Psycho Penguin 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Here's a list of the outside looking in bowl eligible teams... Quite a lot of teams can clinch bowl eligible spots with victories this week. ACC: Virginia (5-5), Clemson (4-5), and Duke (4-5) Big 12: Colorado (5-5), Kansas State (4-6), and Texas A&M (4-6) Big East: Louisville (5-6) and Rutgers (4-5) Big 10: Illinois (5-5) and Wisconsin (5-5) Conference USA: Houston (5-4), Memphis (5-5), Marshall (4-5), UTEP (4-5), and Southern Miss (4-6) MAC: Akron (5-6), Bowling Green (5-5), and Northern Illinois (5-6) Mountain West: Colorado State (4-6) Pac 10: Stanford (5-5) SEC: Vanderbilt (5-4), Mississippi (5-4), Auburn (5-5), and Arkansas (4-6) Sun Belt: UL Lafayette (5-4), Florida International (4-5), Arkansas State (4-5), and Florida Atlantic (4-5) WAC: Nevada (5-4), Louisiana Tech (5-4), Hawaii (5-5), and Fresno State (5-4) Clemson needs to win out because 2 of their wins came against FCS and only one counts. They're fucked. Duke has a slightly better chance right now, believe it or not. Vandy's never going to get to a bowl, are they?
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 I know this is a little late, but I was driving to work this morning and listening to one of the talking heads on ESPN Radio. He was going on again about how it would be unfair to vote OU higher than Texas in the BCS if they finished in a 3-way tie with Texas Tech. This argument still makes no sense because people completely discount Texas Tech beating Texas and the fact that OU would've beaten Tech in that argument. Guest Smues Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Navy is giving ND quite the scare with under 2 minutes left in the game. I will be COMPLETELY shocked if they somehow actually pull this off, with the score 27-7 with like 1:43 left they scored to make it 27-14, recovered the onside kick, then in one play put it in the endzone, which is about to be reviewed and called back, but the question is was he out of bounds or at the 1. Assuming he's at the 1 and they score ont he next play they'll have to kick off with 1:15 or so. Nice little comeback, but I just don't see them getting a 2nd straight onside kick recovery. Weis has got to be shitting bricks though. Edit: And the ruling is that he was in bounds, so a quick touchdown would keep them alive. And they fail to get the ball into the endzone and have to burn a timeout, they're last.
Guest Smues Report post Posted November 15, 2008 27-21 Navy. 1:21 left and now it all comes down to another on-side kick. Has a team ever recovered two in a row? I can't recall seeing it myself. If Navy had 3 timeouts I guess they'd have a slight chance of a 3 and out if they fail, but without that this is still going to take a miracle.
Guest Smues Report post Posted November 15, 2008 HOLY SHIT NAVY RECOVERED!!!!!!!!! But there's a flag of fuck please be on ND.

Guest Smues Report post Posted November 15, 2008 NO FLAG NAVY BALL!!!!!!! JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. So glad I decided to wait this out before I went to work. Navy down six, 1:21 with no timeouts to make it 41 yards down the field.
devo 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 If Navy pulls this off Charlie Weis might as well head straight from the stadium to Kinko's to make copies of his resume.
Guest Smues Report post Posted November 15, 2008 His resume that ends in 2006 I would hope. Damn open receiver bobbles the catch that would have put them at the 11.

Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Probably one of the dumbest plays I've ever seen as on the kickoff a South Carolina player attempted to throw the ball probably 20 yards across the field to another player who couldn't catch it and Florida recovers for a TD.
Jaxxson Mayhem 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 They shoulda given him that TD or at least put him in for a play to run it in.
Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Whoever is in charge of Norte Dame's onside kick defense should be fired. That was embarrassing. Florida's offense is just scary right now. I can't wait for the FSU game. Of course it will probably not happen given how FSU players just love to get suspended.

No. The point is the head to head cancels it all out so you have to go with whoever you think is the best really, or whatever method you use to determine it. The argument the Texas people (and some of the national media) are using for Texas to be ahead of OU in a 3-way tie is that Texas beat OU. Ok, fine you vote Texas ahead of OU. But then why would you put Texas ahead of Tech when Tech beat Texas? And then why would you put Tech ahead of OU when OU beat them in that case? See? You have to throw all the head to head games out at this point.

Kinetic 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Florida with 42 points and 421 yards of offense through 3 quarters. So much for them not having seen a defense like South Carolina's.
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 The ironic thing about this Big XII South mess, is that Texas really needs Oklahoma to win their next two games. If Tech wins next week, they clinch the division. If Oklahoma wins next week but loses in Stillwater the following week, Tech again will win the division (assuming they beat Baylor). Texas' only realistic shot at getting into the Big XII title game is for the three-way tie to happen. Rough position to be in for a team that was one second away from still being #1 with an almost clear path to the MNC game.
MFer 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 So glad I didn't go to the Michigan game today. Rough weather, first loss at home to Northwestern since '95, and a record 8 losses this season (including a record for home losses with 5) for the Wolverines. I know Michigan wasn't expected to do much this season, but this is still much worse than anyone thought it would be.
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 The Clusterfuck to Tampa continues as North Carolina loses to Maryland. For those scoring at home, Virginia Tech controlled their own destiny in the Coastal division going into Thursday, then UNC controlled theirs going into today, and now it's Miami who controls their own destiny. They play at Georgia Tech next week.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 I can't believe Oregon State is two wins away from Pasadena. Assuming they win in Tucson next week, the Civil War is going to be something to see.

Yeah, but that still sucks for Texas because OU is ahead of them in the coaches poll and not far behind in the BCS overall. They'll get a huge push for beating #2 Texas Tech and #15 or whatever OSU. I think Texas is in a bad situation overall for the Big XII title game. So let's say the Big XII south champ loses to Mizzou in the title game. Then who do you put in the national title game? USC is next in line according to the BCS, but we always here you can't put a team that didn't win their conference into the title game. What if they don't win their conference? Then what? This whole thing has the potential to turn into a bigger clusterfuck than last season. And it was looking like the QB of the Big XII south winner was going to win the Heisman, but Tebow is making a late push.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 Stanford has over 100 rushing yards in the 1st quarter and they're leading 7-3 and have a huge TOP advantage? Stanford is an improved team, I remember a game a few years ago Stanford destroyed USC for a half and should have won, and USC can't crush non-great teams outside of Washington. I expect a dogfight. Bored 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 WTF: Troy 24, LSU 3 halfway thru the 2nd quarter. And for STANFORD~ those two big kick returns in the first half were killers as they really dominated the Trojans but only came away with a tie at the half and now it's coming back to haunt them. Bored 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 Oregon is in danger of blowing a 31 point lead against Arizona. They were up 48-17 with under five minutes left in the 3rd quarter and it's now 48-45 with six minutes to go. USC goes up 31-17 now. Oh well, it'll be the much sweeter to beat Cal to become bowl eligible.
