Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 Yeah, this game rules especially if you're not a fan of one of the teams so your emotions don't get involved. Or if you are a fan and you can physically feel your blood pressure rising. It may be time for Mrs. Tremendous to move the breakable items into another room. Bored 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 I may be rooting for the Rays but even I'm wondering why Beckett was left in the game that long.
strummer 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 No idea why Francona left Beckett in that long. The Rays were sitting on his breaking stuff
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 If it wasn't for that wild pitch this game would fuckin be over already
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 As someone who was flipping back and forth between the Canucks game....this game is SLOW.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 (edited) I really, really hope that Mike Timlin is just keeping loose because he's the LAST guy I want to see in this game. EDIT: Oh fuck that call with a spiked dildo. Edited October 12, 2008 by KingPK

KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 (edited) This is mostly on Beckett stubbornly trying to bust guys inside even though he has nothing on his fastball right now and they end up launching them into the seats. Kinda reminded me of an old Pedro start. Lester is now the true ace of the staff. I don't know why Papelbon didn't go out for the 11th; it's not like he hasn't gone 2 innings before and there's an off day. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 I'll say this about the Red Sox...their games certainly don't lack drama. I'm glad the Rays won since they would have been toast facing Lester in game 3 already down 2-0. Now they can afford to take a probable loss there, come back strong against Wakefield in game 4 (I think he's still starting?) and then game 5 becomes huge. All the Rays really need to do is get 1 game in Boston somehow and get it back to St. Pete.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 We were watching the latter stages of the game at a bar last night. I went next door to another bar that has an outdoor area. After about a half hour, I see my one Red Sox fan friend walk out of the bar and almost instantly get a text from another friend next door saying the Rays won. Awesome. My buddy's one of those "I'm going to rub your face in my team's success" fans. Beckett looked awful, though. He's one of the few players I despise, so it was good viewing. Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 It really bothers me that they are playing this game in the middle of the day. I hope that someday MLB figures out how to schedule games so that both coasts can watch.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 What would you suggest they do?
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 What would you suggest they do? 7ET start times. Even with a three or four hour game, most east coasters should be able to stay up. West coasters will miss the first hour or so, but it seems like a fair compromise to me.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 It really bothers me that they are playing this game in the middle of the day. I hope that someday MLB figures out how to schedule games so that both coasts can watch. If they start at 8, it's too late for many East Coast fans. Today is a day off for a lot of the country, so a day game is perfect. 7 p.m. is 4 p.m. on the West Coast when many people are still at work.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 13, 2008 I prefer this to doing both games late. Having just been on the west coast, I really need to say FUCK 8:37PM local start times. Start the games when the host team would normally start an afternoon or evening game.

the max 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 I think they should play all games at an undisclosed time and release them on the internet for people to watch at their leisure. People complained (myself included) at the stupid 830 start time for the games in Tampa, games ending around midnight or later, etc. Now we get an afternoon game on a federal holiday, which will let me get to bed at a reasonable hour and there's something wrong with that too? sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2008 7ET start times. Do you play both games simulataneously? Or just make the Philly fans stay up way late because their team is playing on the west coast tonight?

Guest Smues Report post Posted October 13, 2008 What would you suggest they do? 7ET start times. I'm fine with that, but only for the east coast games. If the game is in LA start it at 7PST. Or do a day game and do 1PST. Either way.
