But man, what a comeback. Those back-to-back saves by the Turk goaltender were just ridiculous, and at least two guys (I believe they were both Turks, coincidentally) had to get facial gashes closed & bandaged mid-match.

 

Swiss goaltender should have had the first goal, but the second one was a really unlucky deflection off a Swiss defender, nothing he could have done considering he was in mid-save-motion when it deflected.

Just put on SBS; thinking the News hour with Jim Lehrer would be on; and a 1 hour highlights program is on instead.

 

I'm really angry at SBS for not advertising the fact they would have a hour highlights each day.

 

It was in the TV guide though but I saw no ads on the telly; not during South Park and not during the news; Bullshit fucking bullshit.

 

But at least I know now, and can look forward to an hours highlights in twenty three hours

Speaking of Turkey, that was one hell of a second half. I feel bad for any sucker watching Switzerland/Portugal.

 

Turkey falls behind 2-0, they cut it to 2-1 at 75'. Cech, widely regarded as being one of the top planetary goaltenders, goes for a lunging catch on a cross and the wet ball slips through his hands, right onto the shin of the Turkish captain for the game-tying goal at 87'. At 89' the Czech defense gets caught trying to catch said Turk captain offsides and he buries the game-winner with some wacky spin & bounce off the crossbar. All this in an elimination game, winner moves on. What a loss for the Czechs, though; four minutes away from advancing and one slip-up ends up being the momentum swinger that ends their quest.

That was heartbreaking for Croatia but I knew it was coming. Their defense was being lack that final minute like they were going "yay we won! We don't need defense at all!" and then they got bite in the ass. So good show Turkey.
