Smartly Pretty Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Hey, I might not be at the computer for a bit. Who should I pm my list of wanted players too?
Kahran Ramsus Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 I'm going to bed at 11, so I probably am not the best bet. I figured that we may start seeing some coaches soon. Unlike other sports a good head coach is often vital in football. I just think there are too many of them to justify passing on a player you feel you must have. But we are getting to the point where we are getting past the must have players and it is better to get a top of the line coach than reach for a player you don't really want. It will be interesting to see the order in which the top ones get picked as a lot of it depends on the playing style that people are looking for.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 More WRs! Lance Alworth, WR 7 time All-AFL 7 time AFL all-star (Other stuff here: http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=16) Cot damn are you going the KOAB route?

Guest Vitamin X Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 S Rodney Harrison * 2x Pro Bowl selection (1998, 2001) * 4x All-Pro selection (1998, 2001, 2003, 2004) * 2x Super Bowl champion (2003, 2004) * In the 20/20 Club * Only player in NFL history with 30 INTs and 30 sacks Selected NFL statistics (through Week 17 of the 2007 NFL season) Tackles 589 Sacks 30.5 INT 33 Making another huge addition to my secondary with a guy who's a sure-fire HOFer, Harrison's a dirty fucking player who is an excellent blitzer and can shut down the other half of the field that Rod Woodson isn't covering.
Just John Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Nice choice with Harrison. I was debating between 3 players with this pick, and I'll be happy if just one of the other two gets back to me. Since I have a LB and a DB, I figured I'd go DL with this pick, and I've settled on... John Randle - DT 7x Pro Bowl 7x All Pro 90's All Decade Team 137.5 career sacks (T - 5th all time) Watch out, VX, my guy's comin' for ya. Just what I need on my defense. A big nasty motherfucker that'll get some sacks, strips, and heckle the oppostion. Safe to say my defense shouldn't have much trouble pressuring opposing QBs so far.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted June 14, 2008 Author Report Posted June 14, 2008 Your friend and mine, Smartly Pretty takes Broadway Joe Willy Namath! Pure sex.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 Well, I was looking at my team and thought to myself, "Gee, I could really use a hall of fame defensive player..." Doug Atkins-DE 8x Pro Bowl selection (1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1965) 10x All-Pro selection (1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1968) 1958 Pro Bowl MVP NFL 1960s All-Decade Team New Orleans Saints #81 Retired Tennessee Volunteers #91 Retired Pro Football Hall of Fame College Football Hall of Fame That's not all, though. This guy was 6'8" 275. With him on one edge and Bruce Smith on the other, you guys might as well adopt a big shiny red bullseye as your team logo, because your QB is a dead man in cleats. He'll tip a lot of balls, too. Considering I have four of the best hands in NFL history in my secondary, that's a big factor. He also played a bit of DT, and I'm all about some versatility.
HarleyQuinn Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 It's been 8 hours since the last pick. MFerExtreme is on the clock.
Kahran Ramsus Posted June 14, 2008 Report Posted June 14, 2008 I don't get the Hornung pick. Yes, he was versatile and important part of the Lombardi-era Packers, but he wasn't even the best RB on his own team.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 MFer takes CB Lem Barney 7 Pro Bowls 7 All Pro 56 Career Picks
MFer Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Looks like I made it in time after all. There's been a good amount of corners taken so far, and that's one position I really want to make sure I get a top-flight player at, so I'm going with... Lem Barney 7x Pro Bowl selection (1967, 1968, 1969, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976) 7x All-Pro selection (1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1975) NFL 1960s All-Decade Team 1967 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year #97 on Sporting News Top 100 List of Great NFL Players Sang background vocals on Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" Like Gale Sayers, Barney was another guy who could do it all. He was a great kick and punt returner for a time as well as a great corner. He even was a punter for a couple seasons. Also, this is one of those rare moments where I'll be able to take a Lion without any hesistation.
HarleyQuinn Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 DE Chris Doleman The Glory - 8x Pro Bowl Selection - 6x All-Pro Selection - 1990's All Decade Team The Stats - 150.5 sacks - 44 forced fumbles & 24 fumble recoveries - His final 5 seasons (34-38 years old) he had 55 Sacks - Had 21 sacks in 1989 - Had 15 sacks at age 37 in 1998 I actually remember him more so in his latter seasons with Atlanta and San Francisco but I remember he was a solid sack artist and more importantly, another defender who can make the "big play" when counted upon as evidenced by his 44 forced fumbles. That's an average of 3 a season and given his longevity and skill even when old, he'll be a force regardless. My defense is being set up for takeaways, turnovers, and setting up good field position as a result.
Gert T Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Nice pick. I was hoping he would slide under the radar a lot longer.
Brett Favre Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 My defense will be beastly not only because of it's players, but because of.. Chuck Noll. 4 Super Bowl Titles. 1972 UPI AFC Coach of the Year 1989 Maxwell Football Club NFL Coach of the Year NFL 1980s All-Decade Team Over 200 total wins 24-16 in the Playoffs.
nogoodnick Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Derrick Motherfucking Brooks * 10x Pro Bowl selection (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006) * 9x All-Pro selection (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005) * Pro Bowl MVP (2005) * AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2002) * Co-Walter Payton Man of the Year Award Winner (2000) * Bart Starr Award (2004) * 1x Super Bowl champion (XXXVII) (2002) * Led the NFL in non-offensive touchdowns in 2002 * Led the NFL in interception touchdowns in 2002 One of my favorite players and one of the reasons I was a Bucs fan back in the day. He was unstoppable in 2002 on the way to that Super Bowl win.
Just John Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Hard to believe Brooks was still around close to the 6th round with his credentials. He was one of the other two I considered with my last pick.
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Brooks was going to be my next pick. Excellent choice there, nogoodnick.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 Time to get the D-Line going. DT - Warren Sapp 8x Pro Bowl selection (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005) 6x All-Pro selection (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002) Super Bowl champion (XXXVII) NFL 1990s All-Decade Team 1999 NFL Defensive Player of the Year 569 Tackles 96.5 Sacks 4 Picks Eventual member of the same insane HoF class that will include Favre, Strahan, Ogden and Sapp.
Kahran Ramsus Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 I knew Brooks wouldn't drop to me, but I was definitely hoping for it.
Brett Favre Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Argh. I was hoping Warren Sapp made it back.
Kahran Ramsus Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Argh. I was hoping Warren Sapp made it back. And you know, the saddest thing is that you probably could have gotten Noll coming back and got both guys you wanted.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 I wouldn't have taken either one, looking at the other side of the board. Has it been eight hours for Orange Goblin? I think so.
Brett Favre Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Argh. I was hoping Warren Sapp made it back. And you know, the saddest thing is that you probably could have gotten Noll coming back and got both guys you wanted. You're probably right.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 Sorry was out of town unexpectedly. My picks: Gene Upshaw, LG - 7x Pro Bowl - 11x All-Pro - 2x Super Bowl champ - 1970's All-Decade team - NFL 75th Anniversary - Time to start bolstering the O-line and he's the best guy left. Absolutely dominant, very consistent and could block anybody. and Franco Harris, RB - 9x Pro Bowl - 7x All-Pro - 1970's All-Decade team - Super Bowl IX MVP - A member of the 10,000 yd rushing club - I need some form of offense and RB's are going much quicker than WR's so I have to grab an elite one. It doesn't get much more elite than Harris. A perfect combination back who could run for power as well as for speed. Was instrumental in the Steeler's dynasty of the 1970's and will be the cornerstone of my running game.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 OLB - Shawne Merriman 3 All Pro 3 Pro Bowls in 3 seasons in the NFL The first of the young guns taken in this draft, there may be players with more legend available, but there isn't anyone batting a thousand on Pro-Bowls and All Pro teams. This guy is a sack artist, and a terrifying football player at 6'4" 272 pounds. I now have Ray Lewis and Shawne Merriman playing LB for me... I'd rather get shot than be a running back playing against my team.
Brett Favre Posted June 15, 2008 Report Posted June 15, 2008 I was going to go a different direction, but this guy will solidify my defensive line and along with Randy White will form one of the better defensive tackle duos: Dan Hampton. 4 Time Pro Bowler. 6 Time All-Pro (1st team once) 82 Sacks NFL 1980s All-Decade Team 1982 PFW NFL Defensive Player of the Year 1984 NFLPA NFC DL of the Year 1990 George S. Halas Courage Award
Jorge Gorgeous Posted June 15, 2008 Author Report Posted June 15, 2008 1990 George S. Halas Courage Award Did he punch out a mountain lion, or something?
