Republicans basically want to repeal taxes (favoring the very rich) and spend more than the Dems ever have. That's not fiscally responsible. If the Dems tax and spend, you may disagree with the policy, but it's not going to end up with half our country owned by foreign interests. If they cut taxes and cut spending, that'd be one thing. I think the best situation is a Dem prez with a Rep legislature. They got the budget balanced, remember that? That was AWESOME!

Invincible might honestly be the best ongoing superhero comic on the market today. The only others I'd put on par (that I read, at least) are Astonishing X-Men and Ultimates. (I'm sure there's some really great One Year Later titles ongoing, but it's too much for me to wade through) Invincible is about a high school kid whose dad is pretty much the most powerful superhero on earth. He finally gets his at age 17 (quite suddenly) and immediately starts superheroing. It's got great art, lots of memorable characters. Tons of homages and some witty dialogue, and has one of the hardest-hitting plot twists I've ever read in a comic early in the series. It's sort of like a much more concise, much less predictable Ultimate Spider-Man. It's a lot better than USM, which is a series I like quite a bit. 100 Bullets. This one I think should only be read in TPB format. It's a noir comic book that starts off with an intriguing premise. A mysterious man shows up with an attache case which contains proof that someone has been wronged, who wronged them, a gun, and 100 bullets of untraceable ammunition. They are then left to their own devices. There's a LOT of depth to the series. As it goes on it starts digging into the pasts of the characters, and the motives of the mysterious man. The plotlines become quite complex, and not everything's spelled out for the reader at first. It's a very intriguing read, and this guy can write characters with the best of them, giving them very distinct voices, unlike similar books like Sin City. I've read maybe half of the ongoing series, and it's just scratched the suface. EDIT: Also Hitman, which has finished its run. By Garth Ennis, so you can expect tons of weird characters and situations, and snappy dialogue mixed with oddly touching moments. It's set in the regular DC universe, in Gotham, but crosses over about as often as Swamp Thing. Better, IMO than Preacher or Punisher or his terrific Hellblazer run. It's great stuff. And I've already pimped enough, and it seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it series, but I love X-Force/X-Statix.

You take Matt and Trey seriously as political commentators? Because they're libertarians, you know. JustPassinBy needs to watch that SP episode where the Virgin Mary bleeds out of her ass on the pope. He could learn something about religion. Seriously, JPB. Defend that comment about being able to smell terrorists next to you on the bus. She couldn't. All she does is name-call and fawn over herself. All her collumns are are bile and vitriol, and are indicative of all that's wrong with political discourse in this country today. Every other collumn has something about ugly liberal women who don't shave their legs. Ha ha! How fresh and witty! No matter what you believe, about 50% of Americans vote Dem. It swings back and forth, but if you believe that liberals are such terrible, terrible people, then I would suggest that you don't love America that much, since you believe 50% of its citizens are terrible, terrible people. And I wasn't talking about Cindy Sheehan. Glick was sought out by O'Reilly to be on his show. He didn't camp out in front of the White House staging media events. The Current Events folder is about debate. It always has been. If you want to go to a political board that basically is "liberals suck, LOL, kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out" go to The Pit. I'm sure it'll be really fun, like the internet's meant to be.

Yeah, Natalie Portman's quite the actress, but she sucked in the trilogy, by and large. Bad script + bad direction = bad acting. Hayden Christianson was supposedly exellent in "Shattered Glass." Every review I read (probably 3) mentioned that they were stunned that it was the same actor that they had seen in Clones. -
Medved's the only right-wing talk show host who'll actually have people on who can debate him, and he does, instead of just crackpots. (though he has those too.) This is likely why no one listens to Medved. They just want to hear straw-man soliloques and ridiculous stories about 'dey're takin' r Christmas!'

Our system of law is based on at the MOST 4 commandments. (Murder, Adultery, Thievery, Bearing false witness) That's not a very strong correlation. Pretty much all the laws in Leviticus and Deuteronomy have absolutely fuck all to do with our laws. So how is our laws based on Judeo-Christian values? That's just something we repeat so much it's accepted as truth. Plus the whole Judeo-Christian thing is a crock. No sect of Christianity that I know of follows Old Testament law. In fact, the New Testament pretty much directly contradicts it. The only part they pay attention to in the Old Testament is the 10 Commandments, and hating on the gays.

Wicker Man, the original was pretty much perfect for what it wanted to be. I really don't see the point of a remake.

If she told it how it was she could debate people.

She thinks she's far prettier than she is. And with her outright cruelty and men-spiritedness, she she's a very ugly person. She's so fucking smug in her column, but whenever I've ever seen her on TV debating at ALL, or asked simply to back herself up, she balks and sputters. I forget what show she was on but, she was asked to back up one of her statements, which was aprox: the only difference between the cold war and the war on terror is you couldn't smell a communist when he sat next to you on a bus. The host simply asked her what she meant by this. Did she mean Arab people smelled bad (of course she did) and she just hemmed and hawed. It was fucking embarassing.

"And thank you to the BEAUTIFUL, EFFERVESCENT Linda McMahon for this opportunity!" Like others have said, there used to be little wasted time in the short matches. Therefore a long chinlock sequence in the middle of the match was shat on, and rightfully so. WCW seemed to always have a 'face fights out of a resthold' spot in their heavyweight matches, but their matches were usually longer. What I don't understand is why wrestlers can't learn rest holds other than a chinlock. Use a Fujiwara armbar, or a half-crab, or a camel clutch, or an indian deathlock or SOMETHING.

They should have got Jack Evans to play Anakin. -
See Bill O' Reilly bullying the son of a 9'11 victim, telling him 'his father would be ashamed of him.'

I like how the end of the ESB and RotJ fights mirror each other, with the winner just furiously hacking away until the loser loses their hand. The ending to the RotS fight is pretty lame. Flippidy-doo! Ow! -
Well, there are churches and ministers that will marry gay couples. The biggest problem I have is that in many states, a lifelong partner can be banned from hospital visitation rights by a bigoted family. That's FUCKED up. I don't care what you believe, there's no moral justification for that.

The best Mexican food comes from taco trucks. I have two within two blocks of my apartment. They're cheap, and delicious. Really well seasoned meat of every type (slightly greasy, but nothing compared to fast food places), lots of cilantro, lettuce, tomatoes, avacado and onions. Plus ceviche, which is probably the freshest tasting food in the world next to sushi. I couldn't find the caloric content of the bowl, but I'm sure it's astronomical. I mean a KFC kicker (which I will admit are tasty little motherfuckers) is basically 2/3 of a chicken strip on bread with lettuce and mayo, and it's like 360 calories. The KFC bowl sort of gives me a bad feeling just thinking about it. Like those 2000 calory Hungry-Man dinners. Though Booker's line readings in those commercials always cracked me up. "CORRRRRRN and puddin'"

Vader v Luke in ESB is my favorite too. One of the only things they added to ESB in the special addition was Luke screaming as he fell. I hate that. It was so much better when he just fell. -

Look, the list is obviously bollocksed, as it includes random genres, veering from influential cult bands with little commercial success (Fugazi) to bands that were extremely popular, but did nothing particularly new or innovative (Bon Jovi, Blink 182) I don't pretend to know a thing about metal, but this list is trully bizarre.
