  1. I know what you mean about the Cliff character, and I agree. One of my favorite Cliff moments would have to be when this new guy in the bar kept picking on him, and finally made Cliff leave, for no good reason really. Cliff says he knows karate, or something like that, and refuses to use it on the guy, so he just leaves. After the bully leaves, Cliff comes back in to prove to everyone the power he has, and does so...then without everyone knowing, he has Diane take him to the hospital. I love that episode, one of my favorites. It's so funny, yet heartbreaking, all at the same time.
  2. I have a quick question for everyone: To those of you who loved it, have you ever actually known (or been) anyone like Napoleon or any of the others? I think one reason that I loved it so much is because I've known people like that in my life, and some very well.
  3. I love the show, it's in my top ten sitcoms of all time without a doubt. I especially love the very last shot in the series, it was just so powerful and moving to me.
  4. I have both sets of ILC. I got the first one for about $12 on Amazon, and I got the second one at Target for $20 a few weeks ago.
  5. A lot should be said about The Aviator as well. Leo was just perfect in the role, just perfect. This is really the first film that he has starred in that I didn't look at him a single time as just a "baby faced actor". However, while Leo did a great job, Cate Blanchett just went beyond the call of duty with her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn. I think a best actress nomination might be in store for her. Everyone was really good in the film though, I can't find a bad thing to say about any of the performances. Also, even though the film is quite long, it didn't feel that way to me for a second. Usually when I go into films with such a long running time, I check my watch at least once. I didn't do so a single time while watching this one. The only bad thing I could possibly say about the film is that at times, it felt a bit choppy, but that should be expected when dealing with a film on such a subject matter though. How exactly do you fit the life of Howard Hughes into a single film? You simply can't do it, and even with what we have here we are dealing with only a small part of his life, there is so much more to be told. Let me say one more positive thing about the film though: I've heard many say that many scenes went on for too long, and most of those scenes that people like to mention are the scenes that display his obsessions with hand washing, repeating words, and other scenes dealing with things like that. I can't agree with ANYONE who says they went on for too long. To me, they were just perfect. The reasoning behind having them go on for so long was to allow the viewer to experience just a bit of the frustration that the man himself was going through. Not only could you see it in his eyes, in his face, and in his voice, but you as a viewer could, for a minute, feel the frustration of not being able to get over that hump. As a viewer, you could sense and feel just a bit of his frustration and his helplessness. I loved how the scenes showcaseing his neurosis went on for so long. I especially loved how they presented it when he was in a crowd of people and reporters, with the cameras going off. Anyone who has OCD, or has ever went through anything like that before, can understand what it's like. I'd have to say that this film did one of the best jobs, if not THE best job, at relaying to the viewer what life can be like for someone like Hughes, and others with similar conditions. I know what it's like to feel that exact same way in a crowd of people. I know what it's like to feel as if you must repeat the same words over and over again, I've been through all of that (although not to the same extreme). Overall, I'd give the film a rating of about 9.0 or so, and would be in my top five or so films of the year without my even needing to think about it.
  6. Back to Closer for just a second. I don't know about everyone else, but to me, Clive Owen just stole the show. I bet he gets a supporting nomination.
  7. Oh well, it's your losses.
  8. All of you should go and watch The Aviator and Closer. Both are fantastic films, in different ways. I'll post more on them later when I find the time.

Ok, this thread can just end right there.
  10. I just found a GREAT deal. I picked up Dead Like Me - The Complete First Season, at Ingles for $9.99 used. Wow.

If you downloaded it, then go watch it instead of staring a thread where you don't even give an opinion. Since you downloaded it, go watch it, then post what people thought. At a local video store, there are only about five of the stores in this area. It was used, but in perfect like new condition, it was pretty much new. I buy stuff from there all the time. Their used DVDs range from $3-$10.

I have an idea. Before you post another thread like this, let us know what you actually thought of the movie. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...topic=62315&hl= I bought the DVD the other day for $5, and I'll watch it sometime soon.
  13. Check this out guys. I bought mine in a Best Buy near Charlotte on Tuesday, but everywhere near me is totally sold out of this DVD. I knew that this film would be a huge cult hit, but I didn't imagine that the DVD would fly off the shelf like this. I wish they could turn this film into some sort of weekly TV show, it could be great. Did any of you pick this DVD up yet also?
  14. BC, I sent you a PM.
  15. If I was in charge, and someone that worked for me pulled a stunt like that, I'd demote them, or possibly fire them, as well.
  16. I got it, along with Napoleon Dynamite.
  17. I used one of my five remaining Best Buy Madden 20% off coupons for the following flippin' sweet titles: The Simpsons S5 Napoleon Dynamite
  18. Yeah, and I think it looks better than the first one. I HATE Vin Diesel, so this one looks better just because of that.
  19. I downloaded it a few months ago, so yes I've seen the entire program. I wish it would be released to DVD with extras, just because of how funny it is just how bad the show is. I mean, you have a period where there is NO talking at all. Instead, you have a very long "Wookie Family" scene. Since they don't talk in English, all you get is their moaning and yelling and growling for about 8-15 minutes. I suppose you were supposed to understand what they were saying by what they were doing, but it's just so funny...funny and sad.
  20. I've never liked Billy Gunn except for when he was a part of The Smoking Gunns and the New Age Outlaws, and then when he was with Chuck. Aside from that, I've hated him as much as the next guy. He just isn't cut out to be a singles wrestler, he can't do it all on his own. I've liked Bradshaw since day one however. Back when I first saw him debut, I said right then and there that he would one day be a long term world champion. As the years went by, throughout APA and the such, my feeling got stronger and stronger until BAM, they actually did it.
  21. Any word yet on if they are going to have an actual ending to the series, or are they going to just fucking stop it?
  22. That happened for one match, on a PPV where the entire crowd was a bunch of shits. How many times has the wave happened since then again? I hope Bradshaw DOES keep the title past the Royal Rumble, past Wrestlemania, and throughout 2004. I've been more interested in his title run more than anyone else's over the past few years. It's to the point that you really have no clue who will beat the guy, and that is a good thing. With HHH and his long run, you pretty much knew exactly who he was always going to beat, and you knew exactly when he would drop the title. With Bradshaw, that's different. Any one of the guys he's faced could have won the title from him. Eddie, Taker, Booker T, Angle...any of em. Bradshaw is the best heel, when you consider the total package, since HHH's run a few years ago. As for people saying this would be a perfect gimmick for a US title guy, get real. The entire point of this Bradshaw character is that he's the best, the greatest, no one can beat him, he's on top of the mountain, he's better than EVERYONE else. Something like that is made specifically for a world title run. Also, hate the guy or not, I don't see how anyone can honestly say he hasn't improved. His matches, talk, overall reactions, and pretty much everything else about the guy has improved. Without a doubt he's the most improved wrestler of 2004. The guy is perfect in his current role, and it would be foolish to put an end to it right now. I know none of you want to hear this, but in my eyes he's only just begun.
  23. Ok, so I was in Commerce, Ga. the other day and I decide to check out a DVD/CD/book/video game store in one of the shopping centers. Not only did this small store carry new stuff, but they also had a bunch of used items. As I was looking through everything, I noticed that they had both a new, and used Trailer Park Boys Seasons 1 and 2 set. I didn't really know what it was, but a part of me seemed to remember seeing clips of it on TV. I don't remember where I watched it, but I saw it somewhere on TV here. Anyway, the odd thing about the sets is that the used one was priced at $7.99 and the new and sealed one was only $9.99. I bought them both, put one on eBay, and started watching the other one. To my surprise, I sold the one on eBay for almost $50.00, I'm still shocked over that. I had no clue that the things went for so much. I was just about to put the second one on eBay, but after I started watching it, I couldn't get myself to. I'm up to episode eight now, and I'm loving this. This show is pure goodness through and through, I can't believe I've never heard more about it. I can't help but wonder though just how/why in the hell that a small store in a small town in Ga. had both a used, and new, copy of this DVD set for so cheap. Seeing how it hasn't been released in the US, I just find that odd now, especially after learning just what it actually is. Whatever the reason, I'm glad that I stumbled into this show. Both because of how great it is, and because I made a quick $40.
  24. It cost $48 Million, when you combine production and marketing. The film only brought in $43.4 Million worldwide, ($40 Million of that in the US).
  25. Yeah, just use their "Tomatoe Picker" and you can list all of them that got a 0% rating. Since 2000 alone they have 43 listed at 0%.
