At any cold weather NFL game, there's always half a dozen drunk fat dudes in the first five rows with B-R-O-W-N-S or B-E-A-R-S painted on them in dog masks and shit. American football uses beer for a scarf.
Incidentally, I saw part of some program profiling the rise of neo-nazi sentiment among european football leagues. Particularly in Italy and Spain, I think. Some Spanish coach called some other player a "black shit," and all this other rotten stuff. You ever see anything like that, or was the show blowing a few isolated assholes out of proportion?
I've not seen anything that bad in the UK, but I don't go to games that often. It's much rarer in Britain than the rest of Europe, definitely. The incident you're referring to was a comment from the Spanish national coach about Theirry Henry. Spain and Italy have a shambolic record of crap like that and there's a lot going on to try and stop it, or so we're told by the regulation bodies. A guy who used to play for my team who's now in Italy acknowledged the Neo-nazis in the crowd with a Hitler salute when he scored, later defending his actions with the gem 'I'm a fascist, but I'm not a racist'. Not every club has an openly fascist section of their fanbase though. There certainly needs to be programmes about it.
