Yeah, this potential victory is the only thing the Packers have left to play for.

How does this win get them closer to a championship, though? It's a meaningless game. Don't pretend it's not. Meaningless game for the Bears next week if the score holds. I don't give a shit if they "finish on a high note" or "look encouraging" or any of that unquantifiable nonsense. Loser mentality. Might as well tank it and move up in the draft.

Inferior Adrian Peterson helping out Superior Adrian Peterson there.

If they've lost, they must not be the best. This season was a learning experience and breaking in the new-look, young Packers.

They have the best record against division opponents, so I'd say that makes them better than the other teams in the division. One of those losses, the one to the Vikings, they lost by 1 point. They've had 5 losses by 4 points or less, games in which one play could have swung the result the other way. Though, to be fair, the Bears have lost a lot of close games, too. Still, if the Packers win this one, they clinch the best record vs. divisional opponents in the NFC North.

Matt Young poked his head in this thread... that means the Packers must be close to a championship

As I said before when people criticized me for not posting in threads during regular season games, I hardly get to see any Packers, Bulls, or White Sox games here. Hard to comment when I can't watch.

Czech, I never said anything about them being close to a championship. Does it mean anything as far as the end result of their season? No. But a victory over a division rival is satisfying, regardless of circumstance.

You got no pride, Butkus and Ditka would pound your ass for this kind of menstrual man thinking.

There's no way this team is going to beat Detroit next week. God damn. What the fuck.

Thanks a lot, Packers

I'm getting 2003 flashbacks now

You guys should've known by the last game we had that if the game is tied or close in the final minute, the 2008 Packers are pretty much doomed.

Well, now that the ecstasy has worn off, they still only have a 25% chance of making the playoffs, and if they do, they have a 95% chance of having a crappy offense. Matt Forte and Alex Brown, though. Man.

EDIT: I feel weird about this now. They could go 10-6 and miss. That'll suck a lot.

The Packers losing to the Lions next week as time expires would be the ultimate low point in a season full of heartbreaking losses. So yeah, it'll happen.

Oh, I'm rooting for the Packers now. They can't get discouraged here. Ensure the perfect season.

It won't happen, I assure you. The Lions almost beat the Packers last time, thanks to Jon Kitna throwing 2 touchdowns for Green Bay it didn't happen. We haven't won a game since we dominated the Bears back in Week 10, and every game outside of the New Orleans game has been lost by 4 points or less.

I wonder if the fans are really all going to be calling for McCarthy and Thompson's head if we lose that one. 5-11, with the final loss to a winless team. No way, I don't think my sports psyche can handle that, but the almost certain pessimism we cheeseheads have grown accustomed to the past month and a half is certainly going to at least soften the blow if it does indeed happen.

The Lions are really really bad, though, so at least there's that. DSB, man. If the Lions do win, I would call a Mike McCarthy firing justified.

I concur. John Kitna ain't walking through those doors on Sunday. It'll be old whatshisface. The Packers are crappy enough to make it a close game but not enough to lose. I was eating crayons and listening to Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em on a daily basis the last time The Lions won at Lambeau.

They're also crappy enough to make it a close game with everyone they've played except for Dallas and New Orleans, including Tennessee and Carolina.

EDIT: Did I just whoosh myself?
