TheOriginalOrangeGoblin-IN! Rules: -Miss three rounds, you're out of the draft. Your players are sent back into the pool. -Offensive Linemen are drafted individually. -Players cannot be selected as a player if they have been selected as a coach, and vice versa. - First three rounds have a 10 hour pick limit. - Subsequent 27 (or so) rounds have an 8 hour pick limit. If you're going to be at work/vacation/making love then PM the person who drafts after you, or PM someone who isn't in the draft, or I'll give you my phone number. I'm sorry, we just need to keep this thing moving. -PM the person who drafts after you. Do this every time. I'm super serious. - Include a picture and a description with every pick. If you do not, your pick does not count, and the next person is up. You can jump in with your pick and a picture/description at any moment like a frenzied Viking front-office member. - No Czeching it. If you start drafting R-Kal Truluck or Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, you're out and your picks go back into the pool. These are the rules. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Because we are choosing coaches, what do we with the ones who had successful playing careers? Take Ditka for example, do we count him as a TE, a Head Coach or both?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I think to speed up the draft and make it easier on some of us, one suggestion that was made in the mod folder is that instead of picking 5 o-linemen, to just go ahead and pick an entire offensive line unit, but that two from the same era won't be allowed. For example, instead of drafting Bruce Matthews, taking the 1999 Tennessee Titans o-line. Or, the 83 Red Skins or 92 Cowboys, you get the drill. But then someone else can't come in and swipe the 84 Skins or 93 Boys. D-linemen can still be chosen individually, but there are very few individual offensive linemen that I can think of that will fill up 60 spots. Reducing that number to 12 great offensive lines is better, in my opinion. Oh, and I think you should be only able to take either Ditka the player or Ditka the coach. And he's something of a special case anyways- how many people are going to want Holmgren the overweight tight end, or Dan Reeves the mediocre running back? Screw that. The NBA one should've allowed for player-coaches, IMO, but not the NFL one.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I say the MLB one should happen in the offseason or something. That's why we have all these drafts going on- the seasons for these sports are either winding down or on some serious downtime.

Just John 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Haven't posted here in forever, but I've been reading over the NBA draft which has been a lot of fun. With school being out, I have more than enough time to fill with something like this, so I'd like to join. And for what it's worth, I support the O-line group idea.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I'm definitely in, and willing to go either way with the O-lines. I think the whole lines will keep the draft more lively, most likely.

Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I'm against the O-Line idea because we might end up with a situation where a dynasty could see the same basic line get drafted 3 or 4 times, which is pretty silly. It just brings up a whole lot of issues that I think will complicate things too much. I'm still in regardless of the decision though.

Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 How about if one o-line from one team gets picked, no one else can pick an o-line from that team. I think there's enough teams for it to work. Or we can go by decades. If a Steelers o-line from the 70's gets picked, you can still go with a Steelers o-line from the 00s (but you can't pick another Steelers o-line from the 70's). And then you run into the problem with what defines an era. How about if one o-line from one team gets picked, no one else can pick an o-line from that team. This is another option with a lot of problems, and leaves out a lot of good players.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 29, 2008 An era is defined as 3 years for teams from 1990 on, and 5 before. Change happens a lot quicker these days. The point is to basically try not to draft the same player twice, and to also simplify the draft and keep it much livelier. There's a lot more interest going on in picking skill position players than there are hogs.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 That's pretty tough to judge though. 5 beforehand? How beforehand are we talking about?
