    Comics Inventory?

So I'm trying to organize all of my comics that got mixed up when I moved and it occurred to me that there has to be a better way of keeping track of my books than writing down a list on the back of a longbox. Does anyone here know of a good inventory program (like the ones they use for DVD's)? If not, how do you keep track of what comics you own?

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

yes, but I am pretty sure that we see Plo Koon in the Battle of Geonosis and I am 99% sure he does not have a yellow lightsaber. In fact, I don't think there has been a yellow lightsaber in any of the movies. We've seen lots of blue, a few green, Mace's purple and the Sith's red (pink, whatever) but no yellow.

    SWF Company Softball team

If nobody calls me to be on the softball team, I'd be quite put out. Grand Slam's natural position is first base, but we seem to have a glut of those, so either 3B or CF. Also, all due respect to J Hawk, I think GSMS would make a great player / manager. Afer all, he did play minor league ball for years.

Steviekick, do you have a website for the comicsbase program? I googled it and got junk.

    Viscera

I'm not usually one to post stuff like this, but: The sooner Viscera is gone from Raw the happier I will be. This gimmick sucks, his matches suck.. I'm not sure what the hell WWE is thinking. I want him gone even if it means more Masterlock challenge. Still more entertaining than "Sexual Chocolate" Viscera.

    Comics Inventory?

I appreciate it guys. I'm checking out the dcomics website... looks promising. As for creating my own list, I was planning on using Access and creating a database so I can create a nice looking report (and in this case I prefer Access to Excel). I'm just lazy enough that I was hoping someone did the work for me.

    Hey guys...

I don't have a lot of time, but I wanted to stop by and say a huge thank you to everyone. Believe it or not, these responses have meant so much to me. And considering my dad was a computer geek / message board guy himself, he would have loved it. Thank you... thank you. - Chris aka "Grand Slam" Mark Stevens

  10. My point is that, regardless of the "ethics" of the casino business, they operate more or less under the same laws "more ethical" businesses do, at least in areas where gambling is legal.
  11. The biggest problem I see with making exceptions to the rule that allows a business to refuse service to anyone is that, suddenly, there would be a flood of exceptions with almost as much reason to exist as the card counting thing. Imagine being refused service at a restaurant because you are a bad tipper, or being kicked out of a department store because you are browsing with no intention of buying anything.

    What can you cook?

First off, I want to say that reading this thread is making me hungry, and with no money in my pocket to get snacks out of the vending machine, noon is a long ways off... I have a few things that I can make, none of them that difficult really, but since my wife likes them, I keep in practice. I make great tuna salad. My spaghetti sauce is very good, my chili (based on my grandpa's recipe) is very good. Recently, I've been making chicken strips coated in Frosted Flakes or Cap'n Crunch (better than it sounds). Oh and just because I'm from southern Ohio, don't think I make any of that nasty Cincinnati chili with cinnamon or chocolate in it. Mine is more a midwestern version, more meaty and less spicy than traditional tex-mex / western chili.

    NEW!! Episode III trailer........

That's true, in the earliest draft of Empire, Vader was not Luke's father. But there were extenuating circumstances. Leigh Brackett, the writer Lucas hired, was very sick and her screenplay was, well let's just say it wasn't up to snuff. That is when he hired Lawrence Kasdan to do the actual draft. From everything I've heard, Vader being Luke's father was something that was intended (else the "He's too much like his father" line in Ep. IV makes less sense) from the start, but Lucas waffled on it. Finally, he decided that the story was supposed to go that way, so he did it. I remember most of this from the Annotated Screenplays.

If you could have one sport thing happen this year

At this point, what would make me really happy is for the Reds to stay competitive through the 2005 season. Even if we don;t make the playoffs, even if we don;t make the Series... just so that games in late September (hell, for that matter, games in late August) actually mean something.

    NEW!! Episode III trailer........

I've actually been thinking about that quite a bit, since one of my friends asked me what order I will show them to my kids. The first time they are shown to someone, they should be shown 4-5-6-1-2-3. Anytime after that, 1-2-3-4-5-6.

    I hate my father

My favorite story about my dad (who I haven't spoken to in almost 5 years) - The day I graduated High School, I gre a beard. Now I grant you that it was unspectacular at first, but I took care of it and trimmed it. I had to shave it off for a job once, but gre it back right away. This time it came in full and very nice. Two years later, my dad gave me a cheap shaving kit for Christmas.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

You know, I don't think the term "Sith" was actually used, as dialogue, in the movies. Although every promotional item that came out back in the day called him Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith, and I believe that is how he is referred to in the script. They have not, in the movies, referred to the Emperor as Palpatine. The origin of the name comes from a brief little forward to the original Star Wars novel, supposedly an quote from the "Journal of the Whills." The first time I remember seeing it is in the Return of the Jedi Novelization. As far as the EU goes, the novels and comics, from what I understand, try to stick to the continuity established in previous installments. Lucas, however, will occasionally use a character or a name from the EU, but basically refers to it as "not canon". Or, as I heard one of the authors say (I don't remember which one): "George Lucas is like the kid on the block with the coolest toys. We all love to go and play in his driveway, and we have a great time. But there's no rule that says he can't take away some of the toys, or, for that matter, back a truck up over everything we've done."

Bill Nye the Sex Teacher Guy

That's awesome. Bill Nye has always been a favorite of mine mostly because he doesn't pander to kids, therefore making his shows watchable by adults.

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

Starvenger, those are very good points, and I cannot disagree with them. I guess it is more accurate to say that I don't agree with some of the assumptions the writers have made regarding how the Force works. Just doesn't feel, well, mythic to me in the EU stuff I have read. Which, addmittedly, is very little. I gave up after the Jedi Academy Trilogy. It made my soul hurt. That was, in fact, the point I was trying to make. Thank you for clarifying it. Well, yes and no. In the frustrating world of prophesy, it can be viewed either way. Sure, Luke brought Vader back from the Dark Side thus causing the end of the Sith and, presumably, the end of the influence of the Dark Side, but it was Vader (the chosen one) who did what was thought nigh impossible, coming back from the Dark Side and killing the Master of the Sith, Palpatine. I have to say that, overall, this is the most civilized Star Wars thread I've run into in a while. Usually by this point they degenerate into "TPM droolz & Ewoks suxxors" kind of stuff.

    Can you drive a stick?

there is no option above for "theoretically". Which is to say I learned how to drive a stick and was pretty good at it, but haven't driven anything but an automatic in fifteen years.

Lucas to Release Star Wars 3-D films in 2007

You guys kill me. I've been reading some articles about this recently, and there is a whole group of technically-minded directors who want to push 3-D as something more than a "gimmick" technology. What better way to show "Hollywood" that 3-D is viable than to release one of the biggest movie trilogies ever in the format, assuring that there will be a 3-D movie in the yearly top 10?

If Luke knew who Anikan really was

Just a couple of things that occured to me as I was reading the thread... - The Extended Universe overall is a waste of time while trying to determine anything about the Jedi or the Force. In my expierience with the EU, the authors will go to incredible lengths to explain why one of the heroes can do something without going over to the dark side or they will find ways to make the Jedi less formidable so they can put them in jeopardy. - Bringing balance to the Force has nothing to do with the number of Jedi or Sith in the galaxy. The Force, by it's very nature, is balanced. Remember, to use the Force you don't have to be happy and full of hope, you have to be "Calm, at peace, passive". The dark side comes about when the Force is used in anger or hatred or fear. The existance of anyone using the dark side and causing it to grow in power will by definition unbalance the Force. - One of the great weaknesses of the Dark Side is that is seductive. It tells you what you want to hear. Palpatine wanted to think that he was infallible (and considering his track record up to that point, why shouldn't he?) and that his master plan to replace Vader with his (more powerful) son, Luke, would go off without a hitch.
