I find myself skipping through some albums just because I get addicted to a couple of songs. They're not overlong, I'm just weak.

Just about all the songs on XTC's Go 2 (~!) have decent new waves tunes with absolutely horrendous lyrics. I shan't print them. they rarely even make sense.

Yes, Residents albums are going to be easier to get because of the mute deal. Start with Duck Stab, and in addition to those mentioned, I would recommend the Commercial album (a top 40 of one minute jingles). Play in shuffle mode and create your own chart! But of course, I love pretty much all their stuff and am slightly biased.

1965 is pretty damn good, though I haven't heard it in ages. I never hear anyone here talk about Yellow Magic Orchestra, who did a lot more for tehno and electronica than Kraftwerk. Get Solid State Survivor. Sounds like the music from Sonic the Hedgehog, and in fact the game's main programmer admitted Ryuichi Sakamoto of YMO as a big influence.

He just lifts the chorus for his song, 'Tom Traubert's Blues'. But yeah, that's on my list.

He's always had a deliberate sense of self-parody under the surface, and that's largely the concept of this album. He's got strong views but he does have a sense of humour. Plus he loves sparks, diplomatic immunity right there.

Sorry, I like music is all, and I think blatently watered down derivative music that only gets coverage because it's cool is an insult to people who work for a living. Jet.org should be a non-profit organisation, then they wouldn't bother me quite as much. On second thoughts, they probably would.

Another 'awesome' here. I've never understood any critique I've heard of them. As mentioned in the 'long albums' thread, I normally don't listen to the kinds of bands that put out 80 minute albums, but Lateralus is one of the few I will always make time for.

Some albums feel long at 50 minutes, nevermind 80. On the other hand, I can listen to tool. RFTC's Live from Camp X-Ray is a 26 minute studio album, and the length feels about spot on.

Back to Gang of Four now, 5.45. For Leeds scum, these guys are pretty fantastic.

Television - Elevation It'll be interesting to see how they fare at glasto. I shall be wasted, so it'll be a very chilled out lovin experience, I predict.

I'm not too keen on I'm not Sorry or I have forgiven Jesus, and yes it is a tad overproduced. The b sides from Irish Blood, English Heart were better than most of the album, (Munich Air Disaster 1958, The Neverplayed Symphonies, It's hard to walk tall when you're small) but as with all Morrissey's stuff, I just tend to fall in love with at least one bit of each song, even if I hate another. He's a law unto himself.

You bastard. But yeah, the video is good.

That Rutles film is very well made, and Neil Innes' somgwriting is pretty clever. Still listening to Solid Gold.

1. Absolutely fucking wonderful. 2. Really quite very good. 3. One of the few good songs on that album, but still pretty cheesy. I wasn't hugely keen on You Are The Quarry at first, but it's grown on me with every listen. No Vauxhall and I, but it removed Keane from the number 1 album spot, so it will forever have a place in my heart.
