Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Oh yeah you can draft actors, actresses, and directors, from past or present, dead or alive.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Alright good enough for me, everything is set, Kahran Ramsus can make his selection.
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Alright. I get my favourite actor of all-time. Â Â Eight time Academy Award nominee, Peter O'Toole!
PILLS! PILLS! PILLS! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008  Stanley Kubrick  I hope you die in your sleep.   /trots over to his Kubrick box set with arms flailing and tears forming in his eyes
RonL21 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Figured I start with a great director  Steven Speilberg
Nighthawk Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I hope you die in your sleep.  /trots over to his Kubrick box set with arms flailing and tears forming in his eyes   Sorry!  But I think you guys are suckas for not taking your directors right out of the gate. The pool is much smaller. But I do think the directors/actors ratio makes this one of the more interesting drafts to come up long after I thought the concept was dead (proved me wrong!).
Ravenbomb Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 The pool is smaller, yes, but it's not so small that I won't be able to get one of my top director picks on my next turn.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Can I still get in on this? Â No, anyway my pick... Â My personal favorite director of all time, Â Spike Lee Â
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 But I think you guys are suckas for not taking your directors right out of the gate. The pool is much smaller. But I do think the directors/actors ratio makes this one of the more interesting drafts to come up long after I thought the concept was dead (proved me wrong!). Â It is smaller, but you only need five. I think that may end up being easier than getting 30 great actors. Speilberg & Kubrick were always going to be first rounders. I knew when I made my pick that they wouldn't be available to me later.
Exslade ZX Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 It says I can, pick 5 directors, but do I have to? Can I take 35 actors if I want? Or say 34 actors, and 1 director?
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 It says I can, pick 5 directors, but do I have to? Can I take 35 actors if I want? Or say 34 actors, and 1 director? Â No. You have to select 5 directors, or else it will derail the draft and people will start doing whatever they want.
foleyfanforever88 Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I really don't know much about directors, but I guess I should pick one (or in this case, two..if it's legit) now before every one I've heard of is gone. I'm very much a comedy guy, and even though these guys have had a few big flops, they directed two of my favorite comedies (Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary). I choose   The Farrelly Brothers
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I would count that as one pick since they always direct movies together.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 They are counted as one because of as the reason Kahran said.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Clint Eastwood, Director
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Clint Eastwood, Director  And not actor?
Kahran Ramsus Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 He's a better director than actor, IMO.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 Hmmm this brings up an interesting debate, I think that if you draft an actor/director it should count as both since many directors cast themselves in movies. Â Look for example my director, Spike Lee... Some of his best movies had him in one of the lead roles or supporting roles. Â But really it's up to everyone else, what do you guys want to do about this?
Brett Favre Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I think we should stick to either director or actor just not to clutter up the draft and mess up who has picks left and whatnot.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 Perhaps allow one combo guy/gal per person? Â edit: Oh and I'd take Eastwood easily for the Dirty Harry series or the Man with No Name series as well as Unforgiven and a few other films.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 I like the one combo per person thing. If I have to choose though, I'll take Clint as the director rather than as an actor.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted August 29, 2008 Report Posted August 29, 2008 My pick: Al Pacino (actor)
