  1. I didn't even finish the damn thing. I stopped almost as soon as he started to speak in character, in third person.
  2. Oh man, this one is a hell of a lot better than the books on Hogan, Goldberg, Rock, and all of that rubbish. It's not as solid as the books from Foley and Flair, but who knows, I'm not even halfway through it yet. I don't expect it to be like those though, since Bishoff's story is something a bit different. I think I'm going to check out Regal's book next, finally.
  3. I got this in the mail a couple days ago, and I'm about 1/3 through it, up to the point where Hulk Hogan enters WCW, and I've got to say that up to this point Eric Bischoff has been far more level-headed than I expected him to be. I didn't really know anything about his past, other than where he worked and the basic stuff, so the first part of the book was pretty interesting to me. Here are a couple quotes so far: "There were times when I would rather slam my own hand in a car door than hang out and have a burger with Hulk Hogan because of the shit he put me through" "There wasn't much on Camera that convinced me that she [Missy Hyatt] was worth the effort. I have no idea what talent she really had." "I get a kick out of [Dave] Meltzer's web site. He leads people to believe by logging on to his site, you are going to get information on the headlines that he posts. All he really does is tease the reader with interesting headlines, while failing to deliver any real information. For that you have to buy the "news letter" that he brags "contains more than 35,000 words." The problem is, those 35,000 words are grammatically incorrect , run-on sentences that read like a fifthgrader wrote them. And most of the "news" contained in his publication is second-third-and sometimes fourth-hand information that is so far off the mark, it would be comical if it weren't for the fact that so many people take it as fact." "It still amazes me that these goofs were able to influence people who would never even give them an interview for a legitimate job in the industry they wrote about."

Here is the bit for Canadian pre-orders that I got in the EB/GameStop email:
  6. At least it has a solid score at Rotten Tomatoes.
  7. I'm pretty sure that when a movie is first released, it's just like you say, they don't make half of each ticket sold. During the first week of release, most of the money from ticket sales goes to the studio, around 70, 80, 90%. Then for each week after that, that total goes down for the movie studio, and the movie theater makes more money off of the ticket sales and there comes a point where the movie theater is taking in more than the movie studio, but by that point it doesn't even matter since the movie has been out for so long anyway. That's usually only the case for huge blockbusters though, that are in the theater for well over a month. I'm sure theater owners f'n loved Titanic, since it opened in December '97 and (goes to look this up to make sure) was still playing on 1000+ screens by June '08 and still on 700+ screens as late as August '08. Most theaters make profits, like you say also, off of concessions, arcade, and then of course the on-screen advertisements that theaters have showing before the trailers and movie starts to play. I also think that most money is made just from popcorn. I read once, a while back, that for every dollar of popcorn theaters sell they make $0.90 profit.
  8. I'm 100% sure that he can get worked, just like anyone else. I'm not totally against Orton. I'm not a fan of him right now, and never have been other than his match with Foley that most people seemed to get into. I will more than likely be on his side against DX, but that's mainly because I like Edge so much right now, and I'm tired of DX (sadly, word is that they don't have any plans at all to end the DX angle). I think Orton would benefit greatly from some sort of involving storyline that would then lead to a dramatic change in character. Every now and then I see something of him in the ring that makes me take notice. It's not very often, but he can end a match out of nowhere and he's been quite inventive doing so, and that can get exciting. Hell, when he beat Carlito on PPV I couldn't help but sorta like it just because of the finish. If he got more active in the ring, gave up so many restholds and crutches in the middle part of the match, he'd be a decent worker. I think a drastic change in character would help him just as much though. As it stands right now, I don't care for him at all really.
  9. Joe isn't that great on the mic when he's calm, but when he turns up the heat and gets all worked up and pissed, then he becomes pretty damn good if you ask me. That right there should be his promo style more often.
  10. Just some former PA.
  11. Dave Scherer (PWInsider) posted a hotline earlier going over some future (minor) changes for ECW. Here are a few of those bits: -The talk is to officially make ECW an official "brand" pretty soon, like "WWE RAW" and "WWE Smackdown". Up to this point, while still technically a brand and under the WWE umbrella, they have made attempts to make it at least seem like a different company. You guys know what I mean there. -Some of the changes will be things like the women will no longer be called "Vixens", and they'll just be divas from now on. Francine being released was a part of all of this. Then, again, instead of "Extremists" the ECW guys will just be known as superstars. Really, it's just little things they are going to change that will just have it fold more into RAW and SD, where it wont seem as "different" anymore. Take from that what you will.
  12. The interview gets really interesting. Just like I said a while back, I highly recommend it to you guys.
  13. I think it was quite clever how Michael didn't really care about Ed dying at the start of the show, and the only reason he made such a big fuss out of it as the show went on is because it made him reflect on dying alone himself, and he got worried that no one in the office would care when he dies, just like most didn't care about Ed. I loved that Pam knew all of that, and did her part to help Michael feel better. Just another aspect of that character that I love. This show had so many great lines, I wouldn't even know where to start. "They discovered I had resorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby..." "His cappa was detated!" "There is such a thing as good grief - just ask Charlie Brown." "If I can get them depressed, then I'll have done my job." "This isn't a game, people!" "Well, there is a ball." "It feels like somebody took my heart, and dropped it into a bucket of boiling tears and at the same time it feels like somebody is hitting my soul in the crotch with a frozen sledgehammer. And then another guy walks in and starts punching me in the grief bone. And I'm crying, and nobody can hear me, because I am terribly, terribly...terribly alone."
  14. Ummm, I had no clue that Joe could be this good on the stick.
  15. Is it true that they have "Flash Funk" listed for upcoming shows? That's what the guys on PWInsider just said, but I couldn't tell if they were joking or not.

I went ahead and pre-ordered Twilight Princess and Red Steel at Family Video. Go to the site and use the coupon code NEWMEM96 for $5 off. You can get some pretty good deals on a lot of Wii games (the following are shipped prices): -Call of Duty 3 = $39.98 -Excite Truck = $39.49 -Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess = $40.98 -Nickelodeon Barnyard = $15.98 -Rampage: Total Destruction = $23.63 -Rapala Trophies = $34.45 -Red Steel = $38.96 -Shrek: Smash and Crash = $34.45 Sure, I more than likely wont have them on launch day, or maybe a number of days after launch, but I'll have Wii Sports to play to get me used to the Wii controls.
  18. I loved that line from Randy just now. Something like "I don't have anything to give you, but you'll remember me when you go to turn on the lamp. 'Cause I broke it and didn't want to tell ya."
  19. Didn't she only just debut a week or two ago, with Balls? And while we're talking about releases, from PWInsider: Go to TNA Brent, go there and never look back.

I just got this in an email:
  21. People say it's like the ER/Scrubs deal.
  22. I am planning on watching Twenty Good Years just because of Jeffrey Tambor. I'm downloading it now, so I can't say what I think of it. I do already know that I hate the laugh track though. I haven't been able to accept a show with a laugh track in years.
  23. I didn't hate 30 Rock and I didn't love it. I liked this first episode, but something about it felt off, which I guess is because it was the pilot and was too busy with setting up everything. I'll continue to watch, but I wouldn't say that I'm hooked already. I could easily see myself just not watching it anymore if it doesn't get better week after week here with the first few episodes. I hope I start to like it more though. I think it has potential, especially scenes with Alec Baldwin and all of the writers.
  24. That will never get old:
  25. I know that this is old news, about a month old, but I haven't read anything about it here. With all of the AD and Scrubs fans, I'm sorta shocked. Anyway, would you guys be all for this happening? That might be a stupid question, but I know how picky some people can be. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=16359 http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=24413
