mw679 Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit - Intercontinental Championship - Ladder Match - Royal Rumble 2001 Nice pick...That one was next on my list.
CanadianChris Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Finally. That was on my initial list, but I always seemed to find another one I wanted more. I knew someone would remember it eventually. Anyway, it's been four rounds since my last Randy Savage match, so I'd better pick another one: WWF Championship match: Randy Savage [c] vs. Ultimate Warrior, Summerslam, August 29, 1992 Not as good as the classic they had at WrestleMania VII, and somewhat marred by the (rumoured) non-turn of the Warrior, but still the usual excellent match between these two, and well worth checking out. Warrior had better chemistry with Savage than with anyone else by far.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Let's go with... Mikey Whipwreck vs. the Sandman - October 29, 1995 Mikey wins the ECW Title Kerry Von Erich vs. Ric Flair - David Von Erich Memorial Show Kerry wins the NWA Title A couple of classic title changes to switch things up a bit.
CanadianChris Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 I have to have at least one match with two guys trying to kill each other (well, one guy almost legit killing the other): Street Fight: Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon, King of the Ring, June 24, 2001
foleyfanforever88 Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 I'm just about out of matches that I really want, so I didn't really think much about this pick. I guess it's the best one of its kind, and I love HBK, so.. Elimination Chamber 1 - HBK vs. Triple H vs. Kane vs. RVD vs. Jericho vs. Booker T - Survivor Series 2002
Ravenbomb Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Juventud Guerrera vs. Blitzkrieg 4/11/1999 Spring Stampede 99 A mostly overlooked but really good match. It's a damn shame Blitzkrieg left wrestling, he was fantastic for the short amount of time he wrestled.
Gert T Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 With my 15th round pick, I select: Brock Lesnar v. The Undertaker/WWE Champonship/Hell In A Cell/No Mercy '02 Loved Heyman screaming like a girl for Brock, the buildup videos were good (kinda creepy) and the match delivered.
Gert T Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 With Hitman Jebus' 15th pick, he selects: Rey Mysterio, Jr. v. Psychosis/Bash at the Beach '97/July 7, 1996
TheFranchise Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Oh shoot, i'm after Mellow. I hope he picks tonight, as I go away for a few days tomorrow.
Gert T Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 And to think we would have never seen that match had Undertaker been a team player and lost to Brock at Unforgiven. If need be, you can PM me with a couple choices, but I would assume Mellow will be around here sooner rather than later.
TheFranchise Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Yeah, Mellow's usually good for timing with his pick. I only need to get two picks to message you with anyway so it's not going to be held up.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Money in the Bank IV CM Punk vs. Carlito vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. MVP vs. John Morrison vs. Chris Jericho vs. Shelton Benjamin WrestleMania XXIV Orlando, FL March 30, 2008 No real explanation needed. This match was fun, and one of the more inventive MITB matches, in my opinion. The atmosphere of the Citrus Bow was phenomenal, so I had to go with my second favorite match on this card.
TheFranchise Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 My first Brian Danielson match is against Morishima trying to regain his ROH Title. August 25 2007 if i'm not mistaken. This one was a fight.
Canadian Brandon Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton. WWE Championship. Royal Rumble 2008. January 27th, 2008. This is one of my favorite builds that the WWE has ever done. It had me wondering up until the very last second if Hardy would win the title.
mw679 Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Chris Jericho vs. 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Pitbull #2 vs. "The Franchise" Shane Douglas/4 Corners Match/ECW TV Title/Heatwave '96/July 13th, 1996 40 minutes of awesome. That's about the only way to descibe this one. Jericho comes in the champ and is the first one eliminated. 2 Cold Scorpio does his usual great high flying offense but falls victim to a superbomb. The match just builds and builds and, of course, the real story in this one is the fued between Douglas and Pitbull #2. It comes down to the both of them and here is where Francine turns on the Pitbulls, joins Douglas and she gets powerbombed through a table for her efforts. A great ending with Pitbull #2 kicking out from shots from a broken table, a chain, brass knucks and a shot from the title belt itself. Douglas finally gets the win with the belly to belly suplex to clinch his 2nd TV ttle.
Gert T Posted June 23, 2008 Author Report Posted June 23, 2008 Was Jericho on his way to WCW then, hence the early jobbing?
mw679 Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Was Jericho on his way to WCW then, hence the early jobbing? That would be my guess, Gert. I believe Jericho started wrestling with WCW in August of 96, so that's probably right.
King Cucaracha Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 The Rock vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker Vengeance 2002, WWE Undisputed Championship This one probably could have waited a round, but I just watched it the other day so it's stuck in my head. If there's one thing WWE tends to do well recently, it's multi-man World Title matches. This was probably the first one to fit that bill. BikerTaker doesn't get looked back on too fondly, but he had some great matches back then.
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Was Jericho on his way to WCW then, hence the early jobbing? That would be my guess, Gert. I believe Jericho started wrestling with WCW in August of 96, so that's probably right. It was the ECW trademark of the champion getting eliminated first.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 The Rock/Austin match from Wrestlemania XVII was already chosen. Posters should at least write their choices in text along with the pictures. No telling when image hosting will disappear at times.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 I don't know what you're talking about........... My first pick: RVD, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, Bobby Lashley, Finlay, and Ric Flair. MitB II. A complete spotfest, but that's half the fun. Ric Flair coming back out was a hell of a mark-out moment. That should lead logically to another RVD win, but instead, I'm going to take a different match from that show. I also feel badly slighting another ECW title match, but at least one participant in that match is represented with my pick: Edge, Lita, and Mick Foley vs. Terry Funk, Tommy Dreamer, and Beulah from One Night Stand '06. I can't find a pic, sorry.
King Cucaracha Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Curses! That ONS match was gonna my next pick! In that case, I'll take one of the best Hardcore Title matches ever... Rob Van Dam vs. Jeff Hardy Invasion 2001, WWF Hardcore Title
mw679 Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Bret Hart vs. The British Bulldog/WWF Championship/WWF In Your House 5: Seasons Beatings/December 17th, 1995 Another great Bret vs. Bulldog matchup. A nice 20 minute back and forth match. Diana is in the corner of Davey Boy, who is looking to defeat Bret like he did in Wembley in 92. Some nice technical work by Bret countered by some good brawling and power moves of Davey Boy. Bret does a deep bladejob, turning the mat and Davey's trunks pink from all the blood. The only downsides to the match are Diana's bad acting(and the fact they have it split-screened on her and the match half the time.) and, of course, Vince's annoying commentating. Normally, Vince doesn't bother me that much, but he really grates on me in this one. Anyway, Bret wins with a La Magistral cradle(!) to retain.
Jebus Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Fun Fact: In his book, Chris Jericho says he gave Bret, who was looking for a unique finish for the match, the idea to use La Magistral.
Jebus Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Canadian Brandon's time has passed. Franchise can make his pick.
Gert T Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 I am not sure Franchise will be back within his 12 hours span, which started awhile ago, so if Mellow wants to pick, he can.
CanadianChris Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I'm looking at potential matches for my last five picks, and I just remembered several more that weren't on my original list. I'm now wishing I could have a do-over on my last pick. I could probably go five more rounds on top of this.
