TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 SIGN-UPS ARE NOW CLOSED. We're running this as serpentine draft rules.. so the order goes 1, 2, ...13, and then 13, 11, 10.. so the last person to pick in the first round is also the first person to pick in the next round. 1. You can draft 11 (eleven) first team players and 5 (five) substitutes too, so there will be 16 (sixteen) player draft rounds. Any formation you like.. but when selecting a player, please say where he plays in your team, I.E 'right back', 'left wing', 'left midfield' etc. 2. There is no formation limits, as long as you have one keeper and ten outfield players you can put them wherever you want. 3. There will be a final round draft to draft yourself an assistant manager, who can be anybody, manager, coach, anybody at all. 4. You can draft any player, living or dead, in the prime of their career, but you can only draft one player once, you can't sign Man United's David Beckham and someone else draft Real Madrid's same player. Don't worry if you don't have extensive football knowledge.. this is just for fun. =] Random order of selections : 1. Sivy 2. King Cucaracha 3. TheFranchise 4. Deancoles 5. Huss 6. Jorge Gorgeous (DQ'd) 7. 909 8. Gert T 9. MFerXtreme87 10. Mystery Eskimo 11. UndertakerHart 12. RonL21 (DQ'd) 13. Chriswok Now the little bitty rules.. try and include a little description and picture of your player picked. & PM the person after yourself! There are 12 hour gaps between picks, if somebody doesn't pick in that 12 hours, then the next person is eligible to pick, with the person who missed out able to pick at any future time. Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I'm in. Now that the NBA one is done, it's fine to have this one. Plus, we need a sports draft that appeals to our European folk.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Excellent. I'll put the word around, see if we can get a few more in for this.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I'll try. My dad has some really good knowledge of soccer. I can always look up players on Wikipedia.

TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Good, i'll leave it up for a few more days and/or until we get too many people playing. I take it you're in, Huss.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Put me in as well.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Good stuff, we've got a few more names in now, anybody want to throw any ideas around for potential ideas? Everybody okay with the no set formation, one keeper + ten outfielders and one assistant ruling? We'll go serpentine rules since every other draft has one & it's less confusing for people to switch around. Any ideas to add?
sivy 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Can we choose our own formations?
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Can we choose our own formations? Yes, I think that would be a fair thing to do. Somebody might want to play with three (or four!) strikers so to limit them to just two would be wrong, whereas someone who wants a five or three man midfield should be able to choose. So.. When we start the draft, in everybody's first draft pick, they should start by specifying their formation.. or with every draft pick, specify what position they'll be in, in your team. What's everybody's thoughts on this?

RonL21 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 i don't really follow soccer all that much, but I'll see what I can do
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 It's all for fun mate, even if you dont have great knowledge, pick who you want :] Now.. Eight or Twelve hour time difference between picks?
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I'm in, although I should say I'm away from internet access Friday-Sunday this week if thats a problem.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 It shouldn't be a problem.. So many picks in the world of football, you're welcome to PM me a list of five players or so (or even to be on the safe side, as many picks as there are people before you, if that makes sense) and i'll pick in your absence. cr7 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Sounds like a good plan when it comes to picking an individual formation, and where each player will be obviously. Eight or twelve hours doesn't seem like a big difference either way, as long as we PM whoever is up next.
MFer 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I might as well get in on this; I played the game long enough and I don't hate it like most Americans.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 Sounds like a good plan when it comes to picking an individual formation, and where each player will be obviously. Eight or twelve hours doesn't seem like a big difference either way, as long as we PM whoever is up next. Well, 12 hours was working well in the Wrestling draft until some people regularly took up all 12 hours and people complained, then they switched to eight hours, which works, but people are regularly missing their picks altogether. We'll start this on Friday night, leaves a couple of days for people who haven't seen the thread yet to get in before it starts. If anybody has any ideas about the draft/pick times/anything at all, pm me or ask in here.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 Just a reminder.. sign-ups are closed in about 26-30 hours.
sivy 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 I'm just asking who will be starting with the first pick.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 Quite looking forward to doing this now.. After the sign-up closes tonight, I'll randomly select the order to start, we'll go serpentine rules with 12 hour windows for picks. If anybody wants to switch to 8 hour windows we'll take a mini vote.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 Just a last quick ditch reminder to tell people signing up ends in a few hours. For those who aren't going to be around over the weekend, feel free to send me a list of players and i'll gladly post on your behalf, i'll make sure this draft runs smoothly. I've had a few people send me lists already so this'll run pretty good.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 This draft has started, and i'm going to have to make the first few pics myself on behalf of other people. I really shouldn't have started this on a weekend.
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 On behalf of Sivy One of two men arguably spoken of as the two best players in the history of the game, this man had it all, flair, speed, technique, skills, and the Hand of God. But who cares about that goal when he scored a brilliant solo goal against England in the same game? The man everybody loves to hate (at least over here) but nobody could doubt his talent. Arguably the best player the game has ever seen.. Diego Maradona
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 On behalf of King Cucaracha Quite possibly the best French player of all time, the man who some claim started the invasion into the English game, but no matter what anybody says, nobody could deny the sublime skill and energy he bought over to our game.. the man who did the unthinkable and swapped the shirt of the (at the time) might Leeds United for Manchester United.. The King of Old Trafford.. King Eric.. Eric Cantona
