Trust me, Sean Avery isn't as big of a douchebag as Dion Phanuef.

 

I take nothing away from Phanuef as a player, I'm grateful he plays for my team. But if you met him in person or seen what he is like outside of the rink, you would know what I'm talking about. Just because he doesn't make headlines like Avery, doesn't make him less of a douchebag.

 

Plus Avery doesn't look like a real life Beavis.

Muir actually called it. Color me a bit surprised, though Dallas is definitely a good choice for the kid. Lot of opportunity for upward movement without too much of a fight, and they've traditionally been a solid franchise.

I remember reading a story about Phaneuf a couple of months ago where he had driven up to a Starbucks in Calgary and left his truck running, causing it to get stolen. Speaks wonders about his mental prowess.

His affinity for smoking seems kind of stupid as well. I've also heard rumors that he likes to play the "do you know who I am" card when trying to pick up women.

 

Ever been to Tantra, the night club?

 

Anyway one night I was there with a couple of buddies of mine, and we saw a lot of people there who we all went to High School with. Anyway there is this one spanish girl who I went to school with who was apart of the group of us that night, she is farely good looking... I would say about 7.5/10, but I never really looked at her anything more then a friend. Anyway Dion Phanuef and Darren McCarthey made an apparence at the club, and Dion Phanuef being mr. "Mack Daddy Pimp", decided to take it upon himself to hit on our friend. What he basically said was "Hey come to my house and come hang out", and she kindly rejected him, because she had a boyfriend who was in Portugal at the time. He then degraded her and called her a skank, and that "a stupid cunt like her wasn't deserving of a superstar like me"... Anyway when she told me what he said, me and a few of my friends decided to confront him and ask what his deal is...

 

But little did I know that my friend(the lady) had her older brother there with all his friends, and he obivously took more offense to it then we did. We asked Phanuef what his deal was, and he just told us to get the fuck out of here, and he can do whatever he wants because he makes more money in one day then we do in a paycheck. So the older brother went after Phanuef and punched him(although Phanuef wasnt really hurt by the punch) the bouncers jumped in front of Phanuef and McCarthey, and had to escort them out of the club... Or else they would've got hurt big time.

 

And the funny thing is as he was getting escorted by the bouncers, he was still talking shit while he was behind the bouncers.

 

Like I said though, I respect him as player and I'm glad he plays for Calgary... But he's a douchebag. Plus he looks like Beavis from Beavis and Butthead.

A little late, but that has got to be the worst blown call in the history of blown calls. The puck goes through the side of the net, the refs even look at a replay where it was very clear it went through the net, and they still call it a good goal. Good to hear the IIHF fired the video goal judge on that one, because if someone with that job can't make such an easy call, they don't deserve to be there in the first place.

Bruins sign Kobasew to a three year extension. Salaries 2.0, 2.5, 2.5 means a 2.33 million dollar cap hit. Not bad for what he brings to the team, he fits the system well as well as Chiarelli's mold for the team. I was fearing that he would get more, but it's certainly a great deal for the Bruins, who have a few more signings to make.

Some of the names are Providence players who will likely be back. Unfortunately, the signing of Kevin Regan (goalie prospect) will likely end Jordan Sigalet's time with Providence. You may have heard of Sigalet's story. He has MS but works through it to be a pretty good goaltender all things considered. He'll catch on somewhere.

 

The bolded names are the players who saw NHL time this season. Wideman might be tricky. Metropolit may be interesting, as he played well, but Krejci's emergence might make him expendable. Nokelainen will be back, as they paid dearly to get him. Allen is gone, and Auld might be as well, as if Fernandez actually stays healthy this season, it'll be a Thomas/Fernandez duo and Auld would be the odd man out. Still, Auld played well this year outside of a few starts and I think he'll find work somewhere.

I meant to post this a few days ago, but I got sidetracked with other things. Apparently, Detroit may have been looking at someone else during the whole Brunnstrom Sweepstakes, or at least this may have been one of the reasons that Ken Holland didn't seem too concerned with letting the Swede get away.

 

Meet Ville Leino. Of course, he's not perfect, either, but the Wings know how to develop talent, especially European talent. Makes you feel good about the future of the franchise.

Kings parking got increased to 30.00, so it's safe to say I won't be going at all this year. That costs more than a goddamn ticket!

 

If, in fact this price increase is for the Staples Center as a whole, I still can't justify spending that much to park my car for a few hours to watch such a shitty team play. I mean, the Lakers are one thing, but that's another.

Bruins re-sign Aaron Ward to a 2/5 million dollar contract. He probably would have gotten more on the open market, but he liked it here. More gooder on Chiarelli.

While I'm thrilled to have a veteran blue-liner that's a good locker room presence back, I have real concerns about his health.

 

He battled injuries throughout this past season, and as he gets older those aches & pains will be tougher to play through. Hopefully they can ease Stuart or Lashoff into more playing time and limit Ward's minutes.

 

He doesn't help anyone sitting in a suit on the 9th floor of the "Garden".

Chicago signed a Finnish goalie named Antti Niemi. If they put Niemi and Antti Niemi in the same room, it'll be a catastrophe. My guess is that he's third behind Khabibulin and Crawford and won't immediately see NHL action, but it never hurts. I believe he will be our solitary Suomi, if I'm not mistaken.

The Hawks also have Petri Kontiola. He's a Fin.

 

Hopefully they end up better than the Tuomo Ruutu experience.
