  1. Thank you. I'm glad someone else can see through that tired, flimsy excuse.
  2. It's the entertainment media's fault then, for depicting joyrides and police chases as wild and exciting. No, seriously, fuck 'em. Better that they don't get another chance to kill someone on the road other than themselves.
  3. That's assuming that he will win the Title. Who's to say that this isn't yet another example of feeding a hot talent to Triple H in order to cement his "legendary status"? All I know is I can feel the disappointment already once I see Benoit appear on RAW. Sure, this reeks of smark pessimism and cynicism, but Vince and Co. haven't exactly engendered much else in recent history.
  4. Yep, jester hit the nail right on the head. If Benoit settles for the RAW title, it will mean significantly less than if he had stuck to his guns and fought tooth and nail for one more title shot against Lesnar. Marks and smarks alike would see it as a complete acceptance of failure.
  5. I hope they don't have anyone pulling double duty at RR; i.e., Flair defending his tag belt and competing in the Rumble. All it does is keep active wrestlers on the sidelines yet again, causing more morale problems. Sure, guys like Paul London and Lance Storm have no chance at staying in the Rumble for long, but at least they're getting some much needed TV exposure. Plus, they get paid more for PPV appearances, if I'm not mistaken.
  6. Still on the first page...
  7. Any result that isn't "Brock destroys Holly, pins Holly decisively, and retains the WWE Title" doesn't deserve to see the light of day.
  8. Blame Lucas, normally you would do a retake. Why blame Lucas? He didn't direct ROTJ. Actually, that screw-up was from Episode IV, which Lucas did direct. So it would be his fault.
  9. JYD's Thump Slam was more of a "walking" over-the-shoulder powerslam, as opposed to DBS's "running" powerslam. Seriously, JYD would take one step and then seemingly just fall over with the guy under him. Luckily he had his charisma to fall back on.
  10. From what I remember, the Garvin Stomp was just a spot... I don't remember him using it as a finisher. Sometimes he used it to set up his submission move... can't remember if it was a sharpshooter or Texas cloverleaf.
  11. Maybe if he gorilla-pressed the guy before using that falling slam in one fell swoop, it would look a little more impressive. Of course, I don't know if that many wrestlers would trust him enough to do that, considering how stiff the guy seems to work.
  12. Same here, although I've only had mine for a little over two years. I do the same thing when I turn it off, and it's been peachy keen. I even store it standing up in a little space between my TV and the wall of my wall unit, and it always starts up and shuts down with no problems. It really comes down to taking care of it and perhaps not using it so often, which I don't. That said, I'll probably break it when I finally open and start playing the SD!:HCTP I got this Christmas. Lord knows I get down-right obsessive when I start playing a new game. And this one seems to be no exception.
  13. Don't worry. Jindrak and Cade will never get over.
  14. The typo IDrink is talking about, Mole, is the misspelling of "Mercury" in your Family Guy quote. And I would tone down the hyperbole; that quote is nowhere in the vicinity of "funniest quotes of all time". Not only that, it's not a movie quote, so it has no place in this thread. Carry on.
  15. Yeah, I watched it again recently and laughed after I saw Mr. White gaff on the lighter. Played it off like a pro, but come on, Keitel, you're not fooling anyone.
  16. Anyway, this whole thing is yet another episode in the continuing saga of the rebirth and subsequent re-death(?) of wCw. Not surprising, given the principles involved. What's the over/under on shoot comments for tonight's edition of RAW?
  17. Wow, I had no idea. That's pretty amusing. Memo to self: stop waiting and buy the LOTR DVDs already.
  18. If you mean the part at the beginning where he bumps his head in Bilbo's house, I think that was used to illustrate just how much taller he is than the Hobbits. Hence, no gaff, just a simple sight gag. If you're talking about another scene, I don't remember it.
  19. I agree with that 100%. I was very pleased with her new album. I have to politely disagree. I bought the album for my wife's Christmas present, and after hearing how she butchered XTC's "Sense Working Overtime", I left the room. She's cute and all, but I'm not big on princess pop. Why can't people just sing anymore?
  20. Sense Field, definitely. Each of their last three albums have topped the previous ones.
  21. The three I quote the most: Breakfast Club When Harry Met Sally Pulp Fiction Honourable mention: Any Kevin Smith film Princess Bride Swingers Sling Blade Reservoir Dogs
  22. Last night's Heat (well, what I saw of it) taught me one thing: I would rather watch Matt and Jon on TV every week than Gang Green (Jindrak and Cade). Vince, do something about it.
  23. I'm sure the psychological damage of their father kidnapping them and them shooting himself in their presence will more than make up for that. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, let alone those poor girls.
  24. I'm not sure the bookers know what they're doing with Buttplug Holly. They're trying to build him up as the hothead face seeking revenge on the evil champion, but everything he's done so far reeks of impotent heel. First he gets DQ'd last week and lays out Show with a chair. Then this week, after not putting up a lot of offense, he puts on a very heelish chair choke on Show for the tap out. Maybe they were trying for a sadistic "just desserts" thing ala Magnum TA in his I Quit match with Tully Blanchard, but there really was no buildup to it, and it just makes Holly look like a jerk. What sucks is there's no way to guage true crowd response, since SD! sweetens the sound on their broadcasts. But I'd bet that not many people were cheering Holly's antics, no matter how much of a "bad guy" Show is.
