new hand picked partner will pin those dumb “british bulldogs” once and for all. This is the first time that Smith and Dynamite have been called The British Bulldogs.

The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid) pinned Rene Goulet and Matt Borne after Smith delivered a running powerslam to Goulet to finish the match at (5.42) Not a straight up squash as Goulet and Borne got a bit of offence. Goulet is defeated yet again by these two british wrestlers. Smith and Dynamite celebrate with the crowd as Goulet and Borne argue after the latest defeat.

We see clips of the hostile situation between Rowdy Roddy Piper and The Junkyard Dog on the Piper’s Pit segment as a swarm of officials separated the two men.

The old warhorse Swede Hanson pinned AJ Petruzzi (3.32). A chance for two wrestlers who don’t get much of a chance to win a match. The crowd didn’t appreciate this one. Doubt either will climb out of jobber status any time soon. The second show in a row to have jobbers square off against each other. You can see Swede is slowing down considerably in the ring and there has been talk in the back that he may be retiring from the ring soon.

We see clips of Andre The Giant from the Japan tour as the whole country have apparently contracted “Andre Mania” as Mene Gene puts it. We see very quick clips of Hillbilly Jim pinning George “The Animal” Steele and Hulk Hogan bodyslamming Big John Studd.

Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton pinned George Welles and Tony Atlas. Orndorff finishes off Welles with the piledriver. (7.34) The champions first title defense is a success as they have a great, competitive match with the challengers. Also nice to see the champions able to defeat a team cleanly without having to resort to Orton’s cast.

A Promo airs advertising next weeks Wrestling Challenge. Tune in as WWF Champion Hulk Hogan will take on Don Muraco in one on one action.

Don Muraco (with Mr Fuji) pinned Ronnie Dee after a tombstone piledriver. The commentators say that come next week the man standing victorious now in the ring could well be the next World Heavyweight Champion. (2.02). Muraco gets on the microphone after the match and says it is about time that he started to get title shots instead of facing jokes like this loser in the ring. Mr Fuji then takes the microphone and states next week his client will be the new champion of The World.

Before the main event of the show Lord Alfred Hayes interviewed Rowdy Roddy Piper. Piper snatches the mic from Hayes and tells him to beat it as no one is privileged enough to interview Rowdy Piper apart from Rowdy Piper. He warns The Junkyard Dog that he made the biggest mistake of his whole worthless life by laying his hands on him on his talk show. Piper tells Junkyard to watch his back.

The Main Event was a to and fro affair which resulted in the following.

The Junkyard Dog pinned Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan) following a powerslam. (14.32) At the end of the match Rowdy Roddy Piper comes out and challenges him to a match next week. Junkyard accepts.

Show ends.

Prime Time Wrestling – 07/05/85

@ San Diego, CA

Commentators for the show are Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson.

Competitive tag team action to kick things off as the commentators put over the tag division saying it is at the its most aggressive and cut throat for title shots as it has ever been.

The Foreign Leigon (The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff) (with “Classie” Freddie Blassie) submission over The Sammartino’s (Bruno and David) when David submitted to the camel clutch when applied by The Iron Shiek. (9.12) It would seem fair to say that WWF officials have scaled back on their plans to push David Sammartino as a single’s star, many of them feel that he is nowhere near ready for the push that was first envisioned for him at the start of the year. The crowd really only respond to his father.

As it is a stacked show this week we go straight to the ring again after the commercial break as we see Mr Wrestling II pin Les Thornton after an underhook suplex. (4.03) Yet another chance on TV for the underappreciated to get a chance to one up over the other. This time Mr Wrestling II gets himself a televised victory.

Interview before the next match with Big John Studd and Ken Patera. Bobby Heenan does most of the talking as he says these two men next to him are also on the hunt for tag team gold.

Big John Studd and Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan) pinned Paul Roma and Jose Luis Rivera. Patera finishes off Rivera with a belly to back suplex. No offence what so ever for the jobbers as Studd and Patera send a message to the rest of the division (2.17)

LIVE on Wrestling Challenge on the 18th of May a Lumberjack match has been signed between Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Tito Santana.

Don Muraco (with Mr Fuji) submission over Tony Atlas with the full nelson. The commentators say that Hulk Hogan better not underestimate Muraco on Prime Time Wrestling as he has proved in his last two matches that he is a threat with his devasting tombstone pile driver and his full nelson. Murco is able to finish off his opponents in a variety of different ways. (7.43)

Rene Goulet again comes to the ring and demands one of the British Bulldogs. This leads to The Dynamite Kid (of The British Bulldogs) pinned Rene Goulet after a diving headbut from the top rope. (3.12) The commentators say that is his quickest defeat yet at the hands of The Bulldogs. Goulet is taken to the woodshed by Dynamite.

Promo for Hogan / Muraco on Prime Time Wrestling. Muraco is put over strong as a two time former Intercontinental Champion.

The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (With Jimmy Hart) pinned Jim Powers and Salvatore Bellomo after the Hart Attack to Powers. (3.21) Another impressive outing by the Hart’s as they continue to beat enhancement tag teams, Patterson says that The Harts should be being tested more by their manager by being signed up to face tougher opposition than they have so far.

Main Event time as Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat pinned Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant) after a roll up. Beefcake like the time he thought he had won the WWF title from Hogan cheated his way to what he thought was victory. After delivering a high knee he made the three count as Valliant held Steamboat’s leg. As the ref made the three count he saw Valliant’s interference and told the time keeper to not ring the bell. As Beefcake argued with the ref, Steamboat sneaked behind and got the pinfall. Steamboat celebrates as show goes off air. Big win for Steamboat. (5.51) An OK match between these two men, sure it could have been even better with a bit more match time. Steamboat continues his rise up the upper echelons of the Federation.

Wrestling Challenge – 11/05/85

@ Tulsa, OK - Expo Square Pavilion

Commentators Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

The commentators welcome us to the show and say tonight we will see the World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan go one on one with Don Muraco, who will have the devious Mr Fuji in his corner.

This weeks show kicks off with tag team action as the World Tag Team Champions make their way down the aisle. This will be a non-title affair.

WWF Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton pinned Mr Wrestling II and Blackjack Mulligan. Orton pinned Mr Wrestling after a double suplex, administered by both the heels, due to Oton’s bad arm. (7.31) A new tag team combination this week with former champ Mulligan and Mr Wrestling II, as they are a new pair, this is why we are told they are not receiving a title shot. Yet again the champs get a clean victory. During the match The US Express cut an insert promo proclaiming that Orndorff and Orton’s time as champions will be short.

Interview in the back conducted by Mene Gene Okerlund. Th Junkyard Dog says he will rip Rowdy Roddy Piper apart later tonight. No one disrespects “The Dog”.

The Missing Link (with Bobby Heenan) pinned Aldo Marino after a big boot to the face. (2.32) The Missing Link’s second match and second victory.

Next week on Wrestling Challenge there will be a lumberjack match for the Intercontinental Championship as Greg “The Hammer “Valentine meets Tito Santana – one on one. We see clips of previous matches between the two, including the match that Valentine won the title from Santana.

The Junkyard Dog D/Q over Rowdy Roddy Piper . This was not pretty as it was more of a brawl than a straight up wrestling match. Junkyard Dog looked like he was going to finish Piper off, however Piper kicked The Dog with a blatant low blow right in front of the ref’s eyes. The referee has no choice but to call for the bell. Piper stays to soak up the boos from the crowd. (13.41)

Before his next match Ivan Putski (being interviewed backstage by Lord Alfred Hayes) says he has heard the remarks that Jesse “The Body” Ventura has made about him and his country. Ivan tells Ventura to stop hiding behind his commentary position and fight him like a man next week on Wrestling Challenge. Gorilla Monsoon baits Ventura to accept the challenge for the duration of the rest of the broadcast. Ventura leaves the commentary booth and disappears backstage.

Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant) submission over Ivan Putski when he applied the sleeperhold. Beefcake back to winning ways after losing to Ricky Steamboat on Prime Time Wrestling. Putski is distracted when Jesse Ventura wanders down the aisle with what appears to be a dustbin. Whilst this happens Brutus snaps on the sleeper hold. Brutus steals the victory. Ventura laughs and then goes to the back and brings with him a Polish Flag. He throws the flag in the bin and proceeds to set light to it. Putski is furious and chases after Ventura to the back. We learn from Gorilla that Ivan is so proud of his heritage that he has travelled with his Polish flag all over the world for years, he pours scorn of his commentary partner’s actions. (7.16)

Gorilla will fly solo for the rest of the broadcast as Ventura is still ducking Ivan Putski backstage.

This weeks main event sees Don Muraco (with Mr Fuji) count out over WWF Champion Hulk Hogan . Just as Hogan started to “hulk up” and looked as if he was going to finish the match, Mr Fuji hooked the leg of Hogan with his cane.

Hogan gives chase to Fuji outside the ring as Muraco gets back to his feet and distracts the referee. This allows Fuji to hit Hogan into the chest twice with the cane which winds Hogan. The referee counts to ten as the champ can not get back in the ring. Although Muraco has won the match he does not get the title as he won via a count out. (12.43)

Prime Time Wrestling – 14/05/85

@ Poughkeepsie, NY - Mid-Hudson Civic Center

Commentators Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson.

The commentators go over the card for tonight and say that tonight’s main attraction will be a 20 man $10,000 over the top rope battle royal. Some of the entrants are named as Hillbilly Jim, The Hart Foundation, the return of B. Brian Blair, what a baptism of fire it will be for him, George The Animal Steele, Ken Patera among others. You don’t wanna miss that one.

We see clips of Don Muraco getting the countout victory on Wrestling Challenge over World Champion Hulk Hogan.

The first match of the night sees “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat defeat The Foreign Leigon (The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff) (with “Classie” Freddie Blassie) by count out. Snuka and Steamboat pretty much dominate the match. Blassie is furious and rounds up his team and tells them to leave the ring and come to the back with him. The crowd boos as the referee counts the heel team out. (9.12) A cheap victory for the faces….but a victory nethertheless. Snuka and Steamboat really gelled well and the crowd were really into them. Officials are keen to keep the team together.

Interview in the back (conducted by Lord Alfred Hayes). In what is becoming a regular occurrence. Rene Goulet said he has another partner that will help him finally defeat The British Bulldogs. Hayes asks who it is but Goulet said it is a surprise and that his partner is the best around.

Next match sees Moondog Spot (with Moondog Rex) pinned Nick DeCarlo (3.43) The commentators say that we will see Rex in the Battle Royal later this evening. People forget that The Moondogs are former tag team champions. You would never have guessed that from this years performances as they have been turned into jobbers. This is a chance for one of them at least to get a win. Your weekly jobber v jobber match.

Another promo for Lumberjack Match for the Intercontinental Championship as Greg “The Hammer” Valentine meets Tito Santana – one on one on the next addition of Wrestling Challenge.

Interview in the back with Jimmy Hart and The Hart Foundation. Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart says that him and Bret Hart will work together in the battle royal tonight and win the thing and split the money 50-50.

Big John Studd (with Bobby Heenan) submission over David Sammartino (with Bruno Sammartino) after delivering the reverse beer hug. (8.21) It would appear that Bruno is not only David’s tag team partner but also his manager, as officials try and garner some heat back onto Dvid….who seems to have lost a huge amount of heat, post Wrestlemania.

Lord Alfred Hayes tries to interview George “The Animal” Steele about his thoughts on 20 man Battle Royal tonight. Steele doesn’t talk but tries to take a bite out of Hayes microphone.

The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid) pinned Rene Goulet and Charlie Fulton .(2.25) Davey Boy finishes off Goulet in quick fashion after delivering the running powerslam. The commentators put over that The Bulldogs are just defeating Goulet again and again. This match was the quickest match between Goulet and any of the Bulldogs. Wow Charlie Fulton was apparently Goulet’s big surprise. I think this mini feud with Goulet has now come to an end.

Another Interview hyping the Battle Royal. This time with Hillbilly Jim. Jim puts over the recent Japanise tour that he was on and how tonight he is set to win $10,000 which he plans to spend on some new overalls.

George Welles pinned The Spoiler (5.14) A rare singles victory for Welles these days. Picks up a victory over fellow low midcarder. Commentators say that these type of matches are important as it allows these wrestlers to climb up the ladder and get closer to title shots.

One more interview before the Battle Royal, this time with Ken Patera. Patera says he will use this opportunity to win the match and challenge for honours.

The Battle Royal closed this weeks show with the following participants.

1. B. Brian Blair, 2 and 3. The Hart Foundation, 4. Tony Atlas, 5. SD Jones, 6.Ken Patera, 7. Johnny Rodz, 8. Moondog Rex, 9. Ivan Putski, 10. George “The Animal” Steele, 11. Chief Jay Strongbow, 12. Alexis Smirnoff, 13. Mr X, 14. Salvatore Bellomo, 15.Adrian Adonis, 16. Hillbilly Jim, 17.Tony Garea, 18.Jim Powers, 19.Terry Gibbs and 20.Steve Lombardi. (As you can see the low mid card is well represented)

Order of Elimination –

1. Terry Gibbs by Ken Patera.

2. In a shock Tony Atlas is out next at the hands of The Hart Foundation.

3. SD Jones also eliminated by The Hart Foundation. Commentators are impressed with their team work so far.

4. Steve Lombardi is gone at the hands of Hillbilly Jim.

5. Bye Bye Salvatore Bellomo as Adrian Adonis disposes.

6. As Adrian Adonis celebrates Ivan Putski chucks him out (Ventura continues his bad mouthing of Putski during the battle royal and is outraged that Putski has thrown out a good friend of his)

7. Mr X also eliminated by Putski.

8. Ivan Putski though is soon gone at the hands of Moondog Rex. Ventura enjoyed that one. He baits Putski. Putski retaliates as referees swarm to pull Putski and Ventura apart.

9. The new guy B. Brian Blair eliminates Alexis Smirnoff.

10. Blair gets a head of steam and Johnny Rodz is also eliminated.

11. Moondog Rex is gone at the hands of Hillbilly Jim.

12. The Hart Foundation work together again to eliminate Chief Jay Strongbow.

13. Jim Powers and Tony Garea go over but their feet do not touch the floor. They battle on the apron until Ken Patera clotheslines both out.

14. See Above.

15. But it is goodbye Ken Patera as Brian Blair dropkicks him over and out.

16. Hillbilly Jim backdrops out George “The Animal” Steele.

17. The Hart Foundation hit a Hart Attack on B. Brain Blair which lays him out. They then proceed to eliminate Hillbilly Jim.

18. The Hart Foundation raise their hands in victory and look at the fallen Blair on the canvas they look at each other with a evil look in their eyes and start laying the boots to Blair. They take Blair to the woodshed by suplexing him numerous times and Neidhart hiting some hard looking powerslams. Bret Hart goes under the ropes and snatches the timekeeper bell from outside the ring. He re-enters the ring as Neidhart holds Blair as Bret runs towards him with the bell. Somehow Blair breaks free as Hart hits Neidhart right between the eyes with the bell. As Jim Neidhart was near the ropes he toppled over them. Jim Neidhart is eliminated.

19. Bret Hart is furious. He runs at Blair who the precedes to backdrop Hart out of the ring to the floor. Bret Hart is eliminated.

20. The Sole Survivor and winner of the $10,000 Battle Royal is B. Brian Blair, who collapses to his knees due to exhaustion. The crowd eat it up and go wild.

WHAT A COMEBACK!! (14.32)

Wresting Challenge – 18/05/85

@ Los Angeles, CA - Sports Arena

Commentators Gorilla Monsoon and Vince McMahon are your commentators for tonight’s show. McMahon informs us that he is standing in tonight for Ventura, who will be competing in the first match of the evening.

Tonight in the main event will be Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine against Tito Santana in a Lumberjack match. First things first though as we go to the ring for our first match of the evening.

Ivan Putski D/Q over Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura when Ventura purposely got himself disqualified by continuously laying his hands on the referee. (7.34) This match has stemmed from Ventura constantly putting down Putski on commentary and his country of Poland. Ventura was pretty much dominated for the entire match – therefore he got himself disqualified. You can see by the way that Ventura moved in the ring that he may not have heeled fully from his injury, as he moved pretty gingerly. Monsoon kept saying on commentary that he hopes Ventura gets his commupance.

Interview in the back with Mene Gene Okerlund and the challenger to the Intercontinental Championship Tito Santana. Tito vows to wear the gold for a second time. He has been waiting since last September to have the title back around his waiste, and with the super WWF fans behind him he can’t loose.

The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (with Jimmy Hart) pinned George Welles and Tony Atlas after delivering the Hart Attack on Welles. (9.45) Great to and fro tag team action here and by far The Harts biggest victory to date in the tag team division. Before the match we see The Harts coming up short in the Battle Royal on Tuesday night – being eliminated at the hands of the returning B. Brian Blair.

A Promo airs for “Saturday Night’s Main Event”. This will be a special two hour show which will air on 06/07/85. It will air in place of the normal edition of Wrestling Challenge.

Ken Patera (with Bobby Heenan) pinned Tony Garea after a belly to back suplex (4.15)

Tune into Prime Time Wrestling on Tuesday to see Rowdy Roddy Piper take on “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. McMahon brings up previous grievances that these men have had in the past – most noticalbly the infamouse “coconut” incident.

Hillbilly Jim pinned Mr X after a leg drop (3.43) Squash City.

Before the main event starts the lumberjacks come down the aisle to surround the ring. Lumberjacks include. 1.Adrian Adonis, 2.Brutus Beefcake, 3. Moondog Rex, 4.Moondog Spot, 5.George “The Animal” Steele, 6.Rene Goulet, 7. Alexis Smirnoff and 8. The Spoiler for the heels. For the faces – 1.Blackjack Mulligan, 2. Davey Boy Smith, 3. The Dynamite Kid, 4.Chief Jay Strongbow, 5.David Sammartino, 6. Mr Wrestling II, 7.SD Jones and 8.Swede Hanson.

Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine pinned Tito Santana after hooking the challengers legs after countering a sunset flip (17.54) A wonderful macth that finishes when Valentine counters a move that Santana pinned him with a few weeks back in a tag team match. The heels get in the ring afterwards and celebrate with the champion, as Santana is consoled ouside the ring

Prime Time Wrestling – 21/05/85

@ Philadelphia, PA – Spectrum

Commentators Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson welcome us to the show.

We see the closing minutes of the Intercontinental Title Lumberjack Match which saw the Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine pinning Tito Santana after countering a sunset flip.

Speaking of cowards who take the easy way out of matches (referring to their match against Jimmy Snuka and Ricky Steamboat last week) The Foreign Leigon (The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff) (with “Classie” Freddie Blassie) submission over Sal Gee and Jose Luis Rivera after Gee submitted to The Iron Shiek’s Camel Clutch. After the match the heels throw their opponents from the ring – to demonstrate their superiority. (2.38)

Interview with Rowdy Roddy Piper. He says that he will take Snuka out tonight – and that Junkyard Dog better be on his guard as he isn’t finished with him yet.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat pinned Rene Goulet after a high crossbody. (4.25) During the match the commentators spend most of the time discussing Steamboat’s partner’s match later tonight.

A clip is shown of last weeks show of B Brian Blair winning a battle royal. The final moments are shown with B Brian Blair overcoming a beating at the hands of The Hart Foundation – to win his first return match in the WWF.

B. Brian Blair pinned Steve Lombardi after a dropkick. (3.45) The response to Blair was rather lacklustre, which will disappoint officials as they would have hoped that Blair’s big return last week would have gained him some good momentum with the crowd.

Another clip shown of Greg “The Hammer” Valentine retaining the Intercontinental Championship against Tito Santana from Wrestling Challenge.

The Missing Link (with Bobby Heenan) pinned George Welles after a big boot to the face. (6.33) Lord Alfred Hayes again tries to get an interview with newcomer The Missing Link – but again is just growled at. Hayes looks petrified.

Tune into next weeks show to see the following six man tag action – The Junkyard Dog and The US Express will meet Rowdy Roddy Piper and Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton.

Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant) submission over Jim Powers after the sleeperhold. No straight up squash here as Powers actually took Beefcake to the limit to the surprise of the commentators. (4.57) The girls in the crowd certainly appreciated Powers efforts as you could hear then scream every time Powers countered a move.

"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka D/Q over Rowdy Roddy Piper in the main event. The match was thrown out when The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff came out from the back and started the beatdown on Snuka. Ricky Steamboat came out for the save. The show ends with the two teams jarring insults at one another as Piper had since hightailed it. The Foreign Leigon seem to have an issue with the way they were manhandled by Steamboat and Snuka last week. (12.11)

Wrestling Challenge – 25/05/1985

@ Atlanta, GA – Omni

Commentators Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

This weeks show kicks off with B. Brian Blair in singles action as he pins Charlie Fulton following a dropkick. Blair is on quite the run since his return to the WWF but the fans don’t seem to give a shit as Blair, apart from his amazing dropkicks, comes across as rather generic. (4.45)

Interview with the Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton. They say they will take on all comers for the titles and will not shirk a rematch with The US Express. Orton promises to pin Barry Windham in their match later tonight.

Tito Santana and Blackjack Mulligan pinned Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Adrian Adonis, when Valentine submitted to Santana's figure-4 after Santana avoided an atomic drop, grabbed Valentine's leg, and applied the hold. (15.31) .It is announced during the match that Tito Santana and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine will meet each other yet again for the Intercontinental Championship on 06/07/1985. The show will be called Saturday Night’s Main Event and will be a two hour extravaganza. This show will air instead of Wrestling Challenge for that particular week. During the match Ventura adds the fact that not only was it Santana that has been trying to gain the Intercontinental Championship this year, but also Valentine had his hands full with Mulligan at the start of the year.

Interview in the back with Mene Gene Okerlund and Tito Santana. Mene Gene says the match has been signed - in six weeks time it will be Greg “The Hammer” Valentine going one on one with Tito Santana . Tito vows to regain the championship and states that this match will be a CAGE MATCH!!!! Huge announcement.

King Kong Bundy (with Jimmy Hart) pinned Salvatore Bellomo after an Avalanche. Bundy made the referee count to 5 instead of 3. (1.45)

Next up is The Piper’s Pit. And this weeks guest’s are The Foreign Leigon (The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff )(with “Classie” Freddie Blassie). This was an opportunity for them to stir the pot with their current feud with “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. After the interview Volkoff tries to get the crowd to participate in singing with him the Russian National Anthem. This obviously didn’t go down to well.

The Moondogs (Rex and Spot) pinned Barry O and Gary Starr. After a side slam by Rex on Starr. A rare victory for The Moondogs. (3.43)

During this match it is hyped that on Prime Time Wrestling there will be a massive 10 man Tag Team Battle Royal with the winning team, guaranteed a shot at the Champions. The Moondogs are one of those teams in the match.

Interview with Lord Alfred Hayes and The US Express. They mention their involvement in the tag Battle Royal next week on Prime Time. They hope a victory will guarantee them their rematch with the current champions.

Barry Windham and Tag Team Champion “Cowboy” Bob Orton was thrown out and therefore the match was considered a double disqualification as Mike Rotundo and”Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff got involved in the match. (14.13) The shows ends with the announcers pimping the Tag Team Battle Royal on Prime Time as the four men in the ring brawl.

Prime Time Wrestling – 29/05/1985

@ Toronto, Ontario - Maple Leaf Gardens

Commentators Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson.

The show kicks off with a huge six man tag match.

The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) and The Junkyard Dog pinned Rowdy Roddy Piper and Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton. The match finished when Orton went to hit Dog with his cast but Dog ducked and so Piper got knocked out instead. Junkyard Dog gets the pinfall on Piper. (15.22) The commentators say that we will see both the champs and The US Express in the tag team battle royal later this evening.

Interview with The Hart Foundation and Jimmy Hart. They put over how well they worked together in the Battle Royal two weeks ago, they say they will be victorious in the match.

George “The Animal” Steele submission over Paul Roma with the claw to the face. (3.21)

Interview with The British Bulldogs – they say they would love to win the tag team battle royal and thanks the American fans for making them feel so welcome in the USA.

And so we go to the ring for the Tag Team Battle Royal. The winners will not only receive a guaranteed $50,000 prize but also the opportunity to face the Tag Team Champions – if of course the champions do not win the match themselves. Rules state that if one man from the team is eliminated – the whole team will be forced to the back.

The tag teams start coming to the aisle one by one. First team out is –

1.“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat – Huge pop for these two – the commentators say that they haven’t been teaming together very long however they are both excellent individual talents with Steamboat yet to taste defeat in the federation.

2.The Moondogs (Rex and Spot) Rank outsiders and former champions.

3.The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (with Jimmy Hart) Pat Patterson picks these as his winners.

4.The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid). Vince puts over the fact that these could be real outsiders – like The Hart Foundation they have yet to be defeated in the WWF.

5.Tony Atlas and George Welles. Pat gives them no chance – Vince says not to overestimate them – Atlas of course being a former Tag Champion.

6.The Sammartinos(Bruno and David) Big pop – mostly directed at Bruno. Vince says it is an honour to be watching Bruno – who very rarely wrestles these days.

7.The Foreign Leigon (The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff) (with “Classie” Freddie Blassie). Pat says their experience just might win this one.

8.Next is a surprise entrance as Mr Wrestling II and Blackjack Mulligan have entered. Vince puts them over as a wildcard and that they could prove an huge underdog.

9.The US Express………Just as The US Express are on their way to the ring they are blindsided in the aisle by the Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton. At this time the match bell is rung and all 8 teams in the ring start to go at it. Officials run from the back to separate the four men in the aisle and sends them to the back. The commentators assume that both teams have been D/Q ed (Elimination at 2.32)

First proper elimination sees George Welles dumped over by Nikolai Volkoff (Elimination Timed at 3.34) Tony Atlas and George Welles are out!

Next gone is Mr Wrestling II who is disposed of by Ricky Steamboat following a dropkick. (Elimination Timed at 6.32). Mr Wrestling II and Blackjack Mulligan are out!

Bret Hart is press slammed over the top by Davey Boy Smith. (Elimination Timed at 9.43) The Hart Foundation are out!

However Smith is promptly eliminated by Bruno Sammartino as the commentators put over that it is every team for themselves. Smith’s inexperience is highlighted here. (Elimination Timed at 9.46) The British Bulldogs are out.

“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka rids the ring of Rex from The Moondogs following a drop kick. (Elimination Timed at 10.21) The Moondogs are out!

The Iron Shiek eliminates David Sammartino with a back drop. (Elimination Timed at 14.32) The Sammartinos are out!

We are down to our last two teams. The match finishes when Snuka and Steamboat double clothesline out the former WWF Champion The Iron Shiek. (Match Time 18.21) The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff are out!

The winners are “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat who will now receive a guaranteed shot at the tag team champions

Prime Time Wrestling – 04/06/1985

@ Miami, FL - Knight Center

Commentators Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson.

Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson welcomes us to this weeks Prime Time as we are shown clips of the bad blood between Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Ivan Putski.

We then head to the ring as we get ready for Ivan Putski against Jesse “The Body” Ventura. This has steamed from Ventura constantly bad mouthing Putski and even going as far as to burn the polish flag last month.

Ivan Putski pinned Jesse “The Body” Ventura, after the Polish Hammer. (8.34) Heels never prosper is the message of the day here as Putski wins the blow off to this mini feud. It would appear that Ventura’s return to the ring full time will be shelved as Ventura has continually complained about pains caused by blood clots. Ventura is expected to commit his time more to his colour commentating.

Interview in the back conducted by Mene Gene Okerlund with Brutus Beefcake and Johnny Valliant. These two men will be meeting The Sammartino’s in tag action later. Brutus says that he never losses two matches in a row and feels sorry for “The Chump” David and his washed up father Bruno, as Beefcafe is going to take all his frustrations out on them.

The Missing Link (with Bobby Heenan) pinned SD Jones following a big boot to the face. (4.35)

Promo for Saturday Night’s Main Event. Make sure you don’t miss the Cage Match for the Intercontinental Championship between Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and challenger Tito Santana. Watch it on 06/07/85.

Next up sees The Sammartino’s (Bruno and David) count out over Brutus Beefcake and Johnny Valliant. Brutus rolled out of the ring after The Sammartino’s had gained the upper hand. Brutus walks over to the timekeeper and demands he rings the bell as he and his manager are through with wasting their time wrestling amateurs and has-beens. The heels walk to the back as the ref counts them out, as the commentators say that Beefcake is a sore looser and if things do not go his way he throws a tantrum. (6.23)

Interview with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. They say that although they haven’t been teaming very long they have every faith in themselves that they will be crowned the new Tag Team Champions at the next Wrestling Challenge.

Mid card match next as Blackjack Mulligan pinned Alexis Smirnoff after a stiff looking lariat. (4.44)

Before the main event we are shown a new video which showcases the superstars of the World Wrestling Federation – WWF Champion Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, The Junkyard Dog, Tito Santana, The US Express, Rowdy Roddy Piper, King Kong Bundy and Big John Studd are the wrestlers featured.

The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) (with Captain Lou Albano) pinned Intercontinental Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Adrian Adnois. At about the eight minute mark Tito Santana comes out to watch the match at ringside as the commentators say that the challenger is playing mind games with the Intercontinental Champion. Valentine goes after Santana at about the ten minute mark as the two brawl in the aisle and to the back – leaving former tag champion Adonis on his own with The US Express. Windham finished off Adonis with the bulldog. (12.34) The show ends with Monsoon putting over that the two victors in the ring are still very much top contenders to the retaining tag team gold.

Wrestling Challenge – 08/06/85

@ Landover, MD - Capital Centre

The show starts with clips from a few weeks back where Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka were victorious in the tag team battle royal which has earned them the right tonight to go one on one with the Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton.

Commentators for the show – Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura. Gorilla takes great pleasure in teasing Ventura over his recent defeat at the hands of Ivan Putski.

First match of the night is a big one as Rowdy Roddy Piper and The Junkyard Dog go one on one. Another clip is shown of where this match steamed from (30/04/85 addition of Prime Time). We hear the moment Piper said derogatory things about Dog on an addition of Pipers Pit and also the first match between the two which ended up with Piper getting disqualified for low blowing Junkyard infront of the referee.

Rowdy Roddy Piper and The Junkyard Dog ended in a Double Disqualification as the match got completely out of hand with both wrestlers laying their hands on the official, as they were so eager to get their hands on one another. (13.11) This is by no means over.

Another Clip is shown of Rick “Quickdraw” McGraw. We see him picking up the shock victory over Moondog Spot. McGraw will be in action next. Can winning ways continue…Find out after the break……

Rick “Quickdraw” McGraw pinned Les Thornton after a fisherman’s suplex. (4.44). McGraw does it again. Monsoon says that McGraw is competing in matches against other athletes that are currently in his league and not over estimating himself. Monsoon adds that young Rick could be a force to be reckoned with here in the federation if he continues to improve.

A quick promo in the back from WWF World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan. Conducted by Mene Gene Okerlund he says that on Prime Time Wrestling you will be going one on one with one half of the tag team champions “Cowboy” Bob Orton. Hogan responds by saying that Orton will feel The Hulkster’s twenty four inch pythons run wild over his body. Okerlund also adds that he has been hearing rumours in the back from the locker room that he has been avoiding going one on one in a rematch with Don Muraco. (Muraco is due a rematch due to his count out victory over Hogan on the 11/05/85) Hogan shoots this down as bull crud and promises that when Orton is out of the way Muraco can have his rematch.

Tony Atlas is already in the ring as we head to our next match.

Big John Studd (with Bobby Heenan) pinned Tony Atlas after a body splash. (5.11)

Interview conducted by Lord Alfred Hayes with Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant). Hayes says that Beefcake has been on a bit of a sore run at present with a loss against Junkyard Dog and also a countout loss to David……..Beefcake cuts Hayes off and demands Hayes not to even mention that no good son of a gun’s name around him. Beefcake looks dead straight in the camera to finish his promo. “Boy…..you know who I’m talking to, are you man enough to step in the ring with me one on one next week? You don’t even deserve to be in the same damn ring as me and I will prove this as God and Johnny (he looks at his manager) is my witness.” . Brutus Beefcake V David Sammartino looks like it is on for next week.

Main Event time next…..

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka D/Q over WWF Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton. This was a top matchup that had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands (on a side note it is amazing how over Steamboat has got in just the first initial months of his time with the federation). As it looked as though the faces were going to end the heels short run as champions The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff (with “Classie” Freddie Classie to cheer on proceedings) cause the D/Q by entering the ring to put a beat down on Steamboat and Snuka. All four heels take turns in laying the boots to the two downed men until the crowd pops big as The US Express run down for the save. The heels get out of dodge as The Express make sure that the challengers are all ok. (15.02)

Show Ends.

Prime Time Wrestling – 11/06/85

@ Long Island, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Commentary team of Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson welcome us to the show as Patterson is looking forward tonight as “Cowboy” Bob Orton is to become a double champion and beat Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. McMahon scoffs at Patterson presumptions.

Rick “Quickdraw” McGraw pinned Mr X after an inside cradle. (4.12) Patterson calls McGraw a looser whereas McMahon puts over that this kid is getting matches signed and getting business carried out within the squared circle. Patterson adds that McGraw wouldn’t last five minutes in a ring with the likes of Greg “The Hammer” Valentine or Don Muraco.

A promo is then shown immediately after the match hyping the return of the one and only “Triple Crown Winner” Pedro Morales from injury. See him in his return match next week on Prime Time.

The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) (with Captain Lou Albano) pinned Les Thornton and Johnny Rodz. Super squash here as the heels hardly get any offence. Rotundo hits the airplan spin on Rodz for the 1-2-3. (1.39) If this isn’t a message to Orndorff and Orton I don’t know what is?

We go to the back with Mene Gene Okerlund who is with Don Muraco and Mr Fuji. Both men say that it is ironic that Hogan wears yellow as that is what he is a yellow belly coward, and they demand a rematch for the WWF World Title.

Swede Hanson pnned Barry O following a side slam. Crowd was dead for this one. (2.34) Think it’s time to quit Swede.

Quick interview with Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka. They vow revenge on The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff for costing them a chance of winning the Tag Titles.

Tony Atlas pinned Matt Borne after a press slam. Good close match here. (8.12) Given plently of time also, Atlas’ first single victory for quite some time now.

Promo for Saturday Night’s Main Event on 06/07/85.

Confirmed - Intercontinental Championship Cage Match. Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine verses challenger Tito Santana. Also confirmed to appear is World Wrestling Federation World Champion Hulk Hogan and “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Make sure you don’t miss it.

King Kong Bundy (with Jimmy Hart) pinned Paul Roma to five, after an Avalanche. (2.12) Roma never stood a chance.

Up next is the Main Event.

WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan pinned one half of The Tag Team Champs “Cowboy” Bob Orton. After a boot to the face and a leg drop. (14.12) After the match out comes Don Muraco and Mr Fuji. Muraco gets on the mic and scolds the crowd for worshipping a “Champion Of Cowards”. Muraco says that he is disgusted that the bookers in the back and Hogan himself has not granted him a rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship. He has therefore taken matters into his own hands and next week if he wins a tag team match with himself and his manager Mr Fuji going up against Hulk Hogan and a partner of his choosing he will be guaranteed a title match. Hogan accepts as the show ends.

Wrestling Challenge – 15/06/85

@ Philadelphia, PA – Spectrum

Commentators for the show –Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse “The Body” Ventura.

The commentators welcome us to the show and say that this weeks show is particularly special – the following matches will happen tonight – Brutus Beefcake will meet David Sammartino and a returning superstar to the federation will be going one on one with Big John Studd.

Firstly though we are taken to a match that happened a couple of days ago at a house show between two teams that truly underline the excellence of the tag team division in the WWF today and will be part of the division for many a year to come. The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (with Jimmy Hart) DRAW with The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid). The commentators put over that this is probably both teams biggest challenge whilst in the WWF – and that both teams are currently undefeated. (Match Time – 20.00 – Aired Time – 14.02) Not all the match was shown and about five minutes of it was clipped. Both teams got a standing ovation from the crowd after the match.

We are taken to an interview with Big John Studd and Bobby Heenan. They say it doesn’t matter who their surprise opponent opponent is tonight – whoever it is they will beat them for the 1-2-3.

Next up was a match between two superstars we haven’t seen for a few weeks as George “The Animal” Steele and Hillbilly Jim went to a double count out. (6.21) The commentators say that these two men fought all over Japan on the special WWF tour last month. Neither man gets the victory here, as we get our second no contest of the evening.

Another hype for the Big John Studd’s opponent later in the broadcast. As the commentators discuss who it could be, with Andre The Giant’s name being mentioned.

“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat pinned The Moondogs (Rex and Spot) after Steamboat delivered a karate cope off the top rope to Rex. (3.02) Very quick match here as Snuka and Steamboat get back to winning ways after failing to capture the tag titles from Orndorff and Orton.

Piper’s Pit is up next as Rowdy Roddy Piper welcomes us to two of his closest friends the Tag Team Champions of The World – “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton. This segment was basically used to further the feuds/issues these three men have with The US Express and Junkyard Dog.

A promo for Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Confirmed Matches –

Intercontinental Championship Cage Match. Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine verses challenger Tito Santana.

WWF Champion Hulk Hogan will be in action.

Brutus Beefcake (with Johnny Valliant) submission over David Sammartino (with Bruno Sammartino). Beefcake finishes off David with a sleeper. (11.21) Johnny Valliant and Bruno Sammartino were both sent to the back in this match as they got in a brawl on the outside.

Promo for Prime Time Wrestling as Don Muraco and Mr Fuji will be in action against WWF Champion Hulk Hogan and a partner of his choice. Also will see the return of Triple Crown winner Pedro Morales.

Up next is the main event as Big John Studd (with Bobby Heenan) are in the ring awaiting their surprise opponent.

The surprise turns out to be second generation star and former tag team champion Rocky Johnson!!! (Gets a decent pop from the crowd – but no more – think they were expecting the return of one Andre The Giant).

Rocky Johnson disqualification over Big John Studd after Johnson went for a powerslam on Studd – however Studd held onto the tope rope which made him land onto of Johnson for the pinfall. However, Rocky’s feet were on the ropes, this caused the referee to restart the match. Big John Studd was not happy to say the least and began choking out Johnson, until the referee called for the bell. (4.42)

Prime Time Wrestling – 18/06/85

@ Toronto, Ontario - Maple Leaf Gardens

Commentators Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson

Tag Team action gets us underway this week as The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) (with Captain Lou Albano) pinned Rene Goulet and Barry O. Rotundo pins Goulet after the airplane spin. During the match we are told that The US Express will challenge the tag team champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton at Saturday Night’s Main Event. (4.06) All three titles wil be on the line at SNME with Hulk Hogan also expected to be in action.

Interview in the back with Mene Gene Okerlund and WWF champion Hulk Hogan. Okerlund wants to know who will be Hogan’s partner for the main event tonight. Hogan brings into the interview none other than HILLBILLY JIM!! So tonight’s main event will see Hulk Hogan and Hillbilly Jim against Don Muraco and Mr Fuji.

Matt Borne pinned George Welles after a neck breaker. The commentators put over how impressive Borne looked against Welles partner Tony Atlas last week. Borne picks up his first televised victory in a WWF ring. (5.34)

Interview in the back with Bobby Heenan (conducted by Lord Alfred Hayes). Heenan introduces the viewing public to who he is now dubbing “The Heenan Family” Big John Studd, Ken Patera and The Missing Link. Heenan puts over the three men as a force to be reckoned with and you will see this later tonight as these three men will be in action.

The Hart Foundation (Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) (with Jimmy Hart) pinned Rick “Quickdraw” McGraw and Jim Powers. The Hart Attack was delivered to Powers for the victory via pinfall. (4.21) It is noted during the match about the amazing match The Harts had with The British Bulldogs last week and that fans are eager to see more matches between these two teams. Also McMahon adds that McGraw has been enjoying some mild success in singles competition recently.

Interview with Don Muraco and Mr Fuji – Fuji explains that tonight all you wrestling fans will see the penultimate step to Don winning the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.

Ivan Putski Pinned Steve Lombardi after the Polish Hammer (3.06) Total filler match with the polish superstar going over strong.

A promo for Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Confirmed Matches –

Intercontinental Championship Cage Match. Champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine verses challenger Tito Santana.

Tag Team Champions “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and “Cowboy” Bob Orton verses The US Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo)

WWF Champion Hulk Hogan will be in action.

Big return next as the crowd went crazy for “Triple Crown” Pedro Morales submission over Mr X with the boston crab. No ring rust at all from Pedro as McMahon puts over that it is great to see him back in the WWF ring – Patterson agrees to disagree. (3.12) Mene Gene grabs a word with Morales after the match, as the crowd chants his name. Morales likes to thank the fans for all his get well cards since he has been out on the shelf.

The Heenan Family (Big John Studd, Ken Patera and The Missing Link) pinned Paul Roma, Swede Hanson and Tony Garea after Hanson was met with the big boot by The Missing Link. (4.23) Convincing victory from the heels.

A quick run down of what to expect from this weeks Wrestling Challenge – as all three members of The Heenan Family will be in action again - with the Main Event signed as Tito Santana against Ken Patera – also MASSIVE six man tag action as “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat and Hillbilly Jim take on The Iron Shiek, Nikolai Volkoff and George “The Animal” Steele.

Main Event time as Don Muraco and Mr Fuji pinned WWF World Heavyweight Championship Hulk Hogan and Hillbilly Jim. As the referee was preoccupied with Fuji and Hogan brawling on the floor this allowed Muraco to take something out his pants and throw it into Hillbilly’s eyes. The commentators put over that it was salt – Muraco lifts Jim up plants him with the tombstone piledriver for the easy 3 count. (12.33) Patterson goes berserk with glee as McMahon calls Muraco a cheating low life. Don Muraco now has his rematch in the bag with Hulk Hogan. Show End.
