brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2008 My DVR is having some problems playing back recorded programs, so I might be needing a new unit. Can the company transfer my recorded programs to my new unit?
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2008 I don't think you can right now, but supposedly a lot of cable companies are considering doing away with storing shows on boxes and setting up individual services on their systems for customers to store programming, meaning you won't need an actual DVR capable box, it would work with any box they provide. I'm sorry, I know that doesn't help you right now, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2008 They also have the usb ports and such that are marked "For Future Use." I imagine that they wwill allow you to take the shows off your DVR and put them on your computer, without advertising that fact due to copyright issues or whatever. Markme123 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 With a TiVo, at least, you can transfer them to a computer, then stream it back on the TiVo using their Home Media Center (or something) software. The media would be stored in the computer, though.
