I was saying that I'm trying to breathe since I'm freaking over Luongo getting hurt.

Looks like he was trying to do a butterfly and just tweaked something. Curtis Sanford FTW?

TSN.ca slapped an article together somewhere between Barron's posts:

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo left in the first period of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an apparent left leg injury. Luongo made a pad save but immediately fell down to the ice and could not get up. He was helped off the ice after a lengthy visit by trainers.

Yikes.

The more I watch the Bruins, the more I'm appreciating: Marc Savard's passing abilities (He seems to have a knack for hitting the open hole in front of the net), the overall ability of Krejcie (sp?) including the patience to wait for the 3 on 1 advantage rather than attacking 1-1, and the ability of the team as a whole to both use the boards for passing lanes and turn the puck over in the neutral zone.

As Max will tell you, Savard's been my boy for years. That could be in jeopardy pending the result of tonight's game. However, keeping my Hab bias in check, I'd really like to see Bergeron, Kessel, Lucic, and Kreicji* play more.

*I'm not sure how to spell it either.

I also really really like the new HNIC theme, more and more each time I see it. The opening with the graphics is fantastic, and it's pretty nice to see Linden and Fleury immortalized, given their "cult favourite" type of status.

These Ottawa 3rd sweaters are decent, but would be better if they had the logo on them, rather than 'Sens'. Better than the Lightning ones I've seen, though, that say 'Bolts' on the front.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think they're ugly as hell. The worst of the 3 choices that were released to the newspapers here.

Didn't the Senators design a new two-dimensional logo? It's not used anywhere, but I know they made it.

Canadian friends with WGN: since you get Channel 9 as opposed to America, do you have tonight's Blackhawks-Leafs game?

And ahhhhh! The Harold Ballard uniforms have emerged on Wendel Clark Night! Bad bad bad!

That Roy ceremony had a funeral atmosphere to it. Roy couldn't wait to get out, the fans were tired of applauding as the number was raised and Roy was gone about two minutes after raising the banner. He's probably on his way home right now.

Is anyone else (besides the obvious 2) watching bob_barron's team vs. Czech's team in game 1 of this week's Head Nigga In Charge? So far, Toronto's tearing down the Bulin wall.

I don't care about either team, but I'm trying to expand my horizons past the Kings and their regular opponents. I'm not often home on Saturdays, but I am tonight so I figured I should watch the game. Detroit/Calgary is game 2, but the Kings play the Avalanche at that time.

Down 2-0 isn't really "tearing down the Bulin wall" considering this team's capacity to give up, like, 6, while scoring 6, so that they can get pantsed in a shootout. It's just mediocre, by Hawks goaltending standards. There's enough firepower on this team to get back in it, and I'm not sure the Leafs are all that good. It's a should-win, definitely, but Khabibulin and Huet are both so crappy. I'm Anti-bad goaltending: Antti Niemi!

Barron has three favorite hockey teams. It's surprising you two can't get along.

EDIT: 3-0 now, yeah, they're done, those frauds. Are they going to get shut out by Toskala? I don't have time for this snake oil horseshit.

Really? Barron has 3 favorite teams? I suspected something was up when he talked up how thrilling that that Rangers game was. Bob kept claiming he "owned" me in the argument and that I "wasn't a true fan". Considering neither of us won the argument since it was based on opinion, I thought that was ridiculous enough, but at least my 2 teams in each sport (except hockey) are in different conferences/leagues). I'd better not hear another word from him on the subject.

The Leafs tend to play better on Saturdays (last week notwithstanding), which I guess is good, since it's the only time I've really been paying much attention to their games this season.

Yeah, Barron has purported to root for the Canucks, Maple Leafs, and Devils.

Hey, look at that. Patrick Sharp is doing everything himself, which is extremely gracious of him.

The Leafs tend to play better on Saturdays

If you take away all their non-Saturday losses they'd be in first?

My bounty on either of the Kostitsyn sisters is now up to 1,000 (ONE THOUSAND) dollars. I've never seen players so quick to drop at the slightest amount of contact. Savard made a feather touch on one of the ladies' gloves and she dropped like she'd been shot. $1,000. I'm buying a house, guys. I don't have that kind of money, but I will send it.

Not really. Chicago was just playing flat, and the Leafs got some good chances.

The Devils thing was a youthful indiscretion, I haven't cared for them in forever. I remember the past two Cup runs, I just remember not caring about wins or losses. It was more because I hated the Rangers as a kid. We all do stupid things as a kid.

I suspected something was up when he talked up how thrilling that that Rangers game was.

They were playing the Canucks, you stupid fuck.

Bob kept claiming he "owned" me in the argument and that I "wasn't a true fan

No, I did, since you quit on your team in the 6th inning, which I would never do. In fact, my optimism toward all things my teams has caused me to get laughed at many times.

I thought that was ridiculous enough, but at least my 2 teams in each sport (except hockey) are in different conferences/leagues).

You like the Bulls and the Lakers! Shut up! You suck so much.

I'd better not hear another word from him on the subject

Or else!

Disappointing loss tonight. I swear I've seen the Leafs blow more three goal leads than anyone. The strategy of "Let the Hawks get past the blue line because we'll just clear it" really doesn't work. Just a poor game.

They do seem to get up more for Saturday games, and they also had four days off. And they still can't win!

Bulls: Eastern Conference

Lakers: Western Conference

You fail. Again. And funny how the whole argument was about how you can't like 2 teams in one sport, which this thread has proven you do, thus nullifying your entire argument. So you throw in something that doesn't even pertain to the discussion at hand to try to prove a point. Just give it up, as I suggested over a month ago. You're acting like a child.

Bulls: Eastern Conference

Lakers: Western Conference

They faced off in the 1991 NBA finals, and had a rivalry during that time and won 9 out of 11 NBA Titles during that span. You can't like both. The Leafs and Canucks have some common ground, but if they ever met in the Cup finals or became huge rivals, I'd probably have to choose.

And funny how the whole argument was about how you can't like 2 teams in one sport, which this thread has proven you do, thus nullifying your entire argument.

No, that wasn't my argument at all. I only like two teams in one sport, which happens to be my favourite and the one I'm obsessed about it. You like two teams in every sport, and it seems like you conveniently happened into pop into discussions about some teams during the playoffs.

So you throw in something that doesn't even pertain to the discussion at hand to try to prove a point.

It does pertain to the discussion. You like two of the most storied NBA teams- it'd be like being a fan of the Cowboys and the Steelers, and if someone was, they should be punched in the mouth.

Just give it up, as I suggested over a month ago. You're acting like a child.

Funny, given that you brought my name up!

Goooood win for the Brooooons. 12-1-1 last 14. 7 point division lead.

I'm glad Lucic didn't stoop to Laraque's level and take himself out of the game. He scored the first goal and had nine hits. Let Laraque follow him around and try to get an appointment for a future fight. The more Laraque played, the less time actual talented players saw. WTG Carbonneau.
