Yeah...and the other island is clearly visible from it. As aforementioned, Desmond never saw it in his 20 days of circling the island? Sayid never saw it while they were looping around? In 16 years, Rousseau never saw it? Also, Benry's "We don't kill people"? What the hell was Ethan doing when he killed Scott/Steve, then, in the first season? And what was Goodwin doing when he snapped the neck of the not-really-an-other in the Tailies' makeshift jail cell? I can't tell if the writers are setting the Others up to be batshit crazy or if they're just hoping the audience forgets the last two seasons, but either way it's not working very well.

Hey, Harley. How do I-AA games against I-A teams affect their rankings? Does a team like North Dakota State get a bunch of support because they almost beat Minnesota? Do teams like Montana and Maine, who've knocked off BCS conference teams in the past few years, get credit in their own rankings for that? Or are I-A/I-AA games completely unrecognized?

As a Virginia fan when the team's having a down year, I couldn't be happier about having another chance to see VT get wrecked on a Thursday night. The ACC is so weird to me. Wake's gonna get to 7 wins this week and will probably finish the year with a better record than FSU. GT more or less clinches their division with a win. I love this delicious chaos.

You picked a pretty fine album to be your only one. I'd say you qualify.

That shot of Jerry Jones? Looked like he was ready to produce an ivory-handled revolver and blast Romo and Bledsoe at the same time.

Nah, son. It's music. Okay, that was gay. I'm not gonna vivablast you and say "you should like it more," but I will say this is my favorite new album in a very long time. What confuses me is that your criticisms are close to the exact opposite of how I'd describe the album. I think the sequencing is extremely inspired--I enjoy the placement of the album's rock n' roll centerpiece ("Wolf Like Me") quite literally in the center, which allows for a natural anticipation, climax, and cooling-off period ("Method"). And I love how the same wheezing, lush synths that open the album reappear on the final track. Too few albums are that well-built. As for yelping, I think that this band's two vocalists are two of my favorite singers of all time, for their exceptional range, intensity, and how they complement each other in the vocal arrangements. Plus, I think the lyrics are cool too. It took me a while to get to this point with the album, progressing from "Oh, I like this" to "wow." Probably 4-5 spins over two weeks on home stereo, iPod, and in the car. Somewhere in there, the light went on.

If it isn't, we'll certainly be told it is. Maybe my beef with the Michigan at #2 argument is that they sorta came out of nowhere and didn't skyrocket up the rankings until the thrashing of Notre Dame, and Notre Dame isn't great. You can make the "they're winning still, even if it's close" point, but I think they'd be embarassed in a BCS bowl. Say, kinda like last year. ahhhh....so USC should be number 2 because you thought USC was in the top 5 before any actual games were played...gotcha....and "Notre Dame isnt that great"....who are the great teams to you then? USC should be #2 because they haven't done anything to lose that position. But...that's exactly what he said. Initial poll positioning is extremely arbitrary. Where a team starts should, in a perfect world, have no bearing on where they are at any given week in the season. I personally put Michigan above USC because I've been much more impressed by Michigan's defense, and because USC's been struggling in the second half, ceding large leads and winning repeatedly in the last seconds of a game. There's nothing wrong with that--a win is a win, and I think USC is clearly a top-5 team based on their superb resume of victories, and really have no problem with someone saying that's why they're #2--but that should be what makes a decision at the very top, not the "starting point."

Very, very good stuff. Saying more would be unwise.

Charlie Batch --> Hines Ward. Awesome throw, fantastic run. And Ward loses the shoe at the 30, and doesn't give a shit. Sweet.

I imagine Zarek was forced to resign when he decided to not go along with Baltar's administration. Though obviously they're not going to recognize Baltar as anything now. I'll be interested to see if his camaraderie with Roslin keeps up or if they'll back to bitter rivals. I can't envision Tigh retaking the XO positon. He's been through so much shit. He's going to be more unstable than he was in Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2, when he was drinking and raving all the time. It'll be cool to see the Galactica functioning with, presumably, full staff, since it's always been undermanned until now. Also: it'll be very, very interesting to see what Sharon (Agathon) does now. All the Hera stuff aside, which will surely arise somewhere down the road, what does she do as a Cylon no longer connected to the Cylons? Will she tell the fleet what the other 5 Cylons look like?

Kotz = ultimate jinx.

I never get tired of seeing "FAGG" stalking the FSU sideline.

Duke from the Miami 6. 3 seconds left. Holy crap. Let's see what happens. Can't believe they missed that. It would have been amazing.
-
I like how Delaware is split between FSU/BC and Michigan/Iowa. Who decides that?
-
Oh, god, yeah. Galactica falling through the atmosphere with the vipers deploying as it dropped was so awesome. There was a whole lot of spaceship porn in this episode.

That was certainly one of the best episodes of the show ever. I can't believe he killed Ellen. Did she really kill herself there? Or just drug her and leave her? I dunno. That was way the hell fucked up. You're right on about the combat stuff--that was nuts, and totally surprising and unpredictable on all fronts. The show always surprises me. I loved the ending, with the rather hollow triumph when you see how people like Tigh and Starbuck are still falling apart.

Here's why you don't pregame with girls!
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Hank Kingsley's topic in No Holds Barred
Nah, he's at UVA, which is extremely lenient even for college. This is "drunk girl at a football game, date gets caught with a flask." I'm surprised they even notified her parents--generally the university hospital releases people the next morning unless the student specifically requests they call his/her folks. You're fine, Supes. As a matter of fact, you're above fine, because you're weren't a douche to the cops. In a worst-case scenario, you'll have to do 20 hours riding shotgun on Saferide or something like that. -
Yeah. That Duke/UNC game that closes the season is gonna rival Buffalo/Temple for Anti-Game of the Year.

Girl Talk runs out of steam in the second half, when it gets all too trancey, and overall it's not as clever when you've heard it ten times, but I really like the first 5 or 6 tracks. That Grizzly Bear album's pretty good too, if not terribly memorable. I always like it when I'm listening to it but it's yet to really stick with me.

This is like Joe Buck complaining about sports announcers. I like the Police more than the Doors myself, but wouldn't put either up that high.

Well, I listened to both songs that Jaxl linked. Really not hearing a lot there, except that Axl's voice is on its way out. They're unmemorable in the same way that new Rolling Stones songs are, whenever they put them out. I can see how really hardcore fans would love them, though, just because they're something and they're not "Oh My God" level terrible. The second one sounds kind of like a shitty "Estranged."

I enjoy the concept of a Free Giant Wall Store.

Ladies and gentlemen, tomorrow night you get to tune in to the game ESPN must be hating themselves for scheduling: 1-5 North Carolina at 2-5 Virginia. It's the battle for 10th place in the ACC, and you can only see it on ESPN! I guess this looked like it'd be a decent game in a relatively quiet week, but wow, how that's gone astray. Thrill at the mysterious, narcolpetic playcalling of Al Groh and his son, Mike! Marvel at John Bunting's revolutionary 0-0-0 defense! And watch as the battle in the trenches unfolds--the miserable Virginia o-line against the sleepy, featherweight UNC d-line, in a race to see who falls over first! Also, UL-Monroe are the Warhawks. Pretty good name, and I feel a better team should have it.

More like gaybeus corpus.
