I just don't like the bias from past winners. The Carson Palmer thing really pissed me off. I'm positive Simms, Owens, and White aren't leaving the USC guys off of their ballots and saying that it makes them sick to see them recieve votes.

Wow playing at least 1 D1-AA team will really boost your confidence! I beat up on Ark Pine Bluff at the beginning of my new season again! 101-7! 469 all purpose yards for my HB who returned 4 kicks for a TD and rushed 4 more.
-
It's still tradition though. And I really enjoy the award and see it as a big honor still.
-
After Jason White came up with two awards tonight and Leinart came up with one and Peterson, Bush, and Smith with nothing this race just got more confusing and close!
-
Well Cal didn't win any awards and USC only got one. It was pretty much a southern sweep.
-
Nevermind I got them all. I think Jason White also won best QB last year. Eli Manning won most outstanding player last year and didn't win the Heisman but White did. It's an omen! Leinart just secured his Heisman!

Jason White wins the Maxwell Award! *runs around the house chanting Boomer Sooner*
-
Well Cedric Benson wins the Doak Walker over Adrian Peterson and JJ Arrington. I'm not really upset about Peterson not getting it b/c one day he's going to have it and a Heisman more than likely. But I'm glad that Cedric Benson got some recognition finally. But Reggie Bush said "Benson is the ONLY one that deserves the award" He kind of insulted Peterson and Arrington there.

They're doing the awards show on ESPN right now. Discuss the winners. Agree? Disagree? This was a show that The Sooners cleaned up awards on last year and they only have 3 guys nominated this year. As a matter of fact the nominees look way more spread out this year. Coach of the Year: Urban Meyer(Utah) Spirit Award: Tim Frisby(South Carolina) Contribution to College FB: Vince Dooley(Georgia) Walter Camp Player of the Year: Matt Leinart(USC) Bednarik Award(best defensive player): David Pollack(Georgia) Biletnikoff Award(best reciever): Braylon Edwards(Michigan) Butkus Award(best LB): Announced on Friday Lou Groza Award(best kicker): Mike Nugent(Ohio State) Ray Guy Award(best punter): Daniel Sepulveda(Baylor) Lombardi Award(best lineman): David Pollack(Georgia) John Mackey Award(best tight end): Heath Miller(Virginia) Maxwell Award(most outstanding player): JASON WHITE(Oklahoma) Bronco Nagurski Award(most outstanding defensive player): Derrick Johnson(Texas) Davey O'Brien Award(most outstanding QB): Jason White(Oklahoma) Outland Trophy(best interior lineman): Jammal Brown(Oklahoma) Jim Thorpe Award(best defensive back): Carlos Rogers(Auburn) Doak Walker Award(best running back): Cedric Benson(Texas) *PS* How many most outstanding player awards can we have? There's the Walter Camp, Maxwell, and Heisman!

The hype around here is already reaching a fever pitch. People are calling into the radio and going wild over the Orange Bowl. People in my classes are spending tons of money on tickets and everyone is ready. This game is beinng billed as the best possible matchup of the Top 3 and people are saying it's going to be one of the best title games in recent memory. I'm just worried that it's not going to be able to live up to the hype. People are expecting a high scoring offensive showcase where White, Peterson, Leinart, and Bush all have huge games that are pleasing to watch and all 4 put up big numbers. So I am starting to get a sinking feeling all 4 of those guys will have bad games and we're going to end up with a 10-7 defensive battle.

Man how did Jason White fall off the radar at the end of the season? He led the ESPN Heisman poll for the last couple of weeks and a lot of analysts were going on about him being a two-peat. Then Leinart has a big game against a crappy ND team and everyone is suddenly in awe of Leinart. Then Leinart has an average game against UCLA. White has a pretty good game. Meanwhile Bush and Peterson have outstanding games and everyone has forgotten the body of work from the season. That's what I don't like about College FB or any of the voting. People change there opinion on a dime or based off of one play and only remember what happened recently. I'm seeing White being dropped off of ballots or shunted down to third when 2 weeks ago the same people had him leading the ballot. It makes little to no sense. And what Carson Palmer did is still petty and childish. I'm pretty sure Billy Simms, Steve Owens, and Jason White didn't leave the USC guys off of their ballots b/c it'd make them sick to see those guys get anymore votes.

Haha! Revenge on those Texas cow fuckers was sweet! I met up with them in the Cotton Bowl after their 14-13 come from behind victory against me! They scored at the end of the first half to make it 7-0. Then I scored right back before the half making it 7-7. Then with 27 seconds left I kicked a field goal putting me up 10-7. It was a defensive battle but I prevailed.

Eh I think that Jason White may work his way into a respectable role in the NFL some day. I mean the guy has the work ethic and ability to do it. And I still don't know what the hell Kiper was talking about arm strength b/c the guy can throw one hell of a deep ball. And an accurate one at that. White's biggest problem isn't really even his toughness. I mean the guy is tough. He had to be tough to play with bad knees and a broken hand and foot. It's just that I think he's made of glass and that is what will end up hurting him. He might end up one of those low draft picks that nobody thinks will do anything and then he shocks the world. Because he certainly has the ability. He just doesn't get the hype b/c of the injuries. Leinart I think will win it b/c of the hype as well. He certainly isn't the most deserving of it but I think he's gotten the most hype of everyone aside from Peterson. Oh well Leinart winning it will be good news for OU fans b/c that means the Heisman curse will inflict Leinart and Antonio Perkins and Brodney Poole will be taking a couple of his passes out of the air. Hehe. Oh yeah and while I'm at it. Jason White was on ESPN news today in Orlando. Which feels weird b/c I talked to him yesterday after class. So it's like "Wow I was just talking to that guy at school yesterday and now he's on ESPN in Orlando!" and I gotta say. He's one of the most humble guys I've met. I mean every college fan in the country that watches ESPN knows who he is and they said "We have the famous Heisman Trophy winner Jason White" and he interrupts with "I'm not famous." Then he went on about being embarassed that his name was on the water tower in his home town and that people come to his parents house to take pictures of where he lives. Though the guy interviewing him was a little clueless. He said "If you had to vote who would it be for?" and he said "I did have to vote....." "Oh you did!?!?!?" I mean this guy is a sports journalist and he doesn't know former winners get a vote? White has also stated locally on the radio that his name won't appear anywhere on his own ballot.
-
Does anyone think that Adrian Peterson actually has a shot here. I mean I think it's down to White, Leinart, Peterson and I'm hearing a lot of talk about Peterson....more than usual actually.
-
I always have like good stats with my QB's and HB's and never EVER get that damn Heisman.
-
He's only by 2 votes. I think he'll win it honestly but have you ever heard of the Heisman curse? It'd be the best thing in the world for a Sooner fan to have a USC boy win the Heisman. Jason White has already stated that he could care less about winning another Heisman trophy and that he is not going to vote himself. Meanwhile Carson Palmer says he voted for all USC guys b/c he couldn't stomach seeing an OU guy get another vote. They were talking about it on PTI and made Carson sound like a real jackass while they were at it. And that does sound like a jackass move. That's why I don't like the former guys having votes. They're all biased. Hell I know Billy Simms, Steve Owens, and Jason White are all voting for OU guys. It just seems unfair.

For some reason I feel dirty doing the sim-job on the season. It makes me feel like I didn't accomplish anything. Also does anyone else notice that when you sim it the game decides to do an injury on at least one player? I swear someone new is injured after every simmed game. Also I can do the close games but I just cannot get blown out. It frustrates me to no end when I'm helpless and getting blown out. Never really happened but it's frustrating for me to be down 2 TD's.
-
Igg you seem to be more into this than anyone. Maybe you can explain Mel Kiper Jr's comments on Jason White.
-
I didn't know where to post this so I thought I'd put it in here since this is about the Heisman Trophy canidates. Mel Kiper Jr. was just going over his draft choices and he was talking about Jason White. He said something like "White's accuracy, completion percentage, toughness, and moblility is what will make him a higher draft choice but his lack of a strong arm is what is keeping him from going in the first round." I'm sorry. I thougth the plus on White was his arm strength and the knock was his mobility and him being so injury prone.

Well OSU is actually better this season as well, even without Tony Allen. So it'd be interesting that's for sure. But I'm just waiting for OSU and Kansas to hook it up.
-
Well from the way things are looking Oklahoma State is going to run through the entire East Coast.......again. So hope Pitt doesn't draw them again.
-
I like Jack in the Box. We don't have any in Oklahoma so I go to it when I go to Texas. It reminds me of Hardee's which there are none of. Though there are rumors that there is a Hardee's in Tulsa....hmmm.....
-
I remember when OSU took Pitt out last year. I thought you were going to hang yourself. You said you wouldn't be excited about sports anymore or something like that. I take it you've forgiven Pitt for that loss.

Well I was getting frustrated b/c my players suck and I want to recruit some good ones. So I simulated the rest of my entire first season with Arkansas. The team ended up going 8-3 under simulation and finishing #3 in the SEC. Wow. And my opponent for my bowl game? Texas in the Cotton Bowl! It's rematch time!!! But seriously when I played NCAA2K4 I did nothing but win. I was never in anything except a BCS bowl. So when I first got this I started my SMU dynasty. I went to the MPC Computers bowl my first year and then went nuts and won like 4 National Titles in a row. The luster of taking your team all the way to the national title goes away when you can do it so easily. I want a couple of years of toiling away in the SEC. With Cotton Bowl and Gator Bowl visits. Maybe making it to a BCS bowl. And then it all culminates with a big National Title win around my 5th year coaching when my record is something like 47-10. As opposed to me with my SMU Dynasty being something like 60-0. Yeah I was like the greatest coach of all time. But that's not realistic. They really need a Hall of Fame in this game so I can go in it.

Well we're going to find out the finalists tonight. White, Bush, Peterson, Leinart, Benson more than likely. And I think it's pretty much a foot race between White and Leinart now.
