mysterious_w replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I guess he managed to upload the Jericho segment to Vidilife but forgot to tell us. Here's the link. http://www.vidilife.com/video_play_1041332..._Chris_Beno.htm -

And he marks out for German Suplexes. -
Will this event suffer the same fate as Over the Edge 99? Because I quite enjoyed it and was thinking about getting it on DVD.

I guess the assmuption you're trying to make is that Benoit had alcohol problems. If the trash hadn't been cleared since he arrived home on Wednesday from SD tapings, then he had 5 days to drink 10 cans. 3 or so a night is not problematic, and half of those cans could easily have been Nancy's. -
Much appreciated. Good match, starts off slow (I thought it was going to end that way too seeing as it's a fancam at what looks like a house show), but they bust out some good shit at the end. I forgot what Foley's like with knees that work. He actually climbs to the top turnbuckle at one point, and even steps straight up from the mat to the second turnbuckle

The best we could hope for is the 10 day breaks I mentioned. WWE is a business, they aren't going to stop running any shows as it would bring down revenue, and they have to think about the shareholders. But having a couple of guys off every week would not really impact at all and may benefit the WWE if the breaks let the wrestlers clear their heads and help them cope better with life on the road.

He served in World War 1 though so it is likely. Plus he may have killed his mistress/wife before commiting suicide. -

Steve Corino. True. Oddly enough I was also thinking about some ECW guys. I've never heard of any shit from Tommy Dreamer or Balls Mahoney, and despite Sandman's fondness for drink, he has struck me recently as someone else who's solid. -

I agree. But at the same time, killing someone with your finishing wrestling movie is ironically hilarious. Not that it's not wrong, because it is. But man. I'm sorry but the image alone...it's like something someone would write into a bad B movie. I was thinking that myself actually. Anytime in the next 10 years, if anyone is shameless and heartless enough, they can achieve nuclear heat (And by that I mean shit getting thrown into the ring, threats of violence outside of the arena) just by locking on that move. And if anyone did do that, I'd be one of those fans threatening to kick in the douchebag after the show. -

Anyone know who that guy was? Is there anyone who we can really respect in this business anymore? The guys without ego's or drug problems who are just in the business for the love of it? Because there's only a couple who I can respect completely in my mind now. -
I'm not sure an offseason would ever work, but the WWE needs to give guys more time off. If you're not in the ME picture, there's no harm in not being on TV (and skipping that week's tour) once or twice a year. Those 10 day breaks could do so much.

Burke should have won personally. Have Burke win, beat Nitro at the GAB and in a rematch at Summerslam, then have Punk win the belt at Unforgiven. Why? Because the WWE currently does not have an epic feud. By that I mean 2 guys who always seem to meet at least once a year and have excellent matches, trading wins back and forth. Think Angle and Benoit, Kawada and Misawa etc. Punk and Burke are the 2 most ideal candidates for such a feud, and if the WWE built it up right, they could always run a Punk-Burke match at any given PPV for a sure-fire draw when Creative is running low on ideas.

My computer's been broke since Sunday, so I only found out about Benoit's death on Tuesday afternoon. It sure made watching Vengeance a little odd, especially seeing as it was probably the best PPV of the year, yet it will forever be tainted. At the moment I really don't know what to think about Benoit. What he did was horrific in so many ways, it is possibly one of the worst crimes I've heard about since I've been born. There is no excuses for anything he did, and in my mind no way to condone any of the 3 deaths. You know, I was going to debate in this post whether I could watch Benoit's work and enjoy it. But that issue is so minute, that I feel slightly ashamed for even thinking about it. -
You're all under the opinion that it was the stress of the wrestling business that broke Benoit. Maybe it was the thing that kept him together until a couple of days ago.

I've been buying lots of old-school ECW dvd's lately, and Woman always impressed me. Sexy while keeping it classy, and seemed to have an excellent eye for the business.

For a long time I've wondered how much wrestlers make. After the WWE salary figures got leaked it cleared up some of the picture, but those guys are on yearly contracts plus there's probably all sorts of extras with merch and PPV appearances. What I'm wondering is how much an indy wrestler will make in a match, from the very top in ROH, to lesser-known but still pretty big groups such as CHIKARA and JAPW, right down the little scummy promotions that run the odd show and that's it. Obviously with non of us being wrestlers it's all gonna be hear-say and guesswork, but I'd still like to know more on the matter.
-
If I ever become a wrestler, I would completely keep up kayfabe in outside life, it's an integral part of the business. Obviously I woulnd't go as far as cracking someone if they called me a fake, but I wouldn't just blurt out how it was scripted.
-
I played Maple Story, grindfest of all grindfests. Put me off the genre, which is probably a good thing.
-
I'm famaliar with 9 out of the 10 wrestlers here, and this could be an amazing tournament. It's annoying that's there's no Danielson/Richards matches or the Kenta/Ishimori - Brisoces match is on TV, but the 2 briscoe matches that are on should be brilliant.
-
That's the thing, he got almost 17 minutes at JD, that should have been his time to really impress me and everyone else with what he can do. He was given the stage, the time, and a very capable worker in Elijah Burke, yet he didn't do anything out of the ordinary.
-
Aside from Punk, what about the Dreamer ankle injury? My amuteur lip-reading skills seem to suggets he said something like "It's broke" to the ref after the match.
-
So you think Armstrong wasn't doing a good job as a Ref because he was doing his job of doing the shoulder check? Did you not watch any of the old NWA days, there refs did that all the time. Ref's should check the shoulders most of the time as it makes the matches seem more realistic. Armstrong did his job as a ref correctly the entire match. It's all about getting the balance right between portraying it as a sport and portraying it as entertainment. I think the ref got that balance wrong last night. Does anyone else think that CM Punk has underperformed since coming to WWE? I haven't seen his ROH stuff but when he was coming in all I was hearing was how he was one of the top workers in America full stop. I mean he's good, but he ahsn't had any classic matches in a year in WWE, and in his match against Burke at JD I thought Burke looked better.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

Yeah it was Rodimer. And fuck dude, put down the meth pipe. -
Bit of an odd request this, but does anyone have any Owen Hart matches which are suspected to be one of the comedy ones he did just to get a laugh out of the other wrestlers (Mentioned in Foley's 1st autobiography)? In return I'll link you to my Youtube profile where I have uploaded some cool shit (including the Marufuji / Ishimori match from this month) http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=mysteriousw

I care less about logic when the potential for an amazing match up is there.
