Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Leben's monkey ass got arrested for a DUI http://mmajunkie.com/news/4250/ufc-fighter...ted-for-dui.mma
Mik 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Actually, according to MMAMania it's an old charge that he never served the time for and in order to get his visa to fight Bisping in London he had to settle it and serve the jail time.
Mik 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Word is going around that Rich Franklin might move back to 205 because he's already beat everyone not named Anderson Silva at 185 and neither he or anyone else wants to see Franklin/Silva 3. 1) Props to Rich for realizing his place and 2) I think it's a great idea. There are a lot of big money fights for Rich at 205.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 After a Hendo fight (which could be HUGE) I would love to see Rich fight at
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I dunno about Rich's size @ 205, he's a huge MW and we've already seen undersized 205'ers like Shogun struggle with bigger fighters in the division. Talent-wise Rich for sure has the skills to make an impact though but I'd enjoy seeing a Lyoto rematch along with fights against guys like Chuck and Wanderlei. The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I'd be so down for Franklin/Wandy, Franklin/Chuck, Franklin/Rashad, and Franklin/Jackson.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Outside of another fight with Hendo I don't see anyone right now that can beat Silva, so this could be a good move for Rich, he's fought there before and there are some serious headlining fights with Rich at
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I hope Jacare wins the DREAM MW GP... Then goes to the UFC, and dominates setting up a superfight with Anderson Silva!
Mik 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I'd imagine that winning the GP isn't going to help in lowering his asking price. I was under the impression that was the reason he's not in the UFC in the first place. I'm really looking forward to watching his fight tomorrow night. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I haven't seen his fight where he lost but from what I've heard Jacare doesn't take well to being punched in the face. I don't think anybody is sleeping on his sub ability but it's a world of difference from grappling tourneys to having a guy throw elbow strikes at your head. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 It was his 1st pro MMA fight, and it was like 6 years ago... If thats your basis on him not being able to take a punch well, then I'm sorry but thats lame. If we use that agrument, I guess we can say Forrest Griffin doesn't take well to being kicked in the head by submission fighters.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 I think what's more sketchy is his list of opponents. Not exactly world beaters.

Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 There's been no real evidence since the Macaco fight to say one way or another if Jacare's chin is weak or not. That being said, no one ever really learns to take a punch better. Like the saying goes, "You can't grow muscles on your chin."

That being said, no one ever really learns to take a punch better. Like the saying goes, "You can't grow muscles on your chin." Maybe so... But fighters can adapt to take punishment better. I've never really seen a fighter in MMA with a George Chuvalo/Jake LaMotta like chin where they CAN'T be knocked down... Or rocked badly. But until I seen recent evidence that Jacare can't take punishment or "doesn't like to be punched"(which is a completely questionable theory to begin with), I call bullshit. I'm sure he's getting punched in his face training with Xtreme Couture... It's not like they don't have intense training.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Mark Hunt don't be going down when you rap and tap him on the chin. He keeps coming like a Samoan Terminator. Remember that New Year's Pride Event where he ate the Cro Cop high kick and just sort of cracked his neck? Shit made me a fan for life.

Remember that New Year's Pride Event where he ate the Cro Cop high kick and just sort of cracked his neck? Shit made me a fan for life. I guess Mark Hunt if you only talk about MMA competiton... But he did get KO'd by Semmy Schilt a couple weeks ago in K-1 Kickboxing rules. But that was to the body.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Yeah, when I think of the best MMA chins, it's Hunt, Penn, and Gomi.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 I guess I can safely I never seen Diego Sanchez really rocked on his feet... But he's never faced an elite striker.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Brian Gassaway dropped him in their fight but it's forgotten because Diego recovered quickly and took him down with an ankle pick.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Semmy Schilt showed that you don't have to hit someone in the face to KO a fighter. Mark Hunt thought he could eat anything Schilt could throw. He did *not* see that spinning back kick coming at all. If you want to talk the ability to just take a shitkicking and keep coming, then Nogueira has to be really high on that list. He got knocked down in the fights with Sylvia and Herring, but didn't get finished and just kept coming. Let alone all the abuse he ate from Fedor. The man just will not stay down. Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Okay, let's not shit ourselves: he was FIN-ISHED against Herring, it's only due to Heaths dumbassery that he won.
Mik 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2008 I agree but everyone's absolute fear of his submissions buys him a bit more recovery time then most fighters in that situation. Did anyone else know that Rowdy Roddy Piper's son is a fighter on Team Quest? I had no idea.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 File Jesse Bongfelt vs TJ Grant from TKO 32 under "FOTYC's you won't hear about." Fuck this fight was sweet, awesome grappling, reversals and sub attempts with Grant especially looking great against the champion. Hadn't seen much of him before but he's for sure a guy to keep you eye on.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Din Thomas, Tommy Speer, and Kuniyoshi Hironaka all got released from the UFC today. Tommy Speer is still very young, and will most likely be back in the UFC. Din Thomas has stated he wants to move down in weight and fight at 145. And I can understand why Hironaka got released.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Din to WEC makes sense but I'd also love to see him up against Diaz, Berto, Noons and Edwards in EliteXC. Hironaka should have been forced to walk out of the UFC offices with the Stone of Shame dragging behind him. This, of course, is the stone forced upon those who get KO'd by Jonathan frickin' Goulet. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2008 Din would dominate Noons and Berto. It wouldn't be close.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 He just got beat by Josh Neer who, while tough, isn't exactly top-flight so I don't think you're in much of a position to say he'd dominate Noons and Berto.

You think Noons and Berto are top-flight? Neer is more well-rounded then both of them. Both fighters are very one-dimensional.
