PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 My neighborhood was just paid a visit by the ice cream man. THE ICE CREAM MAN! I haven't made a purchase from the ice cream man in at least a decade and a half, since I'm pretty sure that the city I lived in passed some stupid law prohibiting that kind of business. I'm not really that big on ice cream, etc. these days, but I pretty much had to get something. I went with the chocolate eclair.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 You shoulda gone with the frog shaped ice cream bar with the bubble gum nose. You fail.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 How could anyone still be an ice cream man? Connotations of pedophilia, and I'd have to assume constant robbery - come on. Worst of all, bow ties in the summer? This notwithstanding, I wouldn't hesitate to go pick up a rocket-sicle if the truck came by. Since this is CTDWAT, what the fuck is the actual name of Rocketsicles? Rocket Pops? That doesn't sound right. And finally, one of my favourite Simpsons gags ever was "Native American Ice Cream...formerly Big Chief Crazy Cone."
migoli 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 The whole bit from Eddie Murphy about the ice cream man was spot on in my area as a kid. I have seen kids beg for their mom to throw money down from 2,3,4 story windows. But the weirdest thing i ever seen from the ice cream man was him trying to sell hot dogs and hamburgers out of the truck. Even at 10 or whatever I was at the time I thought that was strange. yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 Ice cream men in my neck of the woods just sells prepackaged Popsicles and sherbets on sticks of varying types. No ice cream in a cone He also has a collection of frito lay products, coke products, and the occasional gum and fire ball. And the annoying PA with Pop Goes The Weasel. ARGH
Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 Ice cream man comes by the neighborhood every day here. Dude even comes by the house across the street.
the max 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 The ice cream man around here is a far cry from the Palagi trucks I remember as a boy. White, painted, clean with all the stickers placed perfectly, ice cream treats or frozen slush. Around here, it's a shady looking couple operating out of a 1988 Econoline van with a speaker on the roof playing Disney songs. The van looks like if your kid gets close enough, he/she is going to be pulled into the van and fondled. That's exactly the same paint and style truck it is. I've never bought anything from them. CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 Anyone had a McDonald's iced coffee yet? It's tough to imagine my ever drinking an iced coffee, but I'm all over these. I'm also kind of happy that I don't have to go anywhere near Starbucks. Still, I fear I'm on a slippery slope.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 Where the hell have you Canadians been? We've had iced coffee here at Mickey Ds in the states since like two summers ago. All of the ice cream men around here seem to be underachieving twentysomething stoners. I wouldn't be surprised if the trucks were some sort of front for a small time drug operation. Iced coffee just came to McDonalds this year, but Iced Caps from Timmy's has been going strong for ten years I reckon.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 Man, I used to down those all the time when I worked next to a Tim's but now they don't sit quite right. Maybe because the fat content is massive, even worse if you get it with cream instead of skim or 2% milk.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Who was on a powetrip one time in TCS, tiring someone? Was it Czech? It probably was, because I'm tired of his fucking powertrip. Not really, but Iced Coffee in a discussion with Ice Cream? FUCK that noise.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Where the hell have you Canadians been? We've had iced coffee here at Mickey Ds in the states since like two summers ago. Dunno, but I used to get iced coffees at the bubble tea places because they probably had the least amount of sugar in it. Back to the Ice Cream Man, I'd imagine that whoever does the skatepark near Markville must make a killing. Not only have you got tons of kids there, but the train station is right there as well as a community centre. BTW, the Popsicle site calls the red white and blue one a "Firecracker", although they seem to have the same thing but-not-as-pointy called a mega-missile

Matt Young 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 One time, my friend Adam, who seems to change jobs monthly, accepted employment as an ice cream man. I visited their base of operations with him. Seeing 30-odd ice cream trucks in one area was strange enough, but then I found out that all the ice cream men and mechanics smoked weed. Adam later picked me up once at 9 A.M., in the middle of the ghetto, blasting the music from the ice ceram truck he was driving. We then proceeded to drive around town (as I sat on a cooler- The trucks all have just 1 seat) getting stoned. 'Twas fantastic.

Guest Smues Report post Posted June 8, 2008 I've heard the ice cream man near my place but haven't managed to find him yet this summer. I did find him once last year and probably spent $20 on various goodies. (Not all for me, but I at someone elses house. Had I been home I probably would have loaded up on shit for my freezer.) I don't know why I find the overpriced shit from the ice cream truck so appealing, but it's an addiction I'll never break.
