And I know someone said PRIDE was doing well releasing DVDs but it seems not to me. The newest DVD out is from the middleweight tourney in 05!

I was watching Bushido Vol. 1 with the Team Gracie vs. Team Japan(a cool concept btw) and they were talking about how Royce Gracie was the leader of the Gracie's. I didn't think that was true.....he's not even the best Gracie is he? And what's with all the draws on his record? I'd heard someone say he usually fights under modified rules....but I mean he'd lost most of these draws if there were judges wouldn't he? And another thing for those that have the Bushido DVD. They said that the Gracie's were trying to avenge Royce's loss to Yoshida at Shockwave but Shockwave and that fight didn't happen till after Bushido 1 and it was a draw. Bad editing and bad directing on that little part?

Does anyone think Stoops overreacted? I really don't think he did and I think it sends a good message about the program but I hear a lot of national people talking about how he just had a severe overreaction. I think what makes it worse is that Stoops said he didn't debate it or agonize at all. As soon as he heard all the facts he was like "Well no question.....they're gone." And some people are saying that it was too much. I don't think it was though.

You do realise that's a Photoshop mocked up on the Cagewarriors forum and then used in Fighters Only magazine's SPAM! back page, right? I mean, look at the torsos as they enter the water. It's cut like pinkerton scissors were used, the actual photo is from a shot taken earlier this year after Shogun had recovered from surgery. I saw a good argument about why AD would have to put up Barry Sanders type numbers to beat out Brady Quinn for Heisman: 1)Quinn plays at ND 2) ND isn't going to beat people with their defense. So Quinn is going to put up MONSTER numbers to get victories(and even losses) so that means that he's going to end up with these gigantic numbers playing at ND therefore he'd easily get the Heisman. 3) With no dominant team with completely dominant players like USC this year then the media is free to focus in on ND.

USC in the national title game? yeah right. Did anyone see the piece they did on Sportscenter where they showed how much of their offense they have to replace? Like 90% of their yards and points came from Leinart, Bush, and White.

And I think we went over it last year too. It's cool that OU is 5 because well.....they always underperform when ranked 1 or 2 under Stoops. I would've ranked them 10-15 though. They're going to be the same as last year. Inexperience O-Line and inexperienced QB. The only difference is that AD is healthy and the defense is way better.

My PRIDE collection continues to grow. I put a halt on UFC because I've seen nearly all the UFCs that are out now(through Unleashes, owning them, and renting them) so I can concnetrate on PRIDE. Today I bought Body Blow and Bushido Vol. 1. What exactly is the Bushido anyway? My PRIDE DVD collection stands at: Body Blow, Bushido 1, Critical Countdown and Total Elimination 05, Shockwave 05, Armed and Ready(PRIDE 20), Fists of Fire, and High Octane. Any recommendations? I also borrowed my friends PRIDE Legacy vol. 3 which is PRIDE 12-18. Is King of the Cage any good? I was thinking of buying some of the DVD sets. And a rules question. In PRIDE if you were to be put in a rear naked choke or triangle near the ropes and were able to power to a standing position what would be the result of running the guy through or over the ropes sending you both tumbling out of the ring? A yellow card? DQ? Nothing?

I guess Thompson was the best option at QB. He's a decent runner(hasn't shown the ability to make people miss though) and he knows the system and has been around the program for a while. Halzle just sucked. His JUCO team went 1-9 and he threw 3 picks in the spring game. Bradford is a freshman so he could develop seems how this will be Thompson's one and only year.

Looks like Paul Thompson WILL start at QB for OU.

Yes my lack of hardcore experience doesn't exactly allow me to walk-on to one of the best programs in the country. I did have a blast with my time on the rugby team. And I became a better drinker too!

I mentioned in the other thread about how Thompson wouldn't play QB because he can't throw as well as the two kids, he can run but can't make people miss, and he hasn't taken a QB snap since the beginning of last season. Anyway I just realized that the Red River Shootout got more interesting. It was going to be an experienced QB and AD(who when healthy killed texas) vs. Texas and their inexperienced QB and really good RB Jammal Charles who gashed OU last year. Now it's breaking down into a battle between AD and Charles for RB supremacy in the Big XII.

Look in the college football thread......... And Thompson probably won't play QB. He's played WR all of last season and all spring and all summer. Plus he can't throw very well and while he can take off and run fast he can't really make people miss like a good running QB should. Either true freshman Sam Bradford or JUCO transfer Joey Halzle will take over.

Stoops is a wholesome family man.......unlike Barry Switzer who ate the souls of families.

I can't see why any team would want to move to the SEC actually. It's easy to dominate the other conferences(except maybe the Big Ten but even then) but nobody dominates the SEC. If anyone moved to the SEC(OU, Miami, USC, Texas, FSU, VA Tech, Michigan, OSU) they'd be leaving somewhere where they had a huge shot at consistent domination to a place where they'd be fighting balls out every game. Anyway yeah it just seems like a joke making fun of the SEC and it's various scandals over the years.

Why would OU want to go to a conference where nobody dominates for long periods of time when they could stay in the Big 12 where they could dominate forever if they so chose? In the Big 12 they usually just have to worry about Texas. In the SEC they'd worry about everybody. The Big 12 is generally the 3rd or 4th best conference.......why jump to the 1st when you could dominate in the one you're in and win national titles? Are you sure that isn't a joke? Ya know because so many teams in the SEC have committed violations and OU has committed some in football and basketball recently?

He got better as the season went on. He's athletically gifted and more athletically gifted than Heupel, Hybl, or White could dream of being. Problem is those guys had a brain and Bomar doesn't. Bomar couldn't read a defense to save his life. You say for them to keep handing the ball to Peterson but they tried that last year and he got hurt.....twice! OU has gone from a national title contender to fighting for the conference title in 2 seasons. Sucks.

I laughed when I heard that it was Bomar. Because they came on the radio and they go "Two OU players have been kicked off the team for receiving improper benefits" and I just blurted out "Douche bag frat boy Bomar!" and then they go "One is Rhett Bomar and the other is unknown" and I just busted up laughing. I already knew he was getting improper benefits(i know what all of them are doing wrong) it was just how long until he got caught. The other player thrown off was O-Lineman JD Quinn. Well OU is dicked and shouldn't be ranked in the Top 15 now. Sure they got AD but they don't have a QB that's taken a snap. They have JC transfer Joey Halzle and true freshman Sam Bradford......hmmm.......sounds like they're screwed. There was talk about moving Paul Thompson back to QB but he played WR all of last year and has practiced at nothing but WR all spring and summer. When I talked to him last he said he was happy that he was a WR and he was glad he didn't have to worry about QB. My friend made the best point in relation to that. He said: "Well he shouldn't have gotten comfortable because Bomar was in front of him." Everyone around here knows that Bomar is a complete moron. He got busted for drinking twice and he's an honorary member of the biggest party fraternity on campus. He's an idiot. I'm glad his douche baggery is out of the way and they can concentrate on maybe building Bradford as a QB for the future because he's not an idiot and he's not a jackass like Bomar. (that was another thing Bomar was a dick)

I like a lot of the PRIDE music. Like the music they play during the various opening ceremonies in 2005 and the music they play when someone wins....all make me feel like doing something heroic....I hear those and I'm like "yeah I can do anything! I can fight Fedor!" then I see Fedor coming to the ring and I hide behind my couch in hopes that he didn't hear me.
