  1. Sounds like your friend needs to grow a set.
  2. The teams were created 60-80 years before there even was a CFL. When the league was formed, the names were kept as they were. Ottawa's Rough Riders were named for the loggers who worked on the Ottawa River, and Saskatchewan's were named for (I believe) the unit that Teddy Roosevelt led in the Spanish-American War, as there were some Canadians in the regiment. I think I read somewhere that Ottawa changed it's name (I think it might have even been to the Senators), during which time Saskatchewan's team was created.
  3. Saskatchewan has the one-word Roughriders. It was 2 words in Ottawa before they folded. And they still refer to Saskatchewan as the Green Riders, though I don't remember anyone calling Ottawa (or Saskatchewan) the Roughies, but I guess it's possible.
  4. I love this. I feel sorry for the players who are still caught up in all this bullshit, but it looks SO good on Selig and company.
  5. It is. Everyone going nuts on those twins last season was awesome stuff.

  7. Brockvegas Posse: JD Drew (People laughed at me when I took him in the 14th round) Vernon Wells Jason Schmidt Keith Foulke
  8. Seriously, Barry is the best character on television.
  9. I think he has to pass a physical first, but that's (hopefully) just a formality.
  10. On SportsNet, they were saying that the Jays are probably going to sign Steve Kline, but won't be able to sign Koskie (who wants to stay with the Twins) or Clement, since his price is going to get too high. I feel sorry (well, not too sorry) for starters who had their contracts run up last year.

    Hockey Talk

The Knights tied Guelph tonight to pass Brandon and take the record. Then, all the fans threw teddy bears onto the ice. Maybe they can do that at the Memorial Cup, too.
  12. Weird, I get all those same stations (although I had two CBS affiliates until a month ago, but they took the Detroit one away). I even had a Detroit PBS for a bit, too.
  13. I really don't want Delgado to stay in the AL East, so hopefully he goes to Seattle or Texas. I think I'd even rather he'd go to the Yankees than the Orioles.
  14. Delgado's 2nd half in '04 was probably better than his 2nd half in '03. He just played like shit (and was injured) before the all-star break.
  15. Don't know why they don't have the Blue Jays listed as a team interested in Clement. Everything I've heard has made it seem like he's their #1 priority.
  16. So, SportsCentre just listed their top 10 Blue Jays players of all-time since it looks like Delgado's leaving. 10: Roger Clemens 9: John Olerud 8: Pat Hentgen 7: Tony Fernandez 6: Tom Henke 5: George Bell 4: Joe Carter 3: Carlos Delgado 2: Dave Stieb 1: Roberto Alomar
  17. When George Sr. is imagining what a kid that he and Kitty would have would look like, the picture is provided by 'Mommy, What Will I Look Like?', which was one of Lindsay's failed companies. I know TV Tome will usually list all of the inside jokes in most episodes.
  18. Day After Tomorrow. I guess I expected it to be more than just a plain old disaster movie and that's exactly what it was.
  19. I like the way the astroturf looks in places like Indy and St. Louis, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to play on it. FieldTurf is probably the best of both worlds, especially when you can't tell by looking at it that it's not the real stuff.
  20. I enjoyed it, in spite of the mostly lame 'Vince'/'HHH' stuff.
  21. Any episode with Barry in it is awesome. 'And I just found the will, too' I also loved the return of the Aztec Tomb and Lindsay's 'SLUT' shirt, as well as the cartoon of George Sr. being dipped into the Cornballer and the loophole in the Mexican prison system. Buster dancing behind Gob was great, too. There's too much stuff to list and I'm probably forgetting a bunch of shit I thought was great when I saw it.
  22. Probably about 80% of it, the special went on more about the later seasons than the DVD thing did. I picked them up a day or so after they came out and I'm up to the Boyfriend episode now. Every DVD set should have a 'Notes about Nothing' feature, my only beef with it is that sometimes it tries to say too much and goes by too fast to be able to read it.
  23. This was in today's Toronto Star, and even though I don't agree with most of what's written, I still thought it was an interesting read and that it would be nice to see some people respond to it.
  24. She's probably going to win, too.
  25. As a Leafs fan, I don't hate the Sens or the Habs. I root for them (mildly) to at least make the playoffs so one of them can play the Leafs (and hopefully lose).
