  1. My love for him has been stated many times. And it burns so strong! I need another tour.
  2. But...it isn't, as you said. Straw man city. Even at this outrageous forthcoming rate of $7.25, a 40-hour work week grosses around $15k/year. Now, if what you're trying to say is that you don't like living wage arguments being tied to minimum wage, then I follow your line of thinking just fine. They do generally have some cross-purposes.
  3. I think Gasol actually fouled Garnett with his ass on that one.
  4. That last series where Rondo slapped it away from Radmanovic and the Lakers gave up two easy offensive rebounds was kind of embarrassing.
  5. Minimum wage is generally for largely unskilled workers. It exists to provide subsistence in line with inflation, and to make sustainable jobs that skilled workers won't do. Your complaint about 70 cent annual raises completely ignores gtd's post clearly stating that the minimum wage hasn't been increased appropriately over the past 10 years. We're only seeing large increases now as a result of that. The short-term changes in unemployment will balance out pretty soon. While you're not wrong that jobs have likely been cut in anticipation of the wage increase, you are wrong in assuming (or at least implying) that unemployment will remain steady.
  6. Preferably the former. If you really jump industries broadly, then maybe you start closer to the bottom again. For the most part, generalized experience being successful, managing people, etc. can be applied across the board to some extent. You make your most money jumping from job to job every few years, or leveraging another job offer at your current place of employment. When you find something you love, stick with it, but everything else is just a means to an end. At this stage of your life, you should do one of two things: take something just for the sake of getting paid and saving up cash, or take something low-paying in a field where you want to get some experience and connections. It sounds like you're more interested in the former. If you really have difficulties, give OU's career services department a call. Pretty much every university offers employment advice, resume evaluation, and the like to alumni, either for free or for a small charge.
  7. It sounds like something you want to try, so go for it. But I'd hesitate to look towards a first or second job as a lifelong career that will help you define whether or not you can be a "family man." I mean, you're 23 and gonna get a job renting cars. It shouldn't be more than a payday, and when you get tired of it or want more money in 2-3 years, you can just go somewhere else.
  8. Totally weird. I know she canceled her European leg for exhaustion, but "last gig ever"? Pretty sudden.
  9. The last pick was nearly 72 hours ago, which means that RHR has come and gone and Gene's got his two picks, and then it's back to RHR again for another 24. Anybody think we should cut this to 12 hours like some of the other drafts? Round 16 has taken two weeks.
  10. B, or close to it. Given the continued WTF of the passing game, there will be a heavy weight on him. He's really good, though there's always the question of whether his great stats were mostly a case of him playing against terrible competition most of the year. Still, good measurables in addition to that, and I was always impressed with him.
  11. Sure it's possible. You don't think companies have employees who have to work outside business hours? Don't be a cop. No one think it's cool to be a cop, and you'll have miserable hours there, too. Tzar's suggestion about trying some middle-management slot at a big company/factory/warehouse/whatever is a good one. If you don't know what you really want to do, maybe look for local government jobs or work at a university. Tons of different kinds of positions that are probably pretty steady and reliable. Or, if you have a decent base of support from your family and can afford it, try an internship somewhere cool. It's worth 6 months of little money if you manage to get involved with something that really interests you.
  12. He died so that R. Kelly would live.
  13. Kells beats the rap.
  14. This is just brutal. Ariza's all over the place too, in a good way.

What he said. Sanyo and RCA are mid-market options, decent for value. However, if you can get a much better product for $150 more (on a product you'll probably be keeping for several years), do it. As far as I can tell, Samsung and Sony are still the brand leaders in televisions. Some of those Pioneer plasmas are gorgeous and have gotten very favorable reviews as well.
  16. I always enjoyed that mostly deaf guy who loved Life of Agony.
  17. That's pretty standard procedure for a D.C. crowd anyway. I'll see if I can get some head-nods going.
  18. I think that if neither have responded by the end of tomorrow, you should give them each the Kandi-Man for any remaining slots.
  19. "Paranoid Android" live is a capstone musical experience. Pray you get it, love it when you do. Just got back from Love is All, who were phenomenal and worthy of t-shirt purchase. Seeing Battles on Saturday night and Mission of Burma at the end of the month. Also, a bunch of my friends and I are going to Virginia Beach and getting $20 lawn tickets to the shitty Rockstar Mayhem Energy Drink whatever tour just to get drunk and see Mastodon and Dragonforce. People-watching at that otherwise nu-metal sludgefest is going to be delightful.
  20. I'm gonna guess...association with Damon Albarn. Best I can do. Or possibly, use of adjacent e's.

No need to slum with RCA if you can order from Amazon. The newest 40" Samsungs can be had for less than $1200 shipped.
  22. Okay but unmemorable, so far. Haven't listened to it in more depth than some songs on Slacker.
  23. Let's get this thing rolling again. Coat picked on June 7, and say we ignore a day because of the server move. It should be BPS on the clock till the end of the day, with Spermy and Stevie able to make their choices at any time.
  24. I didn't notice much anything in the Final Cut that was different from the Director's Cut, which has always been my preferred version. I think there were like 2 seconds in a strip club that I didn't remember from the first few times I saw the movie. That one ought to be fine.
