    Favorite Smipsons Couch Scene

When the couch is unfolded into a bed and Grandpa is sleeping on it, so they just fold it back up as Grandpa wakes and goes "Wha?" then sit on it.

Yeah, it may be *good* flash, but that doesn't make it good animation. Like, when you can see all the possible points of articulation on a character, that's BAD. And there are some shows like that, and it drives me bonkers. The shows like that seem to have no flow to the animation; it's very flat and sterile. And don't tell me what Home Movies was. I know very well.

I just hate Flash animation on TV in general. I mean, the internet is one thing, but it's TV! Someone should be drawing that stuff! Flash just comes across to me as lazy sometimes, though I can understand why they do it (less time to focus on the drawings = more time to focus on the jokes). Yes, I'm well aware that Home Movies was also very Flash. That bugs me too.

    OAO Raw Thread - August/7th/2006.

I hate that the Samoan Spike has changed a bunch of times. Originally it was a submission hold, then a strike, at one point it was practically a chokeslam, now it's a clothesline with his thumb out. Hell, my buddy didn't even know he'd hit the spike; he thought he beat HHH with a clothesline.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait WAIT. Brendon Small has a new cartoon show? It's about Metal? I'm sold. Edit: My God, I just saw some of this on Youtube. So awesome. Brendon Small is the fucking man. That's him playing the guitar parts, unless I'm mistaken, which I don't think I am, because part of the song was straight outta Home Movies, which I *know* he played all the guitar parts for.

X3: Last Stand DVD Details and Covers

Then how come she just sides with Magneto and then doesn't do *anything* for like, half an hour? That's what bugged me the most; she's supposed to be so powerful, yet it seemed like there was a while in there that she didn't do a damned thing. This movie would've been 10X better if they left the Cure out, just went with the Phoenix, and then in X4 brought in the Cure as the public's reaction to the Phoenix. You mean Mutants can get THAT powerful? Better cure 'em.

    Mel Gibson Arrested

Please tell me you're being sarcastic. "Every single war that ever happened is your fault!" is not the same thing as "My son got killed in a war which I believe you guys caused, so it's your fault!" One of those is, at the very least, a somewhat understandable way for a grieving mother to express her grief. The other is a drunken lunatic rambling.

Chicago requires big-box stores to pay 'living wage'

You don't have to be a very good employee though. You just have to work there. And trust me, most of the people who work at Wal-Mart are *not* very good employees. And yeah, I agree that it is just a token little thing, but really, they don't even have to do that, and it is nice to be handed $800 bucks at once so I can buy something stupid.

Chicago requires big-box stores to pay 'living wage'

Also, this doesn't make any sense to me. Costco is basically just a big warehouse where you buy everything in bulk. I think he's saying that it's a supplier for small businesses and so forth as well as just a place where suburbanites buy groceries or whatever. Like instead of buying a little bag of Snickers Fun Size like they have at Walgreen's or whatever, you get the big box of Snickers bars that high school concession stands would buy. Also, you have to pay an annual membership fee, and it's not really just a nominal one, I don't think. I don't see how these differences between Costco and Wal-Mart would prevent Wal-Mart from providing its workers the type of pay & benefits (hell, even half of the pay & benefits) that Costco provides its workers. Because, first of all, everyone who shops there has to pay money just for the privilege of shopping there. This takes a big bite out of their overhead, and they can take that money and invest it into their worker's salaries. Secondly, Costco, as mentioned before, is more of a warehouse, and since warehouses deal in bulk, their prices are lower. Thirdly, if Wal-Mart paid those kinds of wages to it's workers, it wouldn't BE in the position it is right now. Yeah, they could pay those kinds of wages, but it'd take a huge amount of money out of the pockets of the people who make those kinds of decisions, so they don't do that. Fourthly, Wal-Mart employees do make about half of what Costco employees make. Also, question: How many of you are aware that Wal-Mart gives each employee (assuming they meet certain requirements) a profit sharing check every year? I got $800, in one check, just for having worked in the store for the year. Is that common knowledge?

    Any weed smokers here???

I rarely get them myself these days, cuz I don't drink very often, but when I do, it helps.

I don't often smoke early in the morning (anymore) but I do find it to be a decent hangover treatment.

Many Outraged by Breast-Feeding Magazine Cover

So where are these women who whip out their tits and yell "everyone look, I'm gonna feed my baby!"? I've never seen anyone breastfeed in public without them being discreet about it (IE, having a blanket over themselves or something).

Chicago requires big-box stores to pay 'living wage'

K, first, Chezch did explain pretty much exactly what I was trying to. When you buy in bulk, you pay less, so Costco buys in HUGE bulk (like, a pallet filled with cases of candy bars) and then sells those bulk items at a price that is still cheaper then buying those things individually. Also, Costco has varying membership fees. If you own a business of your own, I think you have to pay a higher fee (around $100) but that allows you to buy certain things. Or something. Because then you have a race to the bottom effect. Look at it this way; I own a store, and I want to lower my prices. However, I already sell things at low prices, so that I make only a small amount of profit on each thing sold. However, I sell a bazillion things every day, so it adds up. For example, I might pay a dollar for a box of cookies, then sell it to you for a $1.25. I only get 25 cents per box of cookies, but I sell lots of cookies, so I make lots of money. That is how Wal-Mart works (not to say their margins are that thin, but they do tend to be thinner then you might expect). But I can't very well take a box of cookies that I paid a dollar for and sell it for a dollar, can I? I'd make no money. So how am I going to make my prices lower? I need to cut costs somewhere. Know where the easiest place to cut costs in virtually any business is? Wages. Think about it, if there's a thousand employees at a Wal-Mart, and I decide to pay them 10 cents an hour less each, that means I now have ten cents X a thousand workers X the amount of hours those workers work. Every day. But that doesn't just affect the people who work at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart's suppliers are also affected by this. They need to cut their costs, because Wal-Mart says so (and Wal-Mart literally is big enough to fuck over some companies if they refused to sell their stuff, so they can't just say no). How are they gonna cut costs? Well, sooner or later it's coming out of someone's wages. Which wouldn't be half as bad if not for the fact that it all comes around. Since so many people are now making less money due to Wal-Mart's insistence on lower prices, they can now no longer afford these lowered prices. Thus, Wal-Mart will make the prices lower, which makes wages lower... Race to the bottom. It may not work exactly like that, since it's been a few years since I had that class, but it's something like that.

They're both big-box-discount-economies-of-scale type joints, no? 2 big differences though. One, Costco sells a lot of stuff for other merchants. Like, cases of candy bars or whatever. Wal-Mart may sell large items, but Costco sells larger ones, and that has an effect on their pricing. Two, you have to pay money to get a membership to shop at Costco.

Chicago requires big-box stores to pay 'living wage'

It was in Quebec, and I don't think it was overwhelming, but it was voted in. Wal-Mart says that the store didn't make enough money in the first place, and that it was now making less, and that the Union were being a bunch of crybabies and not agreeing to things. Of course, Wal-Mart also claims to NOT be anti-union, and to have a higher percentage of full-time workers then most any other department store (which is an easy task to accomplish when you define full time as <28 hours a week). Besides, it's silly. I'm sorry, but I work at a Wal-Mart, and I'm telling you right now, no one there deserves $10 an hour. You wanna make better money? Get a better job.

Of those people though, how many of them are usually stoned when you see them? Cuz it's easy to look at someone who you know smokes a lot of pot, and is currently high, and think they're a mess, but if they stopped smoking for a week, I bet it'd be harder to tell.

    Any weed smokers here???

You didn't answer my question, Chave. You just raised a bunch of other ones. Do you think alcohol should be made illegal? I mean, you seem to think it's pretty bad; why wouldn't you want it made illegal? Personally, I wouldn't care if booze was legal or not, cuz I don't drink very often. And besides, weed doesn't cause liver damage or violence, doesn't have googles nearly as bad as booze ones, and from what I know, doesn't cause physical addictions, only mental ones.

    Any weed smokers here???

So do you think that alcohol should be illegalized? It can unbalance mental states just as, if not easier, then weed. Plus, something like 70% if all violent crime can be linked to alcohol.
