Now is it supposed to be "real" and how he has to win his matches to get on top (ie every wrestling movie made), or will not have any kayfabe in it?

No. It's pretty much presented in a realistic fashion. From what the original script showed, they acknowledge how the business is worked and Randy "The Ram" Robinson doesn't work his way back to the top in a typical movie format.

So he'll work his way back on top by busting his ass and showing he still has the goods?

I hope you're right because if this is kayfabe, I want nothing to do with it.

Everyone has said it's not kayfabe.

Is this playing near anyone this weekend? I searched on Hollywood.com and there aren't any showings 50 miles of Southampton.

I guess I'll have to wait until the torrent gets released.

16 screens at our theatre here and its not even going to be on even one of them for 1 show...yet they've got a screen showing Delgo 5 times. I have never even heard of that, and when I searched about it I pulled up this tidbit:

"Delgo received the title of "Worst Wide Release Opening Ever" by only earning $511,920 on 2,160 screens. That is equal to about an average of only two viewers per showing site"

Mojo doesn't say anything about where it's going to be playing in the future. At the moment it's in a grand total of four theaters, two in LA and two in NYC. Does anyone know if it's getting any kind of wider distribution, or are we gonna have to just wait for the online bootleg DVD release?
It's only opening in NY and LA at the moment

Delgo did not have the worst wide release opening ever, that belongs to Proud American.
Bob, does it make me less of an American if I have to wait for the DVD to be released to see that movie? Closest it was playing was 90 minutes away and for some reason, I couldn't convince anyone to drive.

Open question; will the greatness of this movie make up for the crappiness of Ready To Rumble, No Holds Barred, and The Wrestler (Ed Asner and Verne Gagne '70s movie)?

While the 1970s movie The Wrestler is in kayfabe it's fun stuff in terms of being a document of the early 70s AWA scene. The whole idea of a World Series of Wrestling back then with the WWWF, AWA, and NWA champions appearing was a cool concept.

And yes, I am definitely interested in seeing this new movie once it expands to my area.

Yeah, The Wrestler ('70s movie) is one of those movies that isn't all that great (it isn't as terrible as the other movies I mentioned thought- just kind of mediocre) but it has a couple of really cool scenes. Sadly, I'd say at this point, obviously not having seen this current Wrestler, it's probably the best wrestling movie. Night and The City is an awesome movie but I just can't call it a wrestling movie.

I might go so far as to say I liked "The Wrestler" better than "Night and the City." It's been a while since I've seen the latter, so I may need to rewatch it, but as it stands, I like "The Wrestler" better.
